hi gaku, sounds like u have a quite nasty experience which was similar to what i face. to be frank, my house is not 100% complete and my floors are not polished either but we have shifted in with all our things still in boxes except for those in the kitchen since that area is already done. he did miss my HO date and wasted the 3 days of leave i took for moving home. i took yet another day off hen he told me he will polish it but that was also not done, so its 4 days in total i wasted. i chose to move back bcos of rental issues as well. i think the only thing to do when it comes to polishing the floor is to do it in a way where items are shifted around the house. from the time i moved back till now it has been almost a month (this weekend shld be a full month) and my tiles are still not polished. after i moved in there were still people coming to install things and dirtying the walls so i need to repaint, not considering my carpentry. sigh. i totally understand where u are coming from. to save myself from certain disappointment and unhappiness, i took to calling elder goh. (fyi he is doing proj.mgmt now but on a small scale) that helps a little but at the end of the day i still have to go back to uncle. i think u will be like me now, spotting areas that needs to be rectified but no energy to call uncle to chase for rectification, to clean up after that. oh well, now that u moved in, relax and enjoy a little first then if u have energy, u can start calling them for rectification works. dont delete your blog and ignore nonconstructive PMs. if they wanted to be constructive, they can simply post it here for all to see.

i think i seem to be the first to be assigned ah di. carpentry from him will be in on next sat. if i am still the first to get it from him, i will update u guys.

haha i am patient. i have not called uncle this week except ytd to ask about my t5 lights and carpentry concerns. getting distracted by GSS. need a break from this!! and it shld not be sat! it shld be sun cos sat im not around!! must check!

see uncle very teng u fannie. i dont know why but i get the impression that this group of polishers must be hard to get. i have been waiting for my turn. this is the 3rd week of waiting.

oh ya, u have the LG home theater! how is it? good? i have a choice of a LG home theater or a 22"LCD Tv which i still have not made up my mind on which to get. was thinking its a bit of an overkill to get HT for a small 3 rm flat. any reviews on it?

this particular spot is where the backing is not pasted well. if u see the reflection, its curved. not good.

i love white homes!! great choice, but quite hectic to maintain. hope to see more updates!

haha ok hearing all that, i am glad i dont see that side of uncle. if not i will most prolly be shocked by what i see. ok for asugama, my not very nicely done s/s backing in the kitchen. funny part is that clear silicone was used for the bottom, not the top. :/

fannie, can u give me an update on your polish so i know what to expect for mine? looking forward to mine. and about the windows.. i changed but its the old type, not the sliding type. so i guess old type no lock, only sliding have right?

no la, its the same thing, the silver one is the back. the one with digits is when the lock is functioning. correct me if im wrong.

ooo your s/s backing considered quite good. they used clear silicone? check mine out, its in my tblog. looks quite horrible.

so gaku any news on the tiles and the polishing to be done?

gaku, is the polishing done tonight? if so let me know how it goes? as far as i know, polishing is just to remove the wax on the tiles but does not smooth out uneven edges. for smoothing it out, i believe they will use the tile cutter to do it, i.e how they use it to create smooth edges like what u see for fridge and WM base. and i did not talk to uncle about this, cos in my desperation to get some attention to my place and the issues, i called elder goh. he was the one who will be co-ordinating it for me. but the first time on my HO when i told uncle about 1st round of uneven tiles, he promptly called elder goh to ask him to fix it. if u like i can help u notify elder goh if the polishing is still no good. fannie, you're right. but so far all the workers are okay and no complaints from me. no attitude nothing from them. :] for me its the other way round, uncle "pester" me to call them direct so the communication is limited to 2 parties and it helps reduce his workload. so far i have not seen him F anyone. either that or my hokkien understanding is way too limited. pet, i think so man. cos uncle scold scold not happy tell u next day dont come!

ooo asugama i have the same issue too. the s/s backing has too much white silicone peeping out from the edges, one part where the corner edge is not stuck properly so looks a bit curved/warped and when i press it i can see the tension. let me know what uncle did for u? then i can get uncle to help with mine.

the tilers gave my mom a small glass with the grout material for us to patch on our own. hmm. for my tile problem, just to clarify with all, i spoke to elder goh. not uncle. he gave me open invitation to call him for anything and everything so im keeping to my end of the promise.

overspill meaning its not neat right? and it spills out onto tile surface? i believe they use the edge of the pen knife to slowly scrape off. but i think we better check with uncle. my house has a lot too and i wanna neaten it. neat freak i am!

i'll say save the leave, move all into house. for those that are in boxes, just unpack bit by bit on weekends or weekdays if u are free. that is what i did. dont wanna take more leave for this and no hurry to unpack as well. maybe u can do the same.

they retile for me. cut out the affected and tile again. i asked if can polish off but they said cannot/no such thing. after the ah mei fiasco i think uncle dare not give me another ****ty one. if its bad again, i will seriously reject. i opted for them to install on sat so i can be around to QC first hand.
