  3. All sales people have their own agenda. Always go mentally prepared and read between the lines. Alot of them spew information with lots of irrelevant cosmetic aspects. To the less technically inclined, it would seem a great buy. For stuff like hobs and hoods, who can test it before buying if you don't personally know anybody using it? In the end, it all boils down to what each perceives to be important to the purchase. Do not just read reviews from one location but various. In the end, sales people should only be the party you use to make the purchase, not to glean critical information from.

  5. Nice corridor and cosy flat you have! Wana ask how do you prevent the bomb shelter door handle from hitting the wall and leaving a mark? I'm also looking to remove the ugly rubber stopper fixed onto my wall but thinking of a neat way of prevent wall marks.
  6. I think Caesarstone is a very good investment for your kitchen unless you intend to rarely use your kitchen. Its looks and quality are a class apart from other quartz tops. Can't compare to marble/granite as it would be biased. For a typical HDB kitchen, Caesarstone shouldn't cost that much more compared to other quartz. Probably about double the price of a solid top but with much better qualities. The difference in price vs the benefits will be well worth it over the course of years that it would be used.

If you really want to know the feasibility of the rain shower, just install a pressure gauge at the water pipe outlet and maybe another 0.5m pipe/hose on the downstream of the gauge for better accuracy. Let the water flow and allow the pressure stabilise (approx 1min at most). That pressure would decide whether you should install your rainshower.
  9. You could try making an appointment at the Grohe Live Centre at Haw Par Centre. Only available during office hours on weekdays hence I never paid them a visit. Used intuition and experience to make my purchase. Agree that the Grohe and Spa MS outlet salesperson is not knowledgeable or helpful. Essentially reciting what can already be found on the website or catalogue but unable to explain to a deeper level and displaying frustration when unable to cope with deeper questions. Same malady afflicts most sales people locally but I expect upscale brands like Grohe sales to be more competent given the premium that they are demanding. Very frustrating but learnt not to question their ineptness anymore.
  10. Do reconsider the choice of lift up storage type because the mattress itself is typically about 50kg. Just the thought of lifting the mattress will put you off accessing the storage area.

  12. Perhaps you can purchase from Amazon and use vpost to ship. If the shipping cost isn't too hefty, it could be worth going via this route.
  13. If u look at historical hdb enblocs, they have regularly involved 3/4 rooms rather than 1/2 rooms. The most recent was at Bukit Merah View for 3/4rooms. More than 25yrs old doesn't necessarily increase chance of enbloc. So many flats older than 25yrs in Singapore but how many flats fall under enbloc annually?
  14. It's all about advertising and glossing up the product. It's also about demand for housing in that area where supply is limited and resale pricing out of reach for most ordinary families. With limited options but strong desire to stay in that area (plus overhyped marketing of course), all led to the exaggerated pricing and response. And hefty loans in the decades to come, all in the name of a HDB flat....

  16. yours seems like a case of mistaken unit identity. it's a totally different story from TS. and the paintover of the scribblings was done by town council after u made the police report.
  17. The only thing u can do now is to lodge a police report against the seller to change his address. Even then, there's no sureway of ensuring that's done. Beats me how the police function in this sense. Anyway, there are new laws being bounced about in Parliament so hopefully that's passed asap. As for loansharks, there's really no effective way to stop them coming back. Police usually only catch the runners which frankly is hardly the root cause. Even if you place police, hdb and whatever notices outside your door, most loansharks hardly give a hoot about it. Town council nutters can even remove these notices when it's really none of their biz. So yes, this is the painful truth of loanshark harassment in Singapore. You will need to thank your lucky stars if you find a loanshark who accepts the argument that it was the previous seller who borrowed money. They are few and far between. The new laws should be passed soon so cheer up
  18. that's not very true. many flats well into their 30s are still not enbloc yet. gov wouldn't just enbloc due to age alone.
  19. Actually, u can request only sms/voice msg in your ad. There will always be people who choose to call. Well, drop them if you want to because it could be an indication of their ability to follow simple instructions. P@D will have loads of potential tenants. It allows you the flexibility to pick and choose. TS will be surprised at what can be gotten without going through an agent. To me, that's a huge advantage
  20. Imo, there is no need for rental agents. You can easily source for tenants on the web. Plentiful. You can take your pick among the cherries rather than letting cherries, berries, longans and lychees come and go just because someone else says so. Save both sides the commission. Less sourness if u get a rogue agent. Minimal paperwork involved. Why go through the hassle of getting a third party to invite more uncertainty?
  21. Besides claiming unpaid rent, make sure the termination date is in black and white else it's as good as not stated. He's really taking full advantage of your kindness. Be tough to him at least these few mths!!!
  22. Piggybear, Seeing your place is like an almost exact replica of my resale unit without the utility room. Even the walls and tile color are almost similar. Actually, plastered walls and a fresh coat of paint with appropriate colors will amazingly transform it from a dowdy to refreshing abode! The spalling concrete is a bigger problem. Typical of flats that age.
  23. Why no equality? Because singles are not contributing to nation building, procreation-wise. Some married couples may choose to be childless but u never know. At a time when S'pore is suffering from lower than low birth rates, denying a potential family a larger unit due to singles occupancy is far from ideal...money ain't everything. That's what previous replies were probably trying to imply, if u didn't already geddit. No point debating further cos u and I can't control HDB policies so why not work harder and get a private unit....
