hi gaku, cant believe ah tan is giving problems. maybe its ah seng, who keeps asking me to buy my own lights. like that might as well ask me to install myself right. wth. ah tan is nice! but maybe he has problems keeping up cos i believe he has a small team. for uncle this type, he needs a bigger team that is quick and fast. meaning do once and do it well. instead of doing it so fast and doing it all wrong.

ok i took it off. contains my add hp #. scary! reiki, im trying to go for the zen look but i thought bookcase can do wooden laminate for the bottom portion while my study desk follows the same laminate as my wardrobe. how does that sound? mrspiglet, i cant call it woes, everyone faces some every now and then. so im ok still. have to be understanding towards uncle too. so im ok for now. still got energy left. lawry, thanks for pointing it out. white laminates are ok! i love it. all nice white and cheery to me. you shld pick it if u have another reno. blue, i prefer to post pics when its lived in, more homely! now it seems a little too showroom, lacking that touch of warmth. im weird.

gaku07 i didnt really inspect the back, but it is not flushed with the kitchen wall. there is a small wooden frame done to support the hood but thats about it. what recess are u refering to? roamca thanks! i still think its nt bright enough tho.

smallboy, tell me about it. pending my book case and all my books are still in boxes. i love books. lucky u've got space to play with. for me, if i dont have enough i may just get a low height bookcase from ikea or something to place in the living room to act as divider for my mom's praying area and the sofa area.

storm well during my search i only found those. i rmb which shop i got mine from! its this very old looking shop. so far his price is the best and he is nice to explain to me about the fans. i have to find the shop number but its on the same side where royal fanco and adamas is. kdk is nice but ex! so far im loving my fan, esp the color! booy yup i love them too for the simplistic classy look it gives and it will never go out of style. familyof4 is it! was quite "hurt" when uncle said my fan not very good, the airflow is not circulated throughout the room. >.> but now that we moved it and cleaned up the fan, it feels fine!! shogen i think both me and my mom said wang lai wang lai and i also said huat ah! i did not say cai yuan gwen gwen >.< heng ar! mrspiglet YEA!! pretty soon i can post before and after pics! that is the biggest change! im kinda regretting i did not snap more pics of before due to my embarrassment. updates for today.. realised that when they plastered my wall in the kitchen they did not remove nor protect the lights so my lights, esp the part where i have to "twist" to remove lamp cover is kinda stuck to the wall in a layer of plastic. yet another rectification to be done. hrmm. I also asked uncle for the laminate samples book after checking out seng lee's website. not a lot of variety posted online. still vexing over the laminate choice. :/

eh, nope, its just like that. are u refering to the backsplash? thats not completed. if u look hard enough at my kitchen pic, u might find the backsplash there. is that the same thing? about my fan i feel its decent. at the highest speed i can feel it at my sofa right now, but if u stand at the door, u cant feel the breeze. think thats like normal range. cheap too! i think i paid less than $150? i have to go dig out my receipt. i bought it at one of those shops at jalan besar. i just looked around, zeroed in on this model as well as color and got it. its from elmark, gun metal colour. although uncle did comment that KDK is better but i cant install KDK in my house due to the fact that there's this thing that sticks out from the ceiling to the fan, causing lesser headroom for the room, which is against HDB rules. -_-

some updates on pending carpentry. BRB! bookcase. top half is glass, bottom half is wooden swing out doors. any comments will help. they are due this sat. but i dont know why the rush. should i use the same old laminate from my wardrobe back on this or should i get another laminate that is more of a woody look to bring out the bookcase feel? :/ BRB! the shoe rack! i have yet to finalize on the laminates cos i am sick of black and white for colour scheme. :/ ah di is going to scold me. dining table! instead of collapsible.. it will be.. easily stored? i dont know how to put it. the laminate chosen for my dining table: Just Oak

some pix before we moved in and with things more or less completed in the kitchen! my wardrobes were also completed. Kitchen with stainless steel backing up! just lacking my counter top lights and we are set to go! (must get the wide angle lens for portfolio-ish shots!) a quick peek at the black galaxy granite top. trying to keep it reasonably dry. not easy! the wardrobe in my mom's room. sorry about the white balance issue that makes the pic look so reddish. :/ we sorta picked a more subdued colour for her wardrobe. i got some.. "criticism" from those who have viewed my place tho. even from uncle and jason.. why? see below. (ignore the gaps, this was shot before the final works were completed) as compared to my mom's, my choice of laminate seems more "flashy" and when friends come into the next room, they always comment that mine seems so exciting and hers so plain. >.< uncle and jason commented that its a good choice and my "feature" wall blended with my wardrobe's laminates. during the discussion for the laminates, i jokingly told jason to pick nicer things for my room so my room can be nicer. we rolled the pineapples and other things amongst all! very exciting! but the other focus of the pic is to see the living room leading to the kitchen. not a straight pic tho. somehow i kinda "regret" picking the smoky color for my living room. still seems a little.. dark for my liking. now that we've moved in, its a huge mess so not favourable for photo taking! still organizing and wondering how best to organize. i will try to post more pics once we're more settled. this sat we're expecting our tiles to be polished, iron gate and grilles up, more carpentry up (my bookcase, study table, dining table are confirmed. pending shoe rack once i finalize with ah di tmr) i am still outstanding in terms of picking a nice wallpaper for my tv console so thats still a work in progress. watching tv on my miserable tiny tv now but ah well, too busy with packing to enjoy watching tv. not that i watch lots of tv anyway...

i think i will go for a wood grain textured laminate for my shoe cabinet. colour wise dont seem like i have much of a choice but to go with black and white. or black and RED!! *thinks*

well no point doing all that. when doing reno, we are kinda at the mercy of the contractor/ID/sub con somehow. if u tick them off, they might sabotage u in small ways. not very worth it. plus uncle is getting someone else to rectify so its alright.

if no hacking ask them why haulage? unless u are throwing away big pieces of furniture, if not why is there haulage? -_- trying to BS u.

smallboy, sorry to say but this is seriously liquid paper! the one i used to correct my sch work! so u know it can get uneven when not applied correctly? shld have snapped a pic of it. that is what i thought too! paint pens! those that i see in art friend style! grove lines? i see if i can snap a pic tonight. then u guys can decide if im siao or not. i understand the solid core thingy.. but the one im talking about is on the flat surface on my laminate! nearest to the part where the ABS trimming is. wait for the pic, a pic says a lot.

elder goh is ok, he just looks fierce. quite a nice person and can be chatty. but less chatty. i think in order of chattiness: jason -> uncle -> elder goh. he is the most responsive to me out of the 3.

u know ah, this talk about laminates, i feel that the condition of my kitchen laminates is so bad! ok pls clarify ABS trimmings for me first. it is basically what is running around the edges of the wood right? laminate is on the external most visible part right? when i look at it up close, the laminates seems to be chipped? how to say, just not pure white for those in my kitchen. my friend called me siao cos no one will look until like that.. so am i siao or its unacceptable? the ah mei guy makes me wanna puke blood. if not based on uncle's face i would have chided him for his work. can u believe that his workers uses liquid paper to cover up the join lines??? wtf right!!! not even white marker ok. i saw them doing it for my wardrobes, almost fainted. i paid so much for carpentry and here u are patching it with liquid paper which I CAN DO AND DO IT MUCH BETTER. -_- where do u guys get the laminate samples from? i havent chosen mine yet!

ya i hope uncle is fine and not too busy (ya right). i've been assigned a new carpenter for the remaining works and he is called ah di. (anyone else used him??) im still choosing laminates for my shoe rack so any recommendations instead of the usual white and black? my tv console is white and black, it looks a little boring if i go for white and black again.
