Ya, you better ask them to wrap up the lights and fan. Or else there will be lots to clean. Nope, the hood and hob are also from Franke. Yes, the sink is double bowl. I think you can go visit Asia Excel @ Balestier to see if there are any other deals. I also think it is easier if you buy your own .. uncle is so busy and may forget

Ya, I agree. He also needs to earn for working so hard, so better not squeeze too much

Congrats to the start of your reno, really amazing to see another one progressing so fast. I do not have any experience with rinnai stuff .. but heard that they are very established in the market. I read from someone's post that the package may not be cheaper, it may be worthwhile to check the price separately. We bought a package from Asia Excel, which includes Franke sink, mixer, hob and chimney hood for 1099. But it is still not installed yet, so cannot feedback

We also one shot made 40% payment after the hacking and when the tiles are delivered. And that was the same day we sign the 'contract'. I didn't get to keep the chinese quote, only the english one, i think it is ok as long as there is a quote that we can understand Wah, ah soon going to do blum corner unit for you? so nice

We want to come and see your tv feature wall, but may not be free on Sat

Huh? How come still cannot hand over? Still rectifying the carpentry? How come so much cement and sillicone? Is it due to the tiles rectification? Must tell ah soon and ask them to clean up swee swee for you, ok? My place was quite clean on sunday after they clean-up, but alas, it was only for 1 night and then it become so messy again. Noted on the soft closing part, will check again when all the carpentry is installed. I think one of the shelf laminate colour for my tv console is done wrongly, but hor my drawing is with them. So I really hope my memory is correct and they can change for me

Good to know that they are pro, becos I wasn't able to go back and observe them when they were laying the tiles for us. So far, we only check some wall tiles in the toilet and mark some for replacement. Thanks for the tip on hollow tiles, will ask my hubby to check becos i scared later i "shi shou" and hit the tile too hard .. wahaha

Had to work late these 2 days and only manage to drop by for a quick check half an hour ago.. Lights, fan and laminate flooring are up! The carpentry are still work-in-progress .. but not sure why the soft closing is not done for the hinges for the doors?? The aircon guys also came in to put up in the fan coil today .. but becos they work past 6pm, we kena complain by downstairs neighbour Some questions to those who did laminate flooring, is it normal to feel a bit of unevenness / hollowness when we step on it?
-
Ivy, can share how you check for hollow tiles? No chance to do so yet it becos it was only clean on sunday and then after the carpentry comes in on monday, it is like a warzone again!!!

Mrspiglet, Thanks for the tip on the window film. Now that all the old window films has been torn out, the windows look clean for once. Will check Robin if there is any films from US that does not shrink. Regarding the paint, I think they use Jotun as the sealer, then follow-by the ICI/Nippon paint.

Congrats on your new blog .. fyi, we also started hacking without signing anything

Congrats! Your blum drawers are all up .. niceee Regarding the oven, after checking out more brands and models, I am getting confused too. You can check with those electrical shops like goh sin huat, ban kim chuan, parissilk etc to see if they can offer you a better price.

The painters finished painting the first coat of paint on Saturday and the flat is clean-up on Sunday! We are very happy with the progress made .. at least it looks more like a house, rather than a war zone The plan for today is to do the lights and gas pipe installation. Then, laminate flooring and carpentry from Tuesday onwards. Now very kan cheong .. wondering if the carpentry will turn out nice or not

I think he mentioned that he got more samples in his van, which he did not bring up the other day. He is also quite friendly, got give us some advice on the wall paper. What are you going to do at your dining area? I thought it's all done up? Your poor rabbit .. recently weather super hot leh, can shift your pet to somewhere else for now?

But yours is so far ahead of mine and it should be really coming to an end .. so cheer up Next week I think I have to take leave to stay home to monitor the carpentry .. hopefully I don't have to complain too much ..wahahaha

Pinkpetter, Yup, we met Robin this afternoon. You also want to put wall paper in your room? Do you need his number? I can pm you
-
Actually we were given 3 booklets today, they look quite nice. We need to meet him again next Tue/Wed to see his quote for window film, roller blinds and curtains in the MBR. My hubby now is considering to put wallpaper in MBR, but i keep reminding him no more budget Actually it is not the window film, but the removing of the existing window film and glue on the windows. I think you said that there were some oily residue or something similar in your thread previously right? By the way, how many rounds of paint did they do? I heard from the painter today that they will do a base coat of sealant (Jotun), then 1 coat of the ICI / Nippon Paint. Then, after carpentry is up, then 1 more final coat of ICI / Nippon paint.

Ivy, it is good that you are working nearby and can check during the day. At least can spot the mistakes early and rectify .. but actually tiling part not much to see, as long as they use the right tile at the correct wall. Only after they finish, then you can check if the tiles are lined up properly and grouting done correctly. IMHO it is more important to speak to the electrician and carpentry and make sure they get your requirements correct. Also, don't let them do your false ceiling, l-box and cornice too early!!!
-
I think you better call jason and chase him about the rectifications. When are you moving in? I hope you can complete everything before you move in. Is the MBR wall feature the one that you did not get to choose your laminates?

Updates update updates!!! Finally the painters arrive yesterday and they started painting the ceiling. Yay!!! There are so many holes around the walls due to the piping and re-routing of switches and aircon trunking and they are patching it before they can start painting. Will be meeting Robin later to get a quote on window films and choose the wall paper. I just called Jason and ask him about the gas pipe. He said I am supposed to arrange for city gas to come and install. I was like .. huh, how come you or ah soon never tell me before? So I just called city gas and Thank God they can come on next Monday. But this means the kitchen cabinets can only be up Tuesday at the earliest. My main concern is that there is a lack of co-ordination or project management here. Some examples are: The L-Boxes and cornices went up before the wiring and scv boxes are completely up, so now one of my rooms do not have a scv point. They forgot about the kitchen sliding door and build a skirting where it is supposed to be, were built, now need to hack. The fridge base was built so close to the wall and there is no allowance for the sliding door to close, need to rectify. The switches cannot be located next to the fridge due to lack of space, so now to reroute. The windows film has not yet been removed and cleaned yet, not sure if it will affect the paint job Sorry if these came out like a vent, but i do hope this will help the rest of people who are on the 'journey'.
