  1. Congrats to your new home !! Another BB kaki.. Is your side near Gulin lake ?
  2. Hmm I will recce with Genova this weekend Poh Joo ? I don't dare to try because I got some mixed response. Some say good but I also read some horror stories about their products get rusty easily...
  3. By the way Any recommendations on getting the kitchen sinks, WCs, taps etc?? Originally I went to Indulge at Balestier as recommended by most of the members from the forum.. After I compare with Hoe Kee, found Indulge price is steeper and somemore less variety. Take the WC for example: A normal WC we found suitable for the house is about $266. At Hoe Kee, it cost only $249 somemore we feel the built is more solid.. Is there a catch ??
  4. Yes yes pls do share us your photos After listening to pinkpetter previously, we decide to drop the rough wall tiles instead. Rough floor tiles will remain.. For easier maintenance consideration..
  5. It will be a 2.4m (breath) * 2.4m (height) We did consider that we probably will not use the full height. Our stretching arm will hit around 2.0m. We did the full height wardrobe anyway as the last 0.4m will be used as storage for extra mattress, pillow etc.. For my wife convenience, we design the dress column on the lower left within her reach.. Wait till we upload and introduce our kitchen. We draft out the cabinet arrangement as according to our usage habit..
  6. The Grey solid surface actually blend very well to your floor and white kitchen to good effect... carpentry work looks neat also..
  7. We did. In fact we have 2 red tiles to choose from: 1. the deep red tiles with flower pattern and 2. light red tiles with white line, which is our final selection. (Refer to previous post). This is to match our "red and white" kitchen theme. Problem did not come from our selection rather is from my parents... They feel is too red and "loud" plus bad fengshui (water + fire (red tiles)).. Any truth in it ?
  8. Congrats and hope a good and smooth progress for your house renovation...
  9. Wha... I though my blog was lost somewhere in space. I have not put up a post in my blog for some time... We finally got the keys on 5th May 2009 and started our official house opening yesterday.. Can't wait for our renovation to start. Today, ID came to our house today to survey and discuss on our electrical wiring with new quotation. We also covered the areas for hacking. Most likely, we will start the hacking somewhere at 24th May while awaiting him to apply HDB permit.. Hopefully by end of next week, we will expect some work schedule from him. Some of the finalized drawings are handled over to us. Except for the kitchen and the bedroom coloring. which he says he needed to redraw again.. I will upload all when he is ready for our next meet up. Color drawings are as follows, with our finalized tile selection: Common bathroom Master toilet There will be some areas where we need to box up to hide those ugly sewage pipings for both toilets. Effect will probably not as similar as what is shown in our drawings.. Bedroom cabinet ID did proposed something. But we counter proposed with our own cabinet interior design to suit our needs. Also, the choice of cabinet color is also our proposal. All thanks to the previous forum member contributions to this forum.. It will be a busy weeks ahead for us..
  10. Still ok la..Not so crowded. We have shortlisted a few for our tile selection. Pending ID to give us the drawings how it will look like. From there, we will eliminate and finalized the drawings.
  11. You can go for tiles viewing first before your actual appointment time with your ID.. There will be a lot of tiles to choose from. A pre walk through will be helpful to narrow down your selection..
  12. I was there on Sat morning, were you there ??
  13. Your present floorplan is very good Straight with no funny sharp corners.. You are moving house soon ??
  14. Thanks for sharing.. I run through his blog and yes those horrible white patch is not something that I want.. Hazii... hard to balance between substances and style..
  15. Care to share with us your floor plan ?? Refer to my earlier post for my house photo. Mine is at 122 Sqm. Close to yours..
  16. I enlarge the 3 tiles photo again for better view.. Op1: medium roughness Op2: Smooth Op3: Rough with steps.. Saw your photos. Is similar to my floor tiles and these tiles should not have a problem.
  17. Ha ha thats a good one... Seems to me that Uncle Soon is an honest contractor based on others opinion.
  18. Hee hee no.. His hand drawing is good and I preferred design present to us this way. Also he mentioned that there are many types of tiles/paints with different feel and color to choose from. Computerised drawing might not have the library to access all type of tiles. Hand coloring might give us a better picture of the finished product. I may be wrong but I will post his drawings to all in another 2 weeks time for our next due meet up..
  19. Common toilet tile selection. We have 2 sets in mind and will complement with kitchen design and color scheme. Basically ID have to color the drawings by hand to make a comparison. Quite straight forward. Master toilet will be a bit tricky. We want an "warm" feel but was stuck with the following selections. See photos on your right are the 3 choices we are stuck with right now. Op1 and Op3 are the rough surface tiles that I like and basically with these tiles used as a "color focus" will give our toilet a more resort feel. But my wife complain that these tiles are difficult to maintain and will probably leave white stain marks if come in contact with water, shampoo etc and therefore she prefer Op2, which is the smooth tiles as the more practical choice. No doubt that Op2 can also complement our wall tiles quite nicely, pending ID coloring. Any guys got experience with using rough tiles for bathrooms ? Are they really difficult to maintain, grow algae etc? Lets discuss.
  20. Some design layout to show, colors not done yet as we still need to fine tune with ID. Overall Layout Common toilet design Master bedroom toilet Foyer Kitchen design needs more discussion with ID. Tiles photos will be coming either in tonight or tomorrow and I need some advice from all regarding selections
  21. The whole living room looks very cute indeed...
  22. Today we meet our ID at the Luxury Living 09 exhibition at Singapore Expo, intended to just pay the deposit for our renovation. However as expected, we discovered more exciting items in the exhibition hall and therefore end up spending more money... 1) Paid $4470 deposit at Sky Creation Design, entitled to 89 lucky draw coupons.. . We are expected to view some 3-D drawings and tiles selection next Sat.. 2) Paid deposit $500 on Napure bed set, comes with i) Storage Bed (Full Storage area below mattress, not the dual partition type as seen in the photos) ii) Napure Latex mattress (Queen Size) iii) 2 Synthetic Latex pillow (FOC) Total damage: $1600 We have tried sleeping some other brand of Latex mattress but both of us feel Napure gives us the best comfort. So comfortable that we have a hard time to get up Mattress sales there is really competitive and is difficult shake off pesky salesman with their promotion offer. Sweat.. 3) Next, the air conditioner offer. Something that we cannot resist because of its built, energy efficiency and lastly the price. Toshiba inverter sys 3 air con unit. Compressor unit (Made in Japan) Total cost: $2388 except bracket ($100) depending whether existing bracket of the previous air con can be used. We have paid $200 deposit. Other interesting items: Ez-Lift 4 laundry system at cost of $678. But we decide to get it next time round ba else our budget will go burst in no time.. ** Photos are not sharp as they are taken from my camera phone..
  23. You/or your ID did put some thought on how to arrange your cabinets. Eg, Arrange pots cabinet right below the hob. Locate plate rack above the kitchen sink for easy access. The washing machine, cloth dryer are located near the laundry hanger. Basically the "hot" and the "wet" area are well separated. The only disadvantage is the hob is too close to the laundry area. Cooking smell might stain your laundries. Nevertheless, the kitchen is still well design to maximize space. I just hope that HDB don't carry on shrinking the flat area for new flats.
  24. Its good that your agent stand on your side..
