  1. Hi Rasp, Wah that sounds complicated leh, got to remove screw some more...I read somewhere that the oil container type no good cause if over night you did not empty it, will be smelly. This is the first time i use a hood, so I've got nothing to compare in terms of the efficiency, I've sealed steak previously under smoky intense heat in a open fry pan, and after that there's slight odor in the kitchen. Otherwise other normal cooking like stew, sauteing it works pretty well, no need to mop floor after cooking and no smell. The model we get is a 1000m3/hr which i believe is the highest the power can go in the market. I've clean it once, quite easy, just unlatch the metal mesh filter and submerge in hot soapy water in the sink for a while then rinse off, i don think need to clean the blower, cause there's another layer of filtering after the mesh filter which is the charcoal filter, not sure whether need to clean this as when i inspect it's not oily. the charcoal is suppose to neutralize the smell. Then after this charcoal filter is the blower. I guess by the time the air suck in reach the blower it is already purified so the fan should remain clean. Regarding the hob, you are right the rinnai model is easier to clean, i actually spill once when over boilling water and it over flow out of the pot. but then the small dish below the range catch it nicely, no mess. I would say cleaning this hob is very easy but still i will prefer for stainless steel plate, more durable and stress free i guess, for the way i cook. I use to have a industrial type hob in my previous house which i was kind of used to the cooking style. You just cannot flip or glide your pan casually. Although i was told that this ceramic glass is not easy to break and stronger than tempered glass, but who knows? It's still glass...haha. If you are getting this Rinnai rob, make sure you control the fire level, don go full blast, it's too hot for angmoh cooking. But for chinese quick stir fry, go ahead and bring up the fire, but this only apply to traditional carbon steel/cast iron wok, don go melt your coating if you are using non stick or enameled wok. Anyway after sometime you will slowly get a grip on it. Go shop around for diff price, we ask a few till we get the best deal, the diff is 200 bucks. Seems like the profit margin is quite high they can play ard with it. From what i know the best deal is at chuan heng and asia excel. by the way we get it in a package, including the oven, which is cheaper than buying separately. Remember to bargain!
  2. Hey man, There's only 1 disadvantage for this hob, the ceramic glass. After using a while and always scared of breaking it. If given another chance i will get the fujioh inner flame hob which uses stainless steel for it's plate. I would feel more relax and can focus on cooking instead of worrying about the glass. This is good for those who is gentle enough ppl. Moreover the Fujioh is much cheaper, only 1 third of the price.
  3. I suggest using rubber eraser to clean the crayon mark.
  4. You can ask the electrician to setup the switches anyway you want, either controlled all the lights by single switch or seperate them and place the switches at their respective position. Light bulb is standard T5 light, very easy to change. Just remove from the clip and replace, like normal ceiling florescent light. If the space that you wanna install lights is less than 1 feet, you can't use T5 cos the shortest is 1 feet. However you can use halogen light, but it will be a bit hot. Halogen is commonly called spotlight, you can find that usually on hood that come with built-in ilumination.
  5. I think XBB is referring to the workspace measurement. That will be 40cm on the left of the sink for preparation that needs washing, 60cm in between sink and range for chopping and cutting, and 30cm on the right of the range for sauce and oil. Main preparation area will be the 60cm space, not too far apart so that it is easier to reach the sink when cooking yet big enough to fit in 2 large cutting board. The refrigerator is just opposite the sink, this layout is built and design based on the kitchen work triangle. These workstations are closed to each other to minimized traveling time between them.
  6. How can compare song cho with generic brand? Yi fen yi fen huo, same theory as the blum vs generic drawer track.
  7. As what i've mentioned in earlier post, there's removable mesh cover, you can easily open it anytime to access the pipe. Ah soon won't do anything that is against hdb regulation, this is my observation so far while dealing with him. I'll take picture of the mesh cover so you understand what i meant.
  8. Aubrey, The reason why you need a storage heater for rain shower is because of water pressure. Different estate has different water pressure, usually the newer flats will have higher water pressure and if you live high floor the water pressure will be lower due to the effect of gravity, then you will have problem. Storage heater will solve this problem by combining water source from the roof top water tank and your storage heater to increase the water pressure, storage heater also comes with built-in pump to further boost the water flow. When you try to use rain shower or large shower head with low water pressure, you will vomit blood; the water will drizzle rather than spray out. Rain shower must have strong heavy downpour, then is shiok and feel like rain rinsing away your daytime stress.
  9. It's okie to box up the sewage pipe, if you notice there's mesh closure at the pipe joint that is removable in case need to do servicing. But this thing is built to last a life time, i never heard of anyone's toilet pipe having problem. Toilet pipe box up is one thing that i feel is a must for home reno. That pipe is so disgusting, I don't even want to see or touch it.
