Recommendations For False Ceiling & Cornice Contractor
Leew replied to mariner's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
Hi hi, I've pm-ed you contact. I need to clarify here, I do not know this person personally. I got the contact of contractor (Ah Soon) from forum members here (thanks to native02 & pinkpetter) and wanted him to do L-box for me. Instead the contractor send Ah Hock who is doing plaster ceiling to my place and provide me with quote. So there's no contractor doing the job. If you are looking for contractor, he's not the one for you. -
I think the ID is trying to 'chop' me! In the end my sister got me a contact direct from factory which cost me a lot lower, she did all the negotiation for me and finally I settled with that. Just had that installed yesterday and I love it. Can't comment on the maintenance part yet, cos have not moved in to my new place

I've another question puzzle me.... Yesterday L-box is up for master bedroom and before it's done, I've double and triple confirmed with the person that the air cond can be open and hold it 45 deg angle while servicing.... so he left a bigger gap before aircond and L-box for me for that purpose (can't recall how many inches, think is 6" or 8" gap) but when the air cond cover is opened it can't hold it's position at 45 deg (will drop down without having something to hold it). My question is, is this a norm (that's what he told me)? Does it means that everytime the air cond service man come must use a stick or anything to hold the cover? Thanks very much for your inputs.

To begin, I'm co-ordinating all the work myself and not getting any ID/contractor to do it, need your advise on payment to painter.... He's asking me for deposit of $200 before work commence. May I know do I pay the balance after he has done all the touch up work (ie after all the cabinets are installed) or pay the balance when he has completed painting the house but before coming back for touch up? What is the market practice? Thanks very much.

I've engaged one that quoted me $9 pfr (I think) for L-box for living/dining area and all the rooms. Not sure how is the workmanship as the installation is only on Monday. If you need the contact, you may pm me. -
Was told that granite from India is more expensive than those from China. Was quoted $125 pfr for granite with gold spots (he said this is cost more than plain black granite)... Another ID firm quote me $180 for granite without gold spots and with gold spots will be $220 (faint!)

The more I look at the picture the more I like this, best is the price is affordable. We are thinking of getting darker colour (tho' cream colour is nice but worry that it's hard to maintain). Other than Compass point, where else in central has Seahorse showroom that display this design? Thank you.

Hi, am a newbie here and glad that I found this forum. A lot of valuable tips I get here. I just got my very first house keys and would like to do something on the bay windows. The choices given to me are as follows: 1. Solid plywood with laminate finish top 2. Solid wood 3. Galaxy granite top 4. Granite top with single bluenose & backsplash (don't know what is this) Between item 3 and 4 above, which is better? Price wise I was told that solid plywood top is cheaper than granite by nearly half. From your experience/view, which is the better option (pro and cons). I am totally lost and clueless as this is my very first house. Thank you very much. Btw, what is the market price for granite (galaxy or bluenose)?
