when uncle came we picked this. im starting to NOT like it. should i have it all white? suggestions? i wanted grey but they have no matt non slippery good grey tiles at sin lek. close up. there's some groove lines within the tiles. ok the more i blog about it, the more i do not like it. out of the 3 tile samples we brought back uncle says this is the best. i was afraid that dirt will be trapped within the groove lines he say won't. but now i dont want the lines at all! floor tiles we chose. somehow not too much difference. must ask uncle which ones we chose. cannot remember which ones we picked. but still not too bad since it's more whitish than anything else. with flash on, and the living room lights on. i wont be having any fancy cove lights nor l-box in my living room. just those plain old lights you saw earlier. not sure if they will turn out nice. all suggestions, comments and feedback are welcome!

i asked him to pass me first. cos i feel i havent done enough planning so i need to plan exactly what i want and visualize it for myself. i gotta give myself a crash course in sketchup later. i want to give it a modern minimalist look so i want to see the colors etc. and yea, im a control freak. and here's some tiles we chose. - close up of motif this is option 1 for bath + toilet. kinda feel like it's a tad overdone and will stick out like a sore thumb in the overall flow of my design somehow! if my kitchen is black and white theme and my bath & WC is screaming colours... dont think it will work. this is option 2 for the bath/WC area. have this as backup in case the tiles before were too ex but uncle says he will just absorb. the kitchen wall tiles. i will lay it horizontally as i think it will make my kitchen look larger. ignore the black mosaic, i wont be using that at all. i am going for clean cut look with no disturbing elements. i have a qns. i have this beam that is in my kitchen, will you recommend putting wall tiles for that beam or simply leave it alone with no tiles? i dont want the beam to look outstanding, and the wall tiles are glossy so i thought if pasted on, the beam will be right in your face. :/

i have to join the next one. i think 2nd is ok.. will ask my mom to go, better for her too. and now i am currently asking uncle to leave the selections of lami n paint with me.

ya he subside bços he can finish faster and can ask his people to come in for a shorter period of time so i think that's where he passed on the subsidies. very nice of him, no complaints. u know, i was having such a major headache over this whole issue of accomodation but now we got it all sorted. yup finally now that all is sorted, can get back on track to the reno and design! but i feel ill prepared and i dunno if can still start on 4may. till date i have not met jason, have not chosen materials nor given any reference books to choose laminates, paint colors etc. i feel so lost again!!

alrighty all, we got it sorted. renting the flat next door. if uncle dont forget, my start date is 4may08. he said will be done by end may. but i still have to clear up his quote with him!! he forgot to fax me my chinese quote. YAY YAY YAY!!

did u guys cut cost from doing that? and how was the cleaning aftwards? is it very bad/dusty for things u packed into boxes?

ya the english quote less comprehensive yet more ex. dont know why. he asked me to read but we ended up talking abt our accommodation arrangement and stuff. wow U-shaped kitchen? how does it look like?? and pet, so means its effectively 32ft, pfr @ $100 right? update from ytd! spoke to the owner of the flat next to us. she is quite adamant on charging us $1,200 for renting the 3room with 1 room not in our use. so 1.2k for 1 bedroom, living, kitchen and 2 toilets. to me its quite pricey! for that amount i can probably get a nice tv. so back to the drawing board. 1 good thing is my nieighbour has so kindly agreed to let us stay with her for 2 weeks while ah soon works on my place. ah soon's plan is to hack living room, kitchen + bath & wc first and stuff 23 years worth of items into my 2 rooms. then once done, move it out and do the rooms. if only money wasn't the concern.

aubrey is on half day self imposed break pertaining to reno matters! (ok, so not true, i am actually going over quote ) yokine9a when it comes to buying ceiling fan, take note of ceiling height. when adding light to fan, try to buy it so it fits the circular portion exactly and not have it protrude out if not u get "cutting lights" due to the fan rotating and the shadows of the blades and u may feel giddy. for my fan, there's 4 speeds. to be honest, i placed it under my sofa. once i walk away, i dont feel the wind much. even at the highest speed. but the strength is decent when u are sitting under, does help to make the house more airy.

familyof4 i think i wanna tell him that too, dont want the freebies, its alright, price-wise gimme a nice one! pinkpetter yea kitchen pipes have been changed to PVC. 1 pipe in bathroom still cast iron so say want to change. but i dunno it wanna change it or just give it a new paint job and save the $200. oh wells.

16ft top and bottom. so 32ft in all. uncle's measurements quoted hope its accurate. he told me 7ft for bedroom 1 wardrobe when we wanted full length from wall furthest away from door to wall at door. others have said its about 9ft ~ 10ft. not sure about this.

i very blur now. did he give u a quote? he gave me a quote in english. and its the higher price. i dont have the chinese quote to see the breakdown carefully. should have asked him for it. our quote is fluctuating ard now. quite close to what ids are quoting me actually. can u share yours with me? i wonder what's his carpentry cost for all who are working with ah soon for the kitchen cabinets.. was your meeting a fruitful one?
