aiyo, your agent seems really unprofessional. Do you think you might want to sell by yourself if your are not too busy at work? Can advertise "owner selling", and you dun have to pay commission. On HDB website, there are guidelines on how to do transactions without agents. you will have to deal with alot of phone calls esp during wkend, and alot of "window"-shoppers". Give it a try, after the EA expires. GOOD LUCK!!!

Prolonged Dusty Floor After Renovation

poor thing... do you think its worth getting those robot vacuum cleaners? I saw at PC fair last year some older models were selling less than $500. Almost got one until my hubby stopped me. -
oh wow!!!! my first photo post!!! Wheeeeee!!!!! oops, sorry... my hubby and me also thot about whether we should just settle for an aircon for the living room, but cost of usage is so much higher, thus making the liklihood of switching on the a/c less.... and would have bought a standing fan to use most times.... same price as system1 a/c unit, but different impact on electricity bill wor! so we dun have a/c in our living room lor, coz would have needed two of them to cool down the area. I know its quite a crazy amount to spend on a fan, so I cut down on my shopping for a few months after buying the fans...heeee

Parents & Parents To Be
mister_molly replied to familyof4's topic in Pregnancy,Parenthood and Education Matters
wah, i cannot agree with that leh. What if the mood doesn't happen at the "right" time. Which is the time when a woman is fertile. And most women at their most fertile for only 2days between their cycles. And some couples are not together 24/7, so they have to plan also lor. If a couple, especially a woman, wants a BB, at the back of her mind will always be "what if?", "is this it?" etc etc.... I was like that lah. But must have a sense of humour when trying also.... stress IS a big killer...hehehe Angel, have you tried raising your legs and hips in the air/wall for about 20min after? My sister and i both have tilted wombs, and that could be one of the causes of delayed conception. You still have time for a moo BB....Kick those legs up and shake those hips!!!!!! Good Luck! -

have the both of you been tracking the ovulation dates? That is very important. My hubby and me tried for two months in the wrong ovulation calculation, until i went to websites which calculate the dates for me! Also can buy clearblue ovulation testkits. If either of you going to Changi airport T3 soon, buy from the watsons there, no GST and got $5 coupon off purchases also. another thing is to prop your wife legs up against the walls after doing-the-do for 20mins, such that the hips are raised with 2 or 3 pillows. If timing is followed, not too much stress involved, then conception should occur. If you go to fertility websites, most of them concur that the delay in conception is often due to inaccurate times of trying, coz most women are effectively fertile for 1-2 days per cycle! From your previous posts, you are both below 30 right? So, maybe can visit a gynae after 6 months of actively trying? -
It really depends leh!!! Hehe! When I first saw the fan, I wanted to buy it immediately coz of the wacky design. So, no regrets coz it blends in with our decor. You must want it beyond reason and not for practicality.... Must consider your lighting options hor, coz this light cannot put lights on it. There are other really nice fans i saw in website www.g2art.com but i don't see them in Singapore lah. Go and take a look at the fan at elmark showroom...see if you love it of not I post a pic of mine later...

I can conclude why some paint companies you see from classifieds and from the company my hubby hired, can charge so cheap, is coz the painters are either working illegally and thus settle for $50-per-day payment, or they stinge on paint by using the original paint containers but imposter paints. You think they mark up the paint as their commission for buying the paint? Is it too troublesome to buy the paints yourselves? Maybe can casually remark to your ID that you notice this or that place selling any particular paint for $15 cheaper?

their only form of protection was a piece of old curtain and the existing cardboard protection laid on most floors by our contractor and myself. But they simply ripped it off when they wanted to paint the edges, thus the million white paint splatters.

Glossy Floor Tile Problem
mister_molly replied to DoubleJ's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
aiyo!!! Paint company provided by your ID or did you source for them yourself? Did they protect your floor?! If they are form your ID, but hold him responsible. My hubby got this guy to paint, they used one old curtain to "protect" the floors, but no use coz got splatters EVERYWHERE!! And I think they are illegal workers somemore. Coz we didn't do skirting for our floors, they simply lifted up the cardboard protection(our contractor laid cardboard protection hall and study), and added special effects all over the edges of the floors! Deduct a portion of money from the painting package, like $150-200 for cleaning up. My hubby deducted $100 off the final payment to the paint boss, but kuaikuai accept, but as i was cleaning, realized my effort was worth at least double! i should have engaged real professionals like ICI or Nippon sia. for removal of paint on windows, use spirit. Same for laminate floors and edging, unless you dun mind using your nails, like what i ended up doing. is your paint type those wash&wear type? I'm not sure about paint seeping into tiles, especially the glossy kind of tiles. Sigh....good luck..... -
Glossy Floor Tile Problem
mister_molly replied to DoubleJ's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
have you checked with the ppl you got the tiles from? They should be the best ppl to advise you, not your ID. What kind of chemical did the painter wash your tile with? Paint thinner is corrosive but not that harmful to tiles, but paint remover I heard is quite harmful, but I'm not sure coz thats what a paint guy told me. My contractor said to try wiping with alkaline, coz i got alot of paint splatters on my matt black tiles also. But I havn't tried the alkaline thingy tho. Avoid contact with skin coz it causes itchiness..!! I understand your frustration lah....I was so mad when I saw the state of my tiles left by rogue painters! Remember hor...check with the tile ppl!!!! Or drop by a friendly tile shop and ask someone. -
Prolonged Dusty Floor After Renovation
mister_molly replied to Honeygal's topic in Home Maintenance & Repairs
i think most ppl will have this problem. Maybe there are dust particles on the walls and ceiling, window ledge etc....which settle on the floor when the wind blows, or over time. Alot of dust is generated from the hacking of tiles and cabinetry, and it doesn't just settle on the floor. My brand new wardrobe is also the same. Wipe the drawers now, 1hr later, dust from the wood settle on the drawers again! If you got the time and dedication, maybe can try mopping alternate days. And dun forget the walls also.. My brother-in-law had to wash his place for a month before the reno dust went away. -
ashes02!!! Paiseh!!! I couldn't retrace this thread for ages..... i don't know how to post pics on htis forum also....aiyo.... http://img19.picoodle.com/img/img19/2/4/20...35m_6b2162d.jpg http://img06.picoodle.com/img/img06/2/4/20...34m_aeea49d.jpg http://img19.picoodle.com/img/img19/2/4/20...36m_867261c.jpg hope it works... dunno if you've gotten your tub already...sorry leh. oh, bought it for $690. oh, haven't moved in yet, thus the wrapped up toilet stuff...hehe

my hubby and me bought 2 for our living room. At max speed, it gives enough breeze, but not tornedo-like wind. Its also almost silent. Bought both for $1600, and $50 for installation charges. When I rang the retailer, they qouted $1399 each. But I think the price could have gone down liao. Bought them last year december I think, at Elmark, Ubi 55.
-
seem reasonable coz that around the price for Nippon's professional painters. ICI dulux professional painter package around $1200, depending on the paint. But I writing just to advice to go for professionals lor coz my hubby got a cheapie guy to do it and we regret like crazy!!!! White paint splatters were found all around our black floors!!!! And even on the white floors!!!! Just make sure your ID is held responsible for everything lah.

Any Recommendation For Storage Heater?
mister_molly replied to tower's topic in Electronics & Electricals
my family had ariston heater before, and it gave alot of problems, like major leakage. My hubby and me bought a joven energy-saving one, but have yet to move in and test it out, so I can't say any good things about it yet. my plumber and contrator did say ariston have alot of problems. but i think at the end of the day, it could also be like aircon, where the quality of installation plays a part as well. I think rainshowers won't do well with instant heaters, think I read it in one of the renotalk threads.... -

hi chquek! i should think its quite difficult to DIy unless you have the knowledge, skills and materials leh. I did a Lbox for cove lighting and a box-up for pipes, and from outside it looks lilke just cover-up, but got metal brackets, need laser beam to ensure levelness etc... if you want I can PM you my Lbox contractor. His qoute was $320 for 3m and 4m Lbox for cove light, plus 4m box-up of pipes. Throughout our whole reno which we did ourselves, we found him the most reliable and worry-free person to work with! Oh he also plastered our whole house.

hi all!!! I recommend anybody who wants to buy stuff from Furniture Club to really consider going to their outlet at Sungei Kadut instead of the one in IMM or Beach Road. I saw my L-shape sofa in IMM, fell in love with it and was qouted $3600. Went to Beach Road and was qouted $2780. Then months later saw an armchair at Beach Road and was qouted $800+, discounted from its $1000+ price tag. But the friendly ah-peh said, if we are really keen but want to bargain further, then can try SK. So down we went....and got the chair for $450...hehehehe They said overheads at SK not so high, so can bargain further....hmmm

hmmmm, at least they are not tape-worms hor, coz I watched from Oprah that tapeworms can grow longer than the human they are living in...and they are beige, with a yucky mouth at one end. I think drainage hole got air flow valve or pipe right? They need moist environment to survive....I seriously think one of your neighbours has a human waste compost machine; has lots and lots of plants with soil stolen from public grounds; is running a mud-spa or maybe is rearing earthworms for their pet tarantula/bird/chicken.... Have you rang the HDB? Best to highlight this to them and ask them who to call if they can't do anything about it. Good Luck!!!!!!
-
hehehehehehe!!!! This is the funniest thread i've ever seen!!! sorry...don't mean to poke fun lah. I have found centipedes in my toilet bowl before, after a heavy downpour, but that was two or three times only. Does your upstairs neighbour keep alot of plants, is a serious hoarder or a soil-stealer?

hi! I bought two ceiling fans without lights, and after much headache, decided to do cove lighting. The fans are to be installed today, so I'm waiting for the results!!!! My hubby and me had spent a long time thinking of what kinds of lights to use, whether we can still install ceiling lights near the fans, standing lamps etc, but in the end, we got someone to do the Lbox, put in 7 T5 28W tubes and we are so pleased with the effects! But got downside lah, like having to vacuum the Lbox etc...But its much brighter than we expected, and we do not need any extra lighting for reading. I will email you the pictures of my fans and covelighting once its all done up. As for bedroom lights, sorry, we don't have any ceiling lights installed there, only floor and table lamps. You should go down to Lightcraft at Jln Sultan. They are having 70% sale for some quirky lights, 15% discount for other lights. If you like browsing undisturbed, this is the place to go coz you can be left alone to flicker all the lights. we bought all our 11 lights there for $1100.

Cement Wall / Floor Finishes
mister_molly replied to raquel's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
if you are very sure about wanting cement screed, most importantly you must find the right person to do it for you. The contractor must have done it successfully before, as it takes skill, experience and knowledge to screed nicely. My hubby and me wanted to screed our whole house but in the end we just settled with screeding our pillar and beam coz its not easy to maintain the floors...hehehe -
If you ask your gynae, the answer would be no... But I think spicy food not good for morning sickness, makes it worse by churning the stomach...and imagine if throw up...wah...spicy puke!!!! Lots of preggies have heightened sense of taste, and may be partial to certain foods...but having to avoid salty foods, I never read before... Cold water...old wive's tale lah... ppl say make womb weak, make bb cold etc hor? My sis could only drink cold cold drinks during her preggieness, and now she got a gorgeous 1 1/2 mth old daughter!

ooh, jaskel's experience doesn't sound good.... I had Pergo's Pyparus Range laid on my new plc's bedroom floors, but I have yet to move in tho. Service wise is quite good from this guy called Majid. Follow-ups, changing of skirting etc, all dealt with patience.... but that was when we had not paid the full amount yet lah.... So I dunno how further service will be coz full amount has been paid liao... Got Pergo coz we thot they were the most reknown for quality...
