  1. I support Ikea too BUT try finding that **** signage that says 3 days delivery or storage charges applies besides who ever read signboards ? According to the poor lady who got the "hair dryer treatment" from me, it is not their company that implemented these charges but when they renewed their contract, Ikea do away with all the freebies, so no more minimum charge for free deliveries and storage charges applies. I don't know about you guys but I kindaof feel cheated mates. The change was implemented in October last year and I have been buying from Ikea for like nearly as long as they were in Singapore.
  2. FYI, went Ikea yesterday and realise that after splurging $1,800 on furniture and furnishing, was told that deliveries must be completed with 3 working days else charges for storage (by trolley count applies) at S$5 per trolley. WTF, really gave them a piece of my mind and also realise there were many who face the same situation and were caught offguard. Ikea, you suck man.
  3. By the way, I notice Jaskel and Born_again is staying in Hougang, GREAT ! so is my new place ..... at Avenue 6, about five mins or so to the mrt.
  4. Sorry mates, been busy the past few days. FYI, the reason for the fire rated door is most unfortunate, my purchased unit is within a certain distance requirement from the soon to be built lift landing. According to the requirements by HDB, it has to be a fire rated door. Not much of a choice actually. Oh well ..... managed to get my ID to contact his door supplier about this issue and that has been resolved, otherwise I will be stuck with a flushed door and with only 4 units on the same floor, my unit is going to stand out like a sore thumb, so prefer to get a fire rated door that looks like a normal door with some standard design trimmings at least. Anybody staying in the new Ponggol or Sengkang flats? Was told it will be something like that ...... if you have a pic of your door, please share, so that I can have an idea how it would look like lah. Thanks everyone. Cheerios
  5. Thanks mate. Your house looks great and you spend so much lesser than I did ..... getting an original conditioned house and renovating it sets me back 32K mate. Argh.
  6. About to start renovating my house and as the flat that I bought is in original condition, will have to change everything including the front door. However, today was told that fire rated doors only one type, flush, no design, like the type you see in office buildings, wasn't too convinced so made a search on the net and found this to be false. Not sure if you could share with me the design of your fire rated door to prove my point. Also, an officer at town council told me that approved fire rated door need to withstand at least 2 hours, not too sure if this is true as well. Need your help, mates. Cheerios
  7. Tuans and Puans, Anybody care to share their contractors contact? Have 30K budget and been going ard but nobody seems to want to work within my budget (keep getting ard 45K ..... so far only Uncle Yeak manage to give me an ok quote but still no exactly what I want) and that is very frustrating. Its a 4-S in original condition. Help ! F
  8. Not really new to Renotalk, was around the last time when I got the keys to my 2nd flat in Bukit Batok (under username: damianchew - the one who recommended Mrs Mckennic for cleaning tile/grout - my only post ha ha ha) and now into my 3rd flat at Hougang. The one **** thing I have come to know after going through 2 renovations is that one should never ever use renovation contacts from friends, why? Because you will find that the standards are often different and the prices are always higher ..... so this time round I have decided that I would choose one from the pool of highly recommended IDs from Renotalk. While searching, I have come across a few and if anyone have any really bad experience with them, please drop me your comments before I make a 3rd mistake (God forbid!). If any kind souls could give me their ID contacts that would be great, cause some of the names mentioned are a few/many months old and in the ID trade, they have a habit of moving around. Alumix/Ximula My own contractor Trade Build Renovation And Construction Works Mr Chng Mook Cheong 27, Mandai Estate, #06-05, Innovation Place Tower 2, Singapore 729931 67643075/97113986 68927756 A short story about Mook Cheong, not sure anyone use him before, overall very good but depending on your budget, the materials used can range from low end (if low budget) to high end (if higher budget), if I ever use him, will have to remind him not to cut corners ..... the 1st house I had, got him to do my house, it was a simple renovation and was less than 12K (actual figure even lower but let's not spoil the market) but after a while cracks started to form, same with my friend who recommended him and his was a open kitchen, so even more obvious. But his wet works and tiling is really good but again need to keep reminding him NOT to use low grade materials. Otherwise, he is quite value for money. The 2nd house I ask him to quote but was kindaof expensive as compared to ID Emboss (surprised? no lah, used their subsidiary company for contracting work only, no interior design but got lots of horrific stories to share, terrible sub-contractors .... by the way, whatever happened to Ron Leow?) Anyway, going to share with guys my journey till the house is completed, so until the next time ..... cheerios. By the way, anyone stay in Blk 532 Hougang? Cheerios The Fatman
  9. Eh, does anybody know of anyone staying in Bukit Batok Central or near Bukit Batok Central (walking distance) intending to sell his or her flat? No agents please.
