New ar, your innocent words somehow always give people wrong ideas one hor? Kekekeke! Hmmmmm ..... fashion-related illustrations would be nice! Or illustrations/icon rendering of John Lennon / Audrey Hepburn / Marilyn Monroe / James Dean / Elvis. Actually, if I could, I'd put alot of Alberto Vargas paintings around, but too bad lah, got kids so must censor abit. ehehehehe!

Don't think of suay lah. I think your kind act of helping him has already brought you good karma. Hope the worker's alright and the cut wasn't too deep. Only worry is because he's handling all the wood/dust, hope he don't get any infection.

Mr Rapister, If you think Beany's fridge is small, be more proactive lah! Put your money (not to mention prosperity and generosity) where your mouth is - Sponsor Beany a Liebherr!
-
Coffee: Dun worry, there is only one person that rapes people's blogs on this forum. I think his nick speaks for itself lah.

Aahahahhaa, New knows me so well. Yes, the lack of colours is indeed depressing - Too clean and sanitised like clean room! Ahahaha!. But I'm sure I'll figure out something to 'offset' it lah. Your artwork would be most welcome to be displayed!

New, PJ, F4, Coffee_O, ZeroChristy, Rondy: Thanks everyone for the laughs and interesting comments on the last 2 pages. Yeah, it really makes me laugh here at my workstation too! I hope my boss really doesn't get this idea I'm enjoying work too much and start adding more 'colour' to my work life as well.

I'm aware of what non-alignment means entails and am quite familiar with alot of Fengshui elements. However, for personal reasons I just prefer not to indulge in Fengshui. Bad luck for many years? Well, I've been quite down on luck the last 2 to 3 weeks, and yeah, I've broken the odd bone here and there over the last few years too. So perhaps that's it for me? Nah, I prefer to take life, along with its ups and downs, as it comes. After all, its life's unpredictability that makes it both scary but yet exciting isn't it? I'm Chinese in one sense of the word, but my ancestral heritage is also spread wider than just simply Chinese culture and traditions alone. As such, Fengshui isn't the be all and end all for me. I believe in knowing, understanding and respecting it, but it doesn't mean I need to follow everything completely. If Fengshui works for you, I'm happy for you. Feel free to spread your wealth and good luck with me anytime if you like.

Hdb Inspection Before 1st Appointment
adrian_john replied to netimpact's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
When the HDB officer pops by your place, he'll basically inform you on what you need to get done by a certain date. If you need, he can also recommend you a few of the HDB contractors to call and get a quote for the rivet replacements. Essentially, they will charge by per window panel. So of course, the more casement windows you have, the higher the cost. Once you confirm with the chosen contractor, they will pop by and install and certify and endorse on the BCA form that they have installed the required rivets as per the regulation. Once this is done, you bring the form to the HDB Officer so that they can proceed with the processing of your resale transaction. -
Nah. I don't follow feng shui and the orange is to act as a contrast to something else. So no I won't bother to change it thank you very much.

Heya Beany, Your textured wallpaper really stands out and is very unique! Great selection of furniture, blinds and curtains as well. The entire wood and stone theme brings about a classy and warm rustic feel. Sad to hear about the marble problem though. No other ways to cover/conceal it?

PAINTING WORKS UPDATE - 1 to 4 SEPT Most of last week was devoted mainly to painting works to the whole unit. All the raw, dirty walls and debris have been painted over and cleaned up, leaving the Living/Dining area extremely bright and white; I feel I need to wear shades in the house. Too much white's not really my cup of tea cos' I like darker and bolder colours, but the Wife and Mother's definitely happy. Moving onto the rooms. Some colours appear combined with light beige. There's a tinge of cool lime for the wardrobe & kids' room. While the MBR has some orange for the TV partition wall. Just a minor complaint about the paint work - When the painters painted my main door, they painted over the top and bottom metal door latches that secure the smaller portion of the main door in place. This has caused the securing latch to be stuck, and it'll be quite tough to remove the paint on it. I guess I'll just find a new one instead. After the took the floor protectors away. It sure looks like the house is getting closer to completion. Just left the following to be done before the main bulk of the reno is complete: - Installation of Air-Con Fan Coil Units (Scheduled this Wed, 9 Sept) - Grinding of Parquet Floor and installation of some additional skirtings around new partitions (Scheduled this Thurs, 10 Sept) - Installation of Room Doors (Glass and Veneer) - TBC - Completion of Wiring and Electrical (Remaining lights, ceiling fans, switches and LAN points) - TBC - Installation of Window Grilles - TBC - Carpentry Installation: Kitchen Cabinets, Wardrobes in All 3 Rooms, Dresser, Bathroom Vanity Tops - (Scheduled to start from Friday, 11 Sept)

Bukit Panjang Cov $100k ? !
adrian_john replied to Sky_Ray's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
Actually since the so-called 'boom' in recent weeks, alot of people have been putting up their HDBs on the market. They are mostly not sincere sellers, they're just out there to 'test the market' and see if they can find some sucker who will fall for the unit and asking price. The agents on the other hand are also there convincing the so-called 'sellers' that they can get take advantage of the 'boom' and attempt to get the maximum asking price possible. $80K cash is really over the top though. Even in red-hot Bishan and Toa Payoh, there hasn't been any high COV as that, let alone Bukit Panjang. -
Ahahaha! Uncle always seems to have that calming effect and that honest face that somehow you just can't get too angry with! I guess it's an asset to him in the business. Hope he's well and not overstretched.

Hi Seashell. Nice place you got with an interesting layout there! Hope everything's OK with your ongoing reno right now and that the hiccups encountered will be solved soon.
-
Heya New! Welcome back! Good to see you posting again. Your house is looking good. Kitchen Drawers very neatly organised too! As mentioned the other day to you, the pebble wash enhancement's really a good touch and will certainlly suit the kim kim goot goot toilet stand out even more! As for the door layout, I'd pick the 3rd one from the left in the 2nd (bottom) row. The coloured circles add a nice dimension to the gate. So the green and red is to follow the kitchen glass backing and barcelona chair colour respectively issit?

Yup, there will be a shower screen. Not up yet.

Thanks for the tip Ivy. I guess like you said, with time I'll be very immune to it one lah. So I won't let it bother me too much. The additional costs for solid core is quite hefty - Like additional $150 per sheet of laminate. The kitchen cabinets already require like 7 to 8 pieces ... so that's like er over $1K difference. Can channel to more entertaining stuff lah I suppose.

FALSE CEILING & PARTITION UPDATE 2 - 27 to 31 AUG Let there be light! After over a week of no lights, the electrician has fitted almost 3/4 of the downlights for the entire unit's false ceiling. Good thing too, so we could have our meeting yesterday evening under bright lights instead of using the improvised fluorescent light tubes we brought! Kitchen sewage pipes have been boxed up. Next step is to tile it up so that it'll be a uniform white look for the entire kitchen. Partition between MBR and Kids' Bedroom and Wardrobe created to make a neater passageway has been done up. Toilet Bowl, Storage Heater and Shower Mixers installed. I hate those ugly sewage pipes, but can't do anything about it or else no one can shower there if its boxed up. Also, to avoid having too many interlocking s/steel hot-cold piping, and to flush neatly with my MBR mixer, the temp settings for my MBR shower is now 'reverse' - Meaning, hot = cold; cold = hot. I'm gonna find a way to swap the red and blue buttons somehow.

Heya Booy, I realised solid core would be too ex and beyond budget. Especially since alot of my carpentry are in Piano White. Somemore reno budget's like bursting at the seems already with a couple of VOs here and there. I usually pop by the house in the evenings after work, or on Saturday mornings so let me know if you wanna pop by lah. Now its still in much of a mess though. Ehehehehe!
-
Thanks Xherion. The rose white colour looks pretty nice in daylight too. I reckon its a soft touch of off-white? Did you use rose-white for the rooms as well? I saw some of the pics where you used cool daylight lights instead of warm white ones and the effect's pretty nice too.

Ahahaha .. As always, thanks for the advice New! And also thanks for the picture to illustrate and visualise. Will see what we can work out for a simple basin cabinet. Sigh! Spend more $$$$ liao... haiz! Reiki Thanks! Its nice to hear from you and appreciate the idea of the s/steel strip. I guess that one sure beats hacking! I'm really appreciative for your wire management tips. In the meantime, I've tried to minimise trunking and power points as much as possible, but there's just some areas that I can't - Like the TV console, cos' I've decided to get an off-the-shelf one instead of custom-made.
-
FALSE CEILING AND PARTITION UPDATE False ceiling for the Living and Dining area is up. The guys have also done up partially the false ceiling for the bedroom corridor and the bedrooms. Partition wall for the MBR for the TV console area and a mini passage way for the dresser outside the MBR Bathroom. Looks a little narrow due to the constraints of space.

Thanks for the tip Booy. I took a look at the solid core ones. Really nice. I think for the whites and blacks, the most common choice colour looks like Piano White and Black. I like their wood grain ones too. But not sure if it'd look nice for the wardrobe. For the wardrobe, I think I'd like something similar to yours - full height glass sliding door; or like storms - full height mirror. Wifey not so keen about the latter tho' cos' she thinks its not good if the children sleep facing a mirror. Anyways, once the house is more or less done up, you're welcome to pop by since your place is just about 5 minutes' walk away. All lighting points planned out already. To save myself headache, I decided to use downlights for the whole house, except the foyer, balcony and common bath. And knowing that my wife and mum are the sort that don't like dark but like super bright house types, we made sure the house got more than enough light going around. Ahahahahahha!
