is yours 3room? so far 2 have quoted 1k for plastering for my place (floor plan in 1st post) and that is a reasonable charge to me for entire house + ceiling. perhaps u can try to bring it down cos u have a better chance to nego for cheaper rather than to go to another just for painting and plastering. less work they charge more. more work = room to nego

merryman, dont be surprised. yrs 3NG shld be bigger than my 3i. if so, i have quotes ranging from 25k ~29k which consists of whole house hacking. be prepared to bargain very hard. for a sample quotation, take a look at my t-blog. link is in my signature.

u can try to ask big_orange, his ID was DeFong. i am still in discussion with them, so far no hidden cost and workmanship is good but i have only been to 2 places. u can ask him to bring u to his completed flats. all in all i am quite comfy with him. now tough part is the $$.

what a difference the downtime for t-blog makes. so fast its done. wa so jealous your 21k is money well spent. so far all my quotes are like 25k and there's one that totally made me puke blood + all other internal organs! $29k!! for god knows what! he just come to our place, we briefly tell him what we want cos he seems to not need to hear us out, keep telling us he will save for us and kept bantering in hokkien with my mom. mom thought that his quote will be good since he was so proactive about helping us save and then wham bam $29k in my face with no floor plan layout of whats to be done etc. all i can say is that he charges so bloody freaking high! e.g wrought iron gate i can get for $400 for basic design he quote me $700! already knew that i need to save all i can still give me such ex door. a door is a door i dont think his door is made of gold! design wise i believe basic will suit me just fine and beggars cant be choosers but wow!! i was floored by him!! made my blood boil. if your $21k can get you such good work i am motivated to get the best possible price for mine!!

applefreak are u using granite for your tabletop? some IDs said there's pros and cons to it. granite per slab at its longest is 6ft, anymore than that i have to add two slabs tgt and the "joint marks" will show and i cannot chop heavily on it lest it cracks/breaks. is all that true? hee hee maybe i can go check it out before deciding on solid surface if difference is not too big. still waiting for other quotes to come in. pinkpetter nope not bellus, some other brand. is it true that some solid surface tops are made in singapore? will that be better? (support local movement!) how much are the LG ones? cant recall how much the ID quote me for corian cos im not keen so i didnt make a point to rmb it. jupiterhome perhaps u can say in 7 days we may cook 4 ~ 5 days, considered a lot? i think it is quite a bit leh..

hi FLY, i saw the pics of your kitchen and shoe cabinet if you are staying in semb!! zack is a nice guy, totally forgot we shifted our meeting from tues to mon so he called me in the office and had to wait for me so far his quotes are pretty standard and he seems to be straightforward and i did tell him my irritation earlier that day with this other ID that quoted me 29k with no floor plan layout of what is to be done nor any explanation of the various costs of what was in his quote, dropped him like a hot potato. hope that zack is the one to deliver. ps: i think he said chrome piping is ex followed by s/s then cheapest is copper.

hi shogen, yup we requested for homogeneous. actually without u to say that, i assumed that homogeneous is already full body, so u mean its not? and i have to specifically bring up to them? tsktsk.. lucky you told me of this. regarding the altar, we will be keeping it, no sense in selling and i guess the ID just have to design something to make it fit in, since ID is their job. my toilet is divided into two, is the issue with the kerb still applicable? i dont quite get the stepped kerb tho.. and yes u are right, my mom wants to install grilles for safety + security and i for one am all for it! heh! yea i have to check on the price differences for granite and consider from there. cost is my top concern but if granite is more durable then i think we might just go for that if the difference is not that big. is yrs granite?? wa actually i told them 14k - 15k based on the checklist of things to be done, is that reasonable?? cos till now i am still wondering if it is. i hope some IDs have promos for either free hood/hob, aircon, tv etc. this time gotta be thickskinned!
