  1. dont say! uncle dont come to mine also, unless i blog about it then ppl tell him then his focus is shifted to waterloo. i call him he also nvr come.
  2. its not related to your reno but if u look carefully at her name, kinda looks like so pree-tty. so pretty! so is she?
  3. yup after doing research, fujioh is one of the better brands around for its hood. hob is ok too since they copy rinnai and rinnai is good. my hood and hob still in its wrap cos my granite top not on yet.
  4. im not mad, im just getting tired nagging him. i dont like to nag to be honest. he just either forgets or dont listen. i told him about tv console, he said he will settle it for me. now they sealed it to my wall, how? i really feel so frustrated. on one hand asking him to tear down like not very nice. on the other hand, im living there, have to look at it everyday. its not like laminate pasted wrongly, its like different from the drawing i was given, different from what i kept telling them. i am disappointed with the outcome. not that its not unacceptable work, just the wrong thing done!
  5. dont worry! pop by ASAP before we shift things back cos it will be messy. it is ok, but not what i want. i have this huge feeling that uncle will say cannot change. when i discuss with him i told him flush, told jason to flush it, even the carpenter was there. all just dont LISTEN to me. grr. UPDATE! (Almost forgot) previously the guys used this brand of hinges called mobile for me with the blum damper (is that correct name?) for all my swing out shelves. after i checked with jason as i recalled they use irex for all. i didnt nag him to change it but today the carpenters changed it all for me! so all irex, took the blum and mobile back. weird.. also, with regards to the wood used and if there's differences to all his customers, jason said they passed ah bee/ah mei some projects. now that there's such feedback, they will QC materials used too. i believe ah mei is just out to cut cost. -_- check more if ah mei is your carpenter. today didnt meet uncle even though he said he will come in the afternoon. getting used to this so i dont care. at least they changed the wood used for the wooden top where my sink is. i was kinda expecting them to change the whole thing, carcass and all, but ya, keep dreaming aubrey.
  6. we have the exact same hob and hood!
  7. round 2 of carpentry rectifications. i told uncle on second day aft this is up that is wrong. the console is to be flush along my wall, now the black parts protrude out. -_- i nagged uncle and jason. but today the carpenter just finished up the works on it. it is a mistake and i dont want to live with it. compare the drawing that i got from jason this is what i got in real life i'll take a pic of the protrusion after dinner. gotta harass uncle now. the back portion that is recessed into my room. i told uncle before its up that i was thinking of doing a small storage space where the wall sticks out and he said can be done. but the carpenter went ahead to extend it all the way to the top, effectively causing me to waste the space up there! uncle's explanation was that the wood board is 8ft. i was thinking, saw it then! this is what happens when you dont nag them. dont just nag, get action from them! more on the wood issue when i get back.
  8. well, uncle explained to me that what was used for my kitchen cabinets, is also solid plywood. there's lots of types of solid plywood. the one that is layered (like 9 layer kueh) and the one used here. both are ok for use, but once compared, the "blockboard" loses out to the layered plywood. it is less resistant to water than the layered plywood but all wood are not hardy once in contact with water. all that uncle said tallies with my carpenter uncle's statement. but i didnt get to speak much cos my mom was talking to him too.
  9. i heard undermount potentially has more issues should there be leaking or anything along those lines. hence if there's a need to be replaced, its a tedious process. so which is more recommended? under or top?
  10. hi there, nice pics. and agree with what u said. there's no free lunch in the world, so check first before committing. overall if u are happy, that is what matters most.
  11. not very true. panasonic's viera is ok. there's a kuro line that has good black colours. sony bravia good but ex. are u buying tv? i did my research so i can help.
  12. thanks for tuning in!! *cues melodrama music* in short, we are changing the bottom cabinet for the my sink area. not changing the bottom cabinets where my stove is cos uncle did say its a little hard to do that. ok i accept it since the sink area is the wettest and i do not want the quality of that area to be compromised. we also discussed the drawers etc for the bottom cabinet and i told him i dont understand them sometimes in terms of design e.g: my understanding is xxx but their understanding of that same thing is yyy. he said he will meet me tmr in the afternoon and will ask jason to come up to discuss with me too. about my tv console, the area where it sticks out of the wall, i told him flat out that i cant accept that error. i asked if he can remove it by sawing it or what, he said not possible as he will have to readjust my rack for placing dvd player etc. i showed him what jason drew for me which was the tv console sitting flush with my wall and not coming out of the wall. i told him that clearly its the carpentry's problem and he should change it for uncle at no charge. but if there's a charge i'll just take it since its not a matter of life and death. i intend to ask him to use someone else if possible. this carpentry is not up to snuff. he said he will let me know again tmr = must chase uncle. that concludes it cos for half the time my mom was also hogging uncle about insignificant things, reminiscing of old times yarda yarda. quite annoyed since i did not manage to go thru with uncle all that i want. the consolation is that uncle is more free in the afternoon so i get to hog him at that time tmr. P.S: Qns on behalf of my mom. we are using LPG gas tank. initially the plan was to place the gas tank under the right side of the stove but my mom thinks that it should not be so close as she is afraid that it will blow up. -_- she wants to relocate it to under the sink, any comments on that? (frankly i dont want that. imagine the gas piping snaking thru all the carpentry? ugly as sin) pls let me have your views abt that, if placing the tank under the stove is really a hazardous move. -_-
  13. nah, not new. old flat that we are renovating. i rented the house right next to my unit. so waiting here. oh yes! surprise of the day!! i came home to blum soft closing for my wardrobe swing out door when i didnt ask for it. imagine my surprise!
  14. no la he called back to say he's on the way. he sounds quite tired. 2 more pics of my ****ty wood board!!!! fresh from next door! the is the cut out for my sink area. with his board like that, no way am i going for undermount sink. as close as i can get while keeping it sharp
  15. omg he called back!!!! /dies of heart attack
  16. asugama, familyof4, if uncle told u ah wei is doing the carpentry, by all means, u are in good hands. that is plywood to my understanding so far. mine ar? still have not found the right word to describe it. have called up my uncle who is based in msia doing carpentry and activated his help. it is clear, his company uses solid plywood. they dont use others due to the problems that arises. so there you have it. the standard there and what's applied here. i still think its the sub con carpenter. oh man.. wished i had heard of ah wei earlier. i wont mind moving in first to my room then wait for my kitchen cabinet if thats what it takes for ah wei to do mine. uncle did not pick my call. im not sure where he is now.
  17. wow ok i got an audience! ya we're gonna thrash it out! now going next door to take pics of the cabinets.
  18. hahaha thats so sweet of you guys.. princess.
  19. waiting for uncle to come. will bug him aft i had my dinner. the top cabinets are up and it seems to be more solid. dont understand why.
  20. ya which is basically no good. altho still plywood, its not solid plywood to me. we'll see how it goes tonight.
  21. well if bifold with only top track, why dont u get that since its better? instead of the top and bottom? i try out my bifold door later aft work and update u on my feedback k
  22. rar. i got another pic of the wood i took. show u now. sorry i told jason but they dont seem to understand what i want. nvm do lor. at most if cannot i will request for change firmly. got it! compare this one... with this one.. oh so its the same? dont think so. look at my edges, so many splinters. look at reiki's, nice and smooth. i will show this side by side. see how.
  23. mrspiglet, mine is not what i call super solid. its not even heavy. dare i say it feels like lifting particle boards?? i really want to get it changed now. if from they start they said its blockboard then fine. and i hope jason is not smoking me with the, they are the same thing comment. reiki yes that is what i want. the thickness looks good too! i like that! great! more picture references for me to show uncle. thank you!
