angel81 thanks! i think so too. initially uncle wanted bronze but i insisted on white. thank goodness i insisted. ivy so confusing! u call him uncle too! he doesnt like the motif is it? oh i did not buy oven, out of budget. think i will just get a portable one. i saw a baby belling going for $200+ at mustafa. so maybe when i am more settled down i can consider that. and i think my toilet bowl seems quite small now that you've said it!!! cannotisit i cant, i paid for the deposit at courts! at most i can perhaps switch a model but i cant cancel my purchase. anyway, i have a good list of shops for buying electrical at a lower price since they are neighbourhood stores, lower overhead than courts hence better cash price to buy.

cannotisit just some quick finds while looking for my hob/hood. i lean more to asian brands for the large fire needed in asian cooking. i also picked one close to the 3.5W burners i am using which helps me to narrow down. i find that fujioh are really good for hoods, not too bad for hobs so i got it. and rinnai is the opposite and they have been copying each other. this particular fujioh hood is good for me cos its cost effective. if u read it, it has 83% fume absorption which is good enough without spending a bomb. both hob and hood cost me $685, a big dip from my original plan of rinnai which was $1,900++ but that is of cos me choosing the most expensive hob and still looking at their katana hood. choose based on your cooking methods, not for looks. looks wont serve you, only functionality will. xvirusga76 change!!! now my windows blends in seamlessly. my kitchen window sticks out like a sore thumb but we have no more money for that so just too bad, gotta live with it. if u got spare cash, make yourself happier. i believe in that. or do you want me to take more pics to convince you? 10 May 09 - Sunday we went shopping! got the hob and hood from fujioh. just points to note while buying your hob (i hope cannotisit is reading) A hob should have 4 items ideally: 1) Safety Valve - It cuts off gas in the event that your flame goes off while you are boiling soup and the wind is too strong. 2) Removable burner head - Pure and simple, for the ease of cleaning. 3) No holes in Burner - There are times when you leave your pot on for too long and the water overflows and may get into the burner. The area surrounding the burner should be easily removed for cleaning purposes but at the same time, the hole within the burner should not be too big, and it should be elevated so that it gets out of the way of water. Remember, your wirings are under it, you won't want water much less hot boiling water to seep in. 4) Cast Iron Legs As it suggests, cast iron is very strong, better than the standard issue enamel legs. Get an upgrade as the salesman put it, cast iron legs will outlast me.

UPDATES - 9 & 10 May (over the weekend) shower tiles are up! nice and new! kinda regretting the white, it looks so... blah. prefer the black but i think my mom will strongly object as the floor is black. of course a bigger view to see tiles with white window for xvirusga76 rainshower will be installed where the black tiles are aka feature wall.

ivy i think i will go for a light color at the top, maybe clear netting glass. then the rest are white. not used to sliding windows at all! especially so when it's corridor unit. white windows rocks! xvirusga76 i will say if u are doing the toilets then change. cos it will affect the tiles around it however slight it may be. if not, then just get some value out of it by using it and replacing it later on (but then by which time i dont think u will want to, the interest would have worn off) but hor.. since its "rusty" then just change it!

i think its a bad sign that u are stressed by the reno when you start to dream of kitchen appliances. i dreamt of my cooker hood. well to make up from friday (after clearing my deadline ytd at work!) my white windows were installed for the WC & bath area. received compliments from my neighbour and he asked uncle for quotation for the windows. Updates from Day 5 (08/05/09) My Shower Area window Toilet More to follow. For those who just happening to be reading, I will follow advice posted here (forgot who.. ) to go for black rubber strips for my PD doors so as to not see the mould and stuff over long periods of use. A great tip if you asked me.

familyof4 yea i trust uncle if he chooses to delegate to others, but i just want him to still be our project manager.

just a quick note, i manage to get uncle ytd and i must say that uncle is really firm on his assurance to me about the entire situation and will go all out to make sure he delivers. he told me he will get someone else to speak to me about the carpentry so its ok with me. i have to say, no regrets choosing uncle. i just spend more effort on proj. management. no matter how busy uncle is, his level of standard remains unchanged and might i say he's got good "pr" skills trying to reassure frazzled reno owners like myself.

Weird.. jason called me today saying he is coming when uncle called me and has already postponed the meeting with me till tmr. jason says he can only make it today so we rushed back from dinner to talk to him. when we reached he was on the phone and i think something came up and he said he had to leave. wonder what kind of problem is there at this hour that he needs to rectify. now jason said i wont be talking to him but to uncle tmr. so when am i ever going to know about the carpentry? this is really ticking me off slightly.

ya do get grilles! its quite scary. or either that u can create a jap style kind of seating area where u get a platform there in wood and have some cushions. put tatami and then create cosy corner! but of cos its quite pricey..

can u believe my bedroom light is like yours but its brown & rounded? just to let u know, its too dark for me! hence i had to take out the "covering" and leave 3 naked bulbs dangling around and justify it to friends who ask me that its an industrial inspired piece! so if u want cosy, its okay. if not, pls reconsider. cos in the light shop, u cant tell since alot of other lights are on at the same time, it looks nice. when u bring it home, its another story. washing? i just dunk it into a small pail of water and spin it around (like how WM spins your clothes) then leave it to dry.

ya!! the workers turned on my lights and fan as well! while they were in the kitchen! from day to night! if it happens again i will have to bring it up to uncle. i dont mind u turning on while having lunch cos hot weather. but when u are not even using it to speak, pls switch it off! today his elder brother came and started to hack off the part of my wall where my switch box is, a part of it is cracked now. so sad.

pet! so sorry if u have been camping for pictures! just realised that i did not bring my card reader to office and its a crazy monday. my email at work is down! thought can do less work but now have to do more by calling everyone to send email to my personal email add. growl! will have to go home to upload it. familyof4 yup pretty smooth sailing! i cant complain. uncle's men and uncle are such nice kind people, best thing is my house is getting better bit by bit. btw, do u have pics of your kitchen floor tiles? they delivered the wrong ones to me and i am waiting for the right ones, taking some time. and i have not seen it as uncle recommended me to get yours. growler my master tiler is the best, he is meticulous, i like it as i am into details. the rest are ok, but just a little slow. i offered to trade cos u said u wanted them to work over the weekends. my grouting is not done yet, i hope they know to match the tiles with the correct color for grout. michele the post i am talking about is here: CLICK i cant speak since i did not use him. but if ur experience was good, then perhaps its a one off case. either way, eagerly looking forward to your pics!
