LOL cant agree more. Tag Team Champion just a quick check.. has anyone ever wondered, the so called ID we came across either at reno fair or when we walk into a showroom are actually jus another salesman whom does not have any design background nor attended any design school. BUT YET.. people are engaging them as designer to do up their home. Do people only cared about prices and not real substance? Just wondering. no offence. cheers. ID ? so do they (the salesperson) have relevant certificate in interior design? Diploma in interior design? I doubt so. -
Have anyone ever thought about this. The regular interior designers we all came across, either in home reno fair or any shops in any shopping centre, are actually just another salesman. 95% of these 'designers' do not have any design background or attended any design schools, some are o'lvls educated, some are diploma holders in a non-relevant filed such as business or engineering. BUT YET why do people still engage them as designers for their house? Are we really getting design? or jus repeated 'decorations' inside the salesman's sale kit? Have anybody wondered? Where are the REAL designers?

Cheaper To Source For Contractors To Do Different Things?
renault replied to Kesmond's topic in Living, Dining & Storage
by doing this, u will get endless headache. U may end up paying more in the end, there r alot of hidden techinical stuffs that u must know if u wanna coordinate a reno urself. u can engage a contractor instead of a ID. the price will be much cheaper, but the disadvantage is.. contractor cant design. in fact some 'so-called ID' already cant design. so beware.. to me, the best way is... look for a qualified designer with cert, comes from design school.. to do the design & drawing... and look for a contractor to build the actual thing. this way, u still get GOOD design, and u not only save cost, but save yourself a headache.. but looking for certified designers also need tips. BUT definetely beats lookin for all the sub-cons and suppliers urself.. FOR SURE.. Cheers! -
my friend recently renovated her place. Her Id, despite after she have paid the full amount, came to touch up her place. She was shifting in, and the movers accidentally knocked a small hole on the wall. Her ID came down to her place personally to patch up the hole for her. Sounds simple & easy, but sad to say, many Ids do not display such good after sales services.

37k for a 3rm resale is rather steep. my friend jus finish her renovation, also a 3rm resale. at 28k. All the essential items are in.. I.e tiling, kitchen cabinet, 2 x wardrobes.. plastering.. etc etc... For a 37k renovation, u can have a rather fantastic design already for your house, unless that is what u are looking for. 37k is abit high unless they are giving u FANTASTIC design. haha. sbc design, ironically, are contractors despite their company name. they are not really designers. My opinion is... if u want REAL design, then look for REAL IDs.

Generally, kitchen should not be in the NW sector. NW belongs to the Chien Kua. And also represents the Heaven Gate. With kitchen in the NW sector, in FS term, its call 'Fire burning heaven gate' Highly inauspicious. Chien kua represents the head of the family, usually the father. With heaven burning heaven gate, the head of the family will face many problems.

4rm Resale Quotation

base on the above price of the listed items, i believe u can get a slightly better deal. perhaps at 31k or less. But of course, u have to judge not only on the price but also the services & workmanship. etc. -
Hi roamca, my friend jus renovated her 3NG unit at clementi. the design is rather unique, daring yet not too 'over'. she did almost exactly what u wanna do. last renovation works done in that unit was believe to be 20yrs ago. she spent 28k on the renovation. and it took the ID 5weeks... 3weeks is almost impossible.. i think..
