  1. wendy, i am really really most touched + grateful to you for the planning on top of your own moving and all the nitty gritty cleaning u have to do!!!:bow: honestly i did not think much and jason sort of rushed me thru it. >:/ when i called him, he said the cabinet is completed! but if i want to make changes i can call the guy. after looking at my sketch of the kitchen from jason, yes it seems like those swing out doors and no drawers at all!!! i think your planning is good but i was intending to have the pull out for sauce and spice rack in the middle where my food prep area & stove is. cos i will need the spice and sauce to marinate at the prep area and also when i am cooking. i told jason about it. i hope he remembers. i have drawn an alternative, very rudimentary since i do not have the luxury of time to draw it nicely for now. basically it builds of what u have planned for me. and our plates and bowls arent too much since there's only 2 of us, and we will need extras only when the guests come so i think 1 drawer/shelf should be able to house them all, at most 2. here's my plan based on yours! (drawn till quite ugly) notes: those diamond shaped thingy are meant to be the swing out doors where we will place items that are hardly used eg slow cooker, pots/pans, mom's knick knacks etc. PS: may i know how much all those fittings/racks cost? we have exceeded budget. on another note, in my quotation uncle placed my measurements for kitchen at 13ft. now that they have come to take the "official" measurements, will they tell me if there's reduction to the overall measurement? could sorely use any rebates from uncle now.. aubrey needs to press her panic button.. now!
  2. OH NOOOO I THINK HE STARTED WORK ALREADY! I WILL TELL HIM TO DO THE REST FIRST! Pls replan, cos i need all the help i need on this. i will call him now
  3. ok.. in response to ocheeeng, bon07 has highlighted it. i feel that it makes sense and the only possible things that i have to place is prolly a dvd player, my wii and the subwoofer.. maybe on the console itself. so looking at the things i have to place, i dont think its very heavy. and i definitely want something thats easy for me to connect to. jason did mention should i want the roller shelf, he can add it on for me later. still have some time to deliberate on that. pet i am ks. more storage does not hurt, but as it is my shelf space is really really limited cos of my tight space. i wanted a pantry to store dried food, biscuits etc but looks like there's no way. my mom wanted to store 2 gas cylinders! 1 for cooking 1 for standby, i voiced out against her (with the help of jason ) so i managed to convince her to standby a tank when its close to running out (how to tell i wont know..) i want more shelf space, but i dont see how that is possible. i love my tv console wall too! cos its totally flush against the wall, leaving me with tons of space in my living room to play around with loose furniture bought from ikea in the future. gaku07 i am not going to touch those things once installed unless there's absolute reason where i have to. until then, im happy!
  4. alright major major update!! here is my carpentry sketches from jason! pls all, any and every input will be valuable in case i overlooked something! so pls fire away!! my tv console wall. its recessed as per my floor plan. im supposed to have more stuff on the other side of the wall but jason is not sure if it will be too cramped. so taking a rain check on that. any room for improvement? (ps: i asked him about roller shelves where the DVD players etc goes but he said those things are usually problematic) the kitchen! another important place. i wanted a pantry next to my fridge but its a little tight as it is. and he said not so ideal cos the hob will be near the pantry and he is afraid that it might catch fire.. is it even possible??? quite sad to say after pouring over so much interior design mags, going to blum website, driving myself nuts over the different zones, and we settled the kitchen within 30 mins with nothing much to change in their drawn layout. so anti-climax. my wardrobe! mom's wardrobe!
  5. urgh hearing about the corian top sounds like a nightmare. i think it steels me for mine! think its time to get ready. i am applying for 3 days worth of leave just to do this! as it is i am already stressed, i think moving back and finally settling in will take even more out of me. urgh. plus i am the only one co-ordinating everything and my mom is dependent on me too, more stress! i hope your ordeal is over. look forward to a nicely furnished house. mom & i still love your windy unit. ;]
  6. oh like lock & Store right? previously i was asked to go there too when i didnt manage to rent the unit im in. thank all my lucky stars the owner appeared close to our reno start date. if not, i cant imagine at well. lucky for u, its nominal, if not on top of reno fee, furniture fee and all other misc fee, still have to foot the full rental fee. can die!
  7. pet oh! hope i get to see some skirtings when i get back later! i got the pic from this place: Molla Space not cheap. maybe i can open store to sell these things and be my own boss *dreaming ivy oh so has the skirting been changed for you? now u have my pic u can use as a reference! 2.5cm thicker is really crazy man! got to slim it down! where are u storing your stuff? is it ex? ya mine die die 28th gotta move out if not its another month worth of rent. can die ar. so ex.. growl.
  8. u've got any theme in mind? i personally find it easier to plan with a theme in mind.
  9. wow ivy i love your tank, did u spend a bomb? thinking of doing one for my fishy too but 1 fish.. a bit lame. haiyer can rear 1 fish without any air pump or filter??
  10. familyof4, are u going to see uncle? cos i dont think i will be. if u can help to ask will be great, if not i will call him after work. that time he didnt include. doesnt really matter if i have wallpaper or not. no extra $ anyway.. ivy, poor thing!!! ya shrimps are very delicate to rear. u are good at rearing them since they reporduce, rear again when your house is done. just like me lor..
  11. no la dowan!!! so weird lor, keeping my contractor's pic!!! hahahaha!!!
  12. familyof4, ivy hahahahaha when i saw it i almost spat my fruit juice at my com screen, so funny! but quite "shuai" leh uncle. u can upload my pic of him and elder goh too! its the only posed for pic.
  13. IVY!!! did u post uncle's passport photo on the FB fan club? i was trying hard not to laugh in the office!!!
  14. i wonder if my contractor will do the same.. i think i have to tell him or he wont. hmm.. do u find it useful?
  15. ooo very informative. so u place all your devices on that pull out platform? does it cost extra to do it? its a fantastic idea.
  16. wow wow wow your place looks fantastic! i really love your kitchen!!! things are definitely looking great for you guys!
  17. ya jason sorta recommended some to us, something like what an ID does. hahaha. as well as paint scheme. i have to choose wallpaper for my tv feature wall and the guy from goodrich called me!! oh no i dont know if its very ex, if it is, i dont think we can afford to go for that. :/
  18. Angel81 yup, that out of place tile is where the hole is, my toilet bowl will be soooo lopsided. even if WC is installed, i think it will still be obvious? but we'll see how it goes. familyof4 kinda regretting! should have swapped the features around but i think my mom will scream, she dislike dark interiors. pinkpetter pet, still pending the tiles for kitchen (1/2 done) mom's room (1/2 done) and my room then its all good to go! does rooms come with skirting? yes right? i personally think it could be faster if not for the slower uncle. he kept chasing my mom away when she went to have a look citing safety reasons. my mom thinks otherwise.
  19. Updates from Day 13 - 17 May 2009 1 lone china worker came back to help, very touched. he plastered the hacked wall though he said its unnecessary to do so, but he did it so it looks nice. half done tiles from saturday by master tiler half done tiles for the kitchen. the tiles have groove lines and are rough. the china worker said these tiles are meant more for outdoor use, got us thinking twice but ah what the heck!! okay finally up to speed with the reno! now to work on my promised post for LCD/Plasma TV
  20. Updates from Day 12 - 15 May 2009 My living room has been completed! but I did not take pics since that area is now covered with all sorts of materials and my kitchen & bathroom fittings that were delivered is also placed there. pic of my skirting (for ivy to compare) it measures about 1.5cm WC & Shower area done! unfortunately the black tiles cant be aligned with my window, it looks odd and not centered but i guess its a matter of getting used to. and my toilet bowl is not gonna be centered due to the piping too. the hole is closer to the left. so odd!
  21. my only grouse is that the tiles can get very uneven! one of the areas in my shower place is uneven, we told the master tiler about out concern and he ask the other uncle (a plump guy) to redo it.. i think he's not too happy with that. after he redid it, its still the same thing... :x dunno what to do already.
  22. according to the tilers, thats where the bi-fold door's frame will be so im ok with the misalignment since it will be covered. initially i was a bit unsure but since they explained, im okay as long as its not seen. heh, i did not ask about skirtings for my living room too, just left it as such. i dont really want it anyway.
  23. Updates from Day 11 - 14 May 2009 Living Room tiles half done! Pictured here is the china worker in black (he's pretty good!) and the skinny guy, which is the master tiler. The kerb for my door, once door is fully closed, there is no allowance for dirt/dust to come in from outside, most handy during the times when the corridor washing is conducted, water won't seep in that easily. (half suggested by mom, fully done up be master tiler) The beam in the kitchen that is all tiled up by the china worker. looks really great to my surprise and it does not stand out despite it being tiled. i'm loving this beam now!
