  1. Here's the update pics of the redone pebbl wash. The pic on the left is the latest attempt, while the right pic is previous one Step 1. After pouring in the pebble (a mixture of pebble & cement & water) the shifu had to use a tool to tap & flatten the surface. Step 2. Use a painting roller to make the surface more uniform & smoother. Notice that this round is done by a different shifu? According to this shifu, my contractor had sent the previous one back to Malaysia to look after some durian plantation, maybe that place is more suitable for him. Step 3. Notice the difference? The previous one use a sponge to dry the excess wet cement while this only use the roller. Another stunning discovery! Actually this shifu is the disciple of the previous shifu. Some 20 years ago, when he worked as an apprentice, the previous shifu was his teacher! Wao! like the saying goes " in the big sea, the back wave push the front wave". Step 4. Leave to dry. Finally you got the nice pebble. Verdict : Owner : Left one = pass! Right one = pass also. Contractor : Left one = pass! Right one = fail! As owners, we really need our contractor to do the qc check for us as they've seen more of these than us. Another angle.
  2. Hi lubbi, Thanks for your feedback. Actually the pebble wash is for the floor & not the base. Wao! the pebble will drop out after some time resulting in a hole, that's quite an eye sore. Is it due to workmanship of its the nature of pebble wash?
  3. Some updates but not latest as rt was down. This area will be for the pebble wash, again. Tomorrow will update with the new pebble wash. Let's see if there is any improvement from the previous.=)
  4. Hi mackeith, Thanks for your feedback. Looks like wifey prefer to go with the victorian laminate. =) Hi alya, I think to cut cost you should be able to change your cabinet laminate.=) Hi Jupiter, I already had the 3 diff colour drawings, paiseh to ask Edmund for the 4th one, think more or less I should be able to figure after I saw honeygal cabinet.=)
  5. Hi mrspiglet, Manage to check with my contractor regarding the permit. He said changing of all sewarage pipe no need permit.
  6. Hi all, I've just got the A4 size laminate sample. previous photo Hi all, what do you all think of the combi this time? All remarks are welcome! Saw the top laminate at "Honeygal" blog, can't find any lizard.
  7. Some more pics to share Notice the pipe already changed. Sorry no photo for that, wifey worry about the smell so much until forget to take photo. =( Is this what they called "brick & mortar" work? Tomorrow they will continue on the support work.
  8. Hi Rune, nice to see you around. PM sent. =)
  9. Find your dining chair very cute, one pair match with sofa, one pair match with wall shelves.=)
  10. Hi Jupiter, nice to see you around. Wifey told me you also using same contractor, anyway your signature also stated.=)
  11. Hi StitcheDust, if you are still reading, I believe different contractor might do the plastering using different methods. Utimately you got to trust on your appointed contractor to do his job well, if you don't trust him, then will be difficult to work together. =)
  12. Hi mrspiglet, Managed to find the answer for you. My contractor told me that this punch hole aka knock hole is to make surer the plastering got more 'grip' to the wall, else the plastering will not last or like jesperbg's case, 'peel off'.
  13. Hi all, Sorry to you all for the waiting & concern My contractor really did something unbelievable, but not what you all had been thinking. Wifey forever kan chiong queen. I shall give you all a first hand account. Yesterday contractor was to hack the concrete support. The Bunga worker arrived 8+. As usual, he proceed to cover the kitchen entrance with those plastic sheet. I was helping him to ensure that even a fly cannot go through. Then he proceed with his hacking while I retreat to my room. About an hour later, I went back to see & also want to take some photos. To my horror, the bunga hack more than the concrete support. Do you know what he hacked? He go & hack my NEWLY done up pebble wash. Immediately I chong in & scold him. He said boss say act (hack) one. Immediately, I call my contractor. Me : Hi Edmund Contractor : yes ( a weak voice, sounds like he still playing with the zzz… monster ) Sensing that, I think I need to orientate him a bit else wait his cpu hang. Me : I so & so ar,you're suppose to send someone over today to hack the support right? Contractor : yes Me : do you know he hack more than what he's suppose to hack? Contractor : Oh! Whats that? ( now his voice loud & clear now) Me : he go & hack my pebble wash also Contractor : oh, ok that one I know (WTF) he knew what I was talking anot? Me : I repeat, your worker hack my newly done up pebble wash Contractor : yes, I know, I told him to hack one because the current one not nice lar Me : you sure hor? Contractor : very sure, I'll see you in 1 hour's time. Me : ok (both party hangup) Later he came over & said that the current pebble wash not up to his standard that's why he hack off & want to redo again. In my heart, I was thinking, is he crazy or what, too rich is it, vitamin M offended him arh? For this, I really salute him. I would like to thank you all for the concern. Here's the photos. closed up shot of the pebble hacked sink support this pipe has to go
  14. Hi all, this may sounds silly but its becoming a reality. Me & wifey decided that we're going to change the sewerage now & not wait till the upgrading. This pipe will be replace to pvc type. We've also decided to replace this concrete support. Meeting contractor today to finalise our latest changes.
  15. For those who don't know what is pebble wash, here you are. Happen to be around when the Shifu was doing. A process more complicated than laying tiles. Step 1. After pouring in the pebble ( a mixture of pebble and cement and water ) the Shifu had to use a tool to tap & flatten the surface. Step 2. Use a painting roller to make the surface more uniform and smoother. Step 3. Use a sponge to dry the excess wet cement. Step 4. Leave to dry. Finallly you got the nice pebble wash. Another angle.
