I guess it's in pretty good condition rite? Anyways, congrats to u.. Hope to see some pictures soon.. *Envy your very big living and ur long long kitchen.. Got balcony summore.. The space to the right of your door beside the toilet at the MBR very good for WIW! Hahaha..

Hey, my future neighbour.. Just chanced upon ur blog.. Anyways, here's a late congrats to u on ur getting of ur place.. Which part of sk will u be in? Anyways, I can only suggest a few of the points only.. Hahaha.. 2. I think parquet is the way to go if budget isn't a problem.. yeah, laminates have that hollow feelin.. 3. Aircon will have to depend on you liao.. No harm installing one if u know one day u might use it and of course if ur budget allows to.. But like zerochristy said, ceiling fan should suffice for most ppl bah.. 4. Bi fold doors with glass one very nice leh.. Hahaa.. Actually have to depend on the design also? 7. I think depends on whether u'd have guests coming now and den.. It just u 2 maybe a bar top suffices? Nowadays no hard and fast rules that houses should have dining tables la.. But maybe u can have bar counter and dining table if space permits!? Haha.. 8. Hacking and relaying is definitely better den overlaying but abit more expensive for the hacking part, but it's worth the money to hack off the floor and relay the waterproofing membrane.. I remember one contractor told me something about overlaying, saying he he wont guarantee there won't be any leaks in the future if i overlay.. Best is hack la, u won't know if there's any existing problems with the current flooring, and on top of that it'll make the flooring higher.. Dat's my suggestion.. As for the ceiling fans thingy, i think dat ceiling fans should be mounted on the actual ceiling because of the weight, and also the distance from the false ceiling to ur floor is a factor.. Safest to hang it on the actual ceiling.. I initially wanted a false ceiling which stretches all the way across the middle of the ceiling, but wifey wanted a ceiling fan so had to give up that idea.. Most of the IDs would recommend making a hole on the false ceiling to accomodate the fan, but the hole will be quite big and i think it's ugly... Actually false ceilings u do on both sides or do a U shape also very nice with those cove lights.. I saw a few houses lidat, very nice! Better den L Boxes.. Can ask ur id to suggest, unless u die die must have the design of the false ceiling den maybe need a hole for it lor.. Cheers

Wow, the place is small but very nicely done up.. Very very nice.. The location also seems like a nice and quiet place.. Basically u don't have to do anythin to the flat bah.. Prob like u said some furnitures, lights and probably sanitary items? *Edit: Oh, wait, u paid $340k rite? Wah, envy..
-
Congrats.. If my house was already in this condition, I would only be doing up some carpentry.. Hahaha.. Very nice house u got there.. Hope to see more pics.. And good luck for ur reno starting tomorrow! I totally agree with u dat no matter how extensive or minor the reno is, the Feel of a Home is the most important element... Cheers..

Ok, thanks, saw the pic, dat's what I want.. Hahaha, will use $22 as a reference.. Osram/Philips which one is better/cheaper? Or are there any other brands? -
Hahaha, I actually got the floor plan from the previous owners too, but there were some drawings in pen and I had to scan and take away some of the drawings (lines and dotted lines and stuff).. Den I thought why not buy online in pdf format.. Hahaha.. Come to think about it, waste money even if it's $5, cuz the old plan is actually good enough.. hahaha.. Yah, follow what pet says, print screen, paste it onto paint den save as jpeg..

Hahaha.. Dat's why I always say, talk is big.. Hahaha.. Let's see if he'll reply me today.. I rather he walk the talk den talk the walk.. Oh, ok, so cheap ah.. Really tempting.. haahaha.. So, how much did u get ur downlights for/or quoted for, so it's with the bulbs and the case? I'm looking for white square ones.. Any pics of the ones u got or getting? Yah, dat was what I supposed so la, lidat my whole ceiling for the house easily costs $4k odd sia with the downlights, T5, (I think around 1k or more?) ceiling fans (1k), false ceiling (2k odd) and chandelier(350) & sum other lights la.. Ok, btw, how much did u get urs for and any pics? -

Yah lor.. Not 101 excuses but 1001 and excuses.. Hahaha.. Anyways, yah lor, my wife and I discussed liao, going for slim hood.. Toilet fittings and kitchen fittings all havent buy.. I'm setting aside $2.5k for dat and another $1k for lights since $1k is already set for 4 ceiling fans with light kits, only need to buy the downlights, kitchen and bathroom lights, moreover0 I have bought my dining lights liao.. Anyways, any idea whether Ah Soon's false ceiling quote includes the case for the downlights? As in the square glass looking thing to contain the lights? If not, how much will they cost? I have around 20 lights sia.. And how much will T5 lights cost? Haha, maybe! Hahah, no lah, I think doesnt fit into themes bah.. But seriously, more gals are into it den guys lah.. I havent have one guy who told me it's nice as of now.. Hahaha.. Hmm, die die.. I think I must tighten my purse liao and buy what we really need den want.. Yah, I got my quote in English as I'm applying for partial loan from the bank mah.. I actually havent got the official one which I need to submit.. Wah, see, all 3 overspend budget.. I suppose Mrspiglet also exceeded liao rite? Hahaha.. Die Die Die... No money liao.. Hahaha.. -

Yo aubrey, don't be confused.. My wife and I had verbally agreed to his quotation and should be signing the official documents soon.. I think he hasnt got it ready yet.. Hahaha.. I think I'll stick to him one bah.. Anyways, did I say I've signed officially with him? Cuz I havent, but I was 99.9% sure I'd sign with him unless somethin really really big happens.. (the issue mentioned above is not big, hahaha, just a passing thought la dat I can save $2k..) Hope that clears everything.. -
Wah, facebook sia.. Wu yia boh.. I don't have facebook leh.. Friendster can or not? HAahahaha... Hmmm, ya lor, I think he'll have to space out his projects, hope he'll be able to juggle them well bah.. I don't think he'll compromise quality of the work bah, maybe unintentionally due to heavy workload? But he once told me that it only takes one bad job to bring down all the effort of all his other good jobs done.. People always remember the 1 bad job, rather den the 100 good ones..

Wah, marble!! LUCKY U... How I wished my ex owner had used marble or at least homogenous.. Mine is like ashes02, ceramic.. But not in a good condition la.. Hahaha.. Anyways, think u should keep it if it's not dat bad la.. Save money.. Unless it totally cannot fit into the theme u are creating la.. I think there should be a protective coat bah.. Should have one if not it'll be hard to get rid of stains man..
-
Hey! Firstly congrats to ya.. Wow, I must say $15k Cov to $15k below Val is a big difference.. Lucky u didnt find any unit during the weeks between ur 1st viewing and the 2nd viewing.. Hmm, 75sqm seems very small.. Would like to see a original floorplan if you have one.. Hahaha.. Never seen one dat small before, maybe I'm sua ku like ashes02.. Hahaha..

Yah, I know I'm not comfortable with people who can make so many promises so easily, he havent even taken a look at the quotation and boldly proclaim he can match me for everything I was quoted and still deduct $2k from it.. He said sumthin about contractors usually earning around $4k or so for a sum of around $23k(which is around the price I was quoted).. But he said he'll earn $2k from me can already.. And yah, if I seriously consider him, I'm gonna have to look at actual units to decide.. I'm already very confident and comfortable with Ah Soon's worksmanship, unless he can exceed or match Ah Soon's standard arbo no way I'm gonna switch.. Anyways, yah lor, ur situation, they are clearly marking up a hefty amount for their initial quote to be able to match the price Ah Soon is offering.. $5k is alot! -

Really bleeding now.. Gotta cut down on expenses elsewhere.. My $1400 fridge idea gtg, set at below $1k now.. W.M cut down to under $500.. Hahaha.. Hob and hood not getting chimney one anymore, cuz wife say need mre cabinet space and also flat type save more money.. Need to revise my budget liao.. Hahaha.. The initial budget for just furnishing and appliances seems like not enough.. Sianz, I think need to settle on cheaper things but cannot compromise too much on quality la.. -

Yesterday I went down to Furniture Mall and spent around $6k on a few things, a black tempered glass dining table with 6 chairs, an L Shaped half PU leather sofa and a coffee table for $2,800.. All these bought from Comfort Living at The Plaza which is beside Furniture Mall.. Den I bought a Max Coil mattress with a custom storage bed frame for a total price of $3088 before Gst.. Heart Pain.. The Max Coil Mattress is very comfy, but I've overstretched my budget.. The Mattress is around $1850 and the frame is around $1238 lor.. Quite ex.. Anyways, the model I bought is the Max Coil, Texas Classic Plush top with natural latex and silk coverings.. Dunno whether $1850 worth it or not.. But really very comfy lah.. Hahaha.. Wifey made the decision but I was half decided.. I know $3k can get me better brands like Sealy or Dunlopillo, but den hor, probably not in this range one.. And probably just a normal bedframe, the bed frame I bought is a low micro fabric covered bed frame with storage on one side, custom made to fit nicely into the room accomodating the aircon trunkings so that it will flush with the wall or sumthin lah, the SA told me one.. Anyways, he said he give me price warranty of 1 year, if I can find cheaper pricing elsewhere in 1 year, he will refund me money.. Hahaha.. Anyone bought for cheaper prices? He keep stressing this is natural latex top while most are synthetic latex top and cotton covering while this is silk.. Got so big difference ah!? Anyways, gotta ask opinions too, the SA was very sincere la, very thorough in his presentation.. Den he kept telling me he can help me get contacts for milk powder, electronic products like TVs, Fridge and W.M at wholesale price.. Dunno true or not la.. Den he told me he does renovations too.. He asked me to fax over my quotation and he'll deduct $2k straight away from it.. Was quite skeptical of the idea.. I told my wife, $2k u sure or not, later the reno not up to standard how? I rather place my money on someone I can really trust like Ah Soon.. My wife later agrees cuz she say to start over the process of negotiation and explaining what we wanna do is very cumbersome, moreover we dunno what we're gonna get from that guy.. What do u guys think? $2k is very tempting la.. Hahaha.. Anyways, the guy is from a shop at 2nd Level in FM, anyone interested to know which shop can PM me.. So, I blew close to $8k in 2 weeks, and my 2nd appointment will only be around 1 month's time away.. Hahaa.. This is what I call gan jiong..
