Haha, you still remember that. I asked May, (S&C's lady boss?) and she said no difference in pricing if we make a group buy. For the side tables, will wait till much later than finalise and also looking around for other possible options. I think we'll be going there this weekend to look for study tables/chairs and also one night table for the bedroom.

Haha, I told him I don't mind if they need to bring back as long he's not charging and can reinstall by next week:) I really don't think its so difficult to change since Home Fix sells similar latches for DIY replacement. Let you know by Friday or the weekend. Drop me a PM if I forget.

Floating around, reading the various threads:) Nothing much to update once the tiling was completed. I thought of just getting a washer too, but top up a little can get the 2in1, can use the dryer during the rainy season if need something urgently. If you like Wihardja's furniture, can try Colonial Antique, not sure still around, bought a teak wood dining table from them 4 years back. Well recommended by others way back then. http://www.thegreenbook.com/TgbNewSite/Com...p;hgd=&hid= Also found this list: http://www.singaporebrides.com/forumboard/...tml#POST3794096

Hopeless, was it you who also have the same problem with Wellmax? The stainless steel latch? Lost track liao... Anyway, they'll be installing the bifold doors on Friday and I've asked them to change the latch, same story, was told that they have to take the windows back. But when I said fine, he told me that they'll see if can change the latch on the spot rather than bring the windows back  Will keep you updated after they've done the changes.

Hi Sue, Welcome to Sembawang:) Which block are you in if you don't mind telling. FYI, there's a beach nearby, the flatted factories across the river are open on the weekends and lots of food brands can be found there, Fragrance, Bengawan Solo, etc. Sembawang Shopping Centre nearby has a free shuttle bus and further up, Chong Pang got lots of good food there. A cult favorite, Taste of Thailand can be found in Chong Pang, cheap and good Thai food but long queue sometimes... (Haven't had dinner yet, food is on my mind...) This is my second home, first one also in Sembawang, Wellington Circle area. Anyway, welcome to RT too, I've found lots of resources here, lobang for curtains, solar films, furniture, many many more. Just to to read a little and take your time. Since 1st appt still far away, use this time to gather information. Even if you decide to go with an ID, good to know abit so the person won't be able to smoke you. Why are we running all over Singapore??? For my case, save $$$. I choose a contractor rather than an 'branded' ID. IDs will probably be able to propose a design, color scheme, provide nice drawings and also bring you around to suggest lights and other applicances but you'll be paying for this service. Also a lighting shop I went, told me the listed price is for people brought by their IDs and the prices they gave us is the direct price... big difference.. By using a contractor (this is my 2nd one,1st home also used a contractor), prices are much lower. I asked 2 IDs and 2 contractors to provide a quote based on the same items, contractors' quote were easily 2/3 or lower than the ID. But you'll have to be more involved and we provided our designs (taken from magazines), did our own color matching and also sourced for items like lights, curtains, taps and such on our own. Perversely... its quite fun but can be tiring and almost every weekend we are roaming the streets of Singapore to look for suitable stuff, even things like toilet bowl, towel bar, soap holder designs, etc.... Hope this helps, drop us any questions and we'll try to help. Small friendly community here :D If you decide the contractor route, Yeak is quite good and you can read the t-blogs by his customers. I'm always using PreciousJam's or Angel81's signatures to search for the rest of his customers. There are others too or you can get recommendation from your friend/family, compare quotations, talk to the ID/contractors and I'll suggest that you choose the one you feel comfortable with, price is just one factor of the renovation. Cheers. Now to find food....

Hehe, showed my wife your post, trying to convince her that lower better :D For me, if its lower, visually won't be able to see the stuff we'll put on the console so clearly when we are seated. But because we don't have a wall feature, we'll see more of the cables if the console is too low and we mount the TV on the wall.... Thanks, will mull over this the next few days and let Yeak know the final height, they'll install the carpentry on Thursday.
-
Thanks newnyew, Replied to you in my thread:) When I contacted Yeak, he also said he's using the same installer. I forgot that your $1.30psf didn't include labour costs
-
Hey Bon07, Thanks. Wife initially wanted the top to be 24" (approx 60cm) and I managed to bargain down to 22" (approx 55cm), although I wanted 20". Will use your post to tell my wife that I'm normal :D She thinks its already too low liao. Saw your sig that you are are looking for coffee table and chairs. Have you tried to check out S&C Furniture? Only thing is you'll have use catalogs to choose your furniture but when I was there, May (lady boss), was very helpful to recommend and give suggestions on which design/item is better. Price wise is a huge difference from the 'branded' stores, yet you can find similar looking stuff in the catalogs.

Haha, that day got excited mah... when I saw the skirting price, forgot it didn't include labour, happy happy told Yeak about it and I got dragged down to earth when he reminded me still got to include labour charge... This few days don't have much progress, nothing to post, only floor laminate and painting completed. Now waiting for Wednesday for the carpentry to be installed, followed by solid surface and then I think re-painting. Hope everything can be settle soon, movers are coming on 1st Aug.

New, love u!!!! (uh, friendly love, not love love :D ) Saw your post about buying direct from Hauhau, am going to do timber skirting too and didn't know i can buy direct. Are the prices you listed also for the skirting and will they be able to do the measurement or do I contact this Mr Gan??? Or can I buy the loose pieces and let Yeak install? Like what you did with the Blum stuff.
-
Saw your boxes of Blum drawers yesterday at Yeak's shop, wife gain... lucky too late for us;) Don't worry abt the plaster and dirt on your tiles, ours also looked very dirty but after the acid wash, bright bright again.

Didn't speak to him about changing the latch yet, said I'll consider after hearing his story early last week. We are waiting for Yeak to help us fix the flooring before contacting Mark again to install the bi-fold doors and possibly the latch. Today pop by a Home-fix, saw them selling the latch just by itself, which means, Wellmax should be able to just powder coat another latch and replace for us....
-
Haha, must be cos of PJ lah, she did her own painting, broke Yeak's heart
-
Good, good, like that i'm estimating another 2 weeks maybe, really about 6 weeks in all.
-
Haha, the round balcony gave the most problems.... got to custom make curtain racks (cost more $), window panels also cannot make too big (so more panels, maybe more $), can't put much things there cos of the shape, bedroom also have a similar spot, had to custom make a table, else going to just waste the space there.... Still got wooden skirting to do, not sure how much problems it'll give to them. HDB designers, not very bright....

Didn't know the latches should be white, lucky I read yr thread then found out. Also call him the same day as Poh did and I'll call him to change the latch when they come and install the gates and bifold doors :)
-
Don’t have the contact with me but I got my storeroom rack from a company called Naiya about 5 years back. Just happen to scroll some threads recently, which is why I remember the name of the company. Sixer, how’s your progress? We are suppose to have our laminate flooring installed today and carpentry is up next. After carpentry up, means can HO already??
-
Haha, I knw, the week before also till nearly 2am right;) We met him on both Saturday mornings, that's why we know
-
Adrian, can try bringing your tiles from the other shops to Yeak's usual places. I brought one from a different shop to Hafary and they said they have the same tile there, no harm trying.
-
I've also asked Mark about the window latch, was told the stainless steel one he gave us is better, won't break as easily as the white ones. But after speaking to Yeak on Sat, we may decide to ask Mark to change the latch too, cos it'll look nicer.

Last saw Yeak before the PPP, he already looked very tired then. He told us not enough sleep...
-
Lights quite sama sama with everyone's. Notice the black bag on the floor? Yeak's and you can see his image in the second picture
