  1. No big issue lah. I do welcome visitor to see so that they have an idea how to make their house swee swee. Just now the tiler asked me if I have visited my flat last night when the rework tilings are still wet. He explained that today he has to rehack about 6 of them because they are being step upon when wet. I think it's a small issue but hope any visitor tonight or tomorrow morning can help to avoid those tiles that have things on top of it and avoid if possible.
  2. To all visitors to my flat, Thank you for your interest in my flat. Just a friendly reminder not to step on the tiles with objects like pails or boxes on top of them.
  3. Your hubby more chin chye type right. Think can just ask one worker to scrap the edges. I am surprised Ah Tan is still around. I was told he already no longer with uncle. If he is still around, I want to ask him to change one of my broken mcb. It's also my first time to see him so angry and heard so much @#$% that day. For the grouting, do you know if uncle use the same type as homefix.
  4. On that day, the first to get F was the tiler, follow by carpenter boss, then his worker, then on the phone and the last one was a quarrel with the aircon contractor.
  5. I will tell him tonight cos don't want to keep calling him. Maybe you too perfectionist lah. As long as functionally ok and no safety issue should be ok. Actually I pity the carpenter because after coming to my place to have lunch at the corridor, he kena F the second time. His worker also kena F and asked to go home. Frankly I was also quite shocked to see him F so many people. On the phone also F someone but I do not know who. After the guys left and uncle calmed down he explained that this carpenter is his friend and has got problem getting good worker and didn't know how to manage his projects. I also want to find out where to buy the grouting. Im thinking maybe I can touch up the loose ends.
  6. Quite true but I do agree that it is better for uncle to give them instruction. But some contractors very scare of uncle and ask me next time can contact them direct, no need to talk to uncle.
  7. familyof4: I am glad to hear that you do not have much rectification. Understand from uncle that your carpentry are very well done. Actually I don not mind overspill grouting but not under. I noticed some of mine got to scrutinize the level of grouting and some has holes in it. I suspect because of that, the edges appeared to be very sharp. If I look at a inclined angle, I cannot see any grouting at all. I also got problem on one of the homo tiles. One relative accidentally left the red nail polish mark on the tiles. I tried using floor cleaner but not able to remove. Thought of using thinner but was told that it will dull the shinny surface of the tile. Anyone can advise? Haha.. we have the same HO again. But my shifting cannot delay unless uncle wants to pay for another week of rental. By the way, uncle not always at my place. I just checked with him and he say he will reach my place only in an hours time.
  8. I don't think uncle bought the tiles for the uneven surface and he told me that the cutleg edges can be ppolished. I don't know why he told you cannot, maybe yours is too serious. I am also really tired of cleaning again and I will make do with polishing. Will see how it goes tonight. It's good that you are around to oversee the rectification. But I notice the foreman was quite hostile when I talk to him about the rework.
  9. Aubrey, can want to find out how to resolve the cutleg feeling for the tiles. Do they just polish off the sharp edges or retile? Heard from uncle that Ah Di is one of the better one so your carpentry should be alright.
  10. Ya lor, my leave also left very few due to two shutdown this year. Now feel very wasted and comtemplating if I should take another two days to unpacked my stuff after HO.
  11. Those already used, no choice but I just hope they "automatic" abit and don't suka suka take my things. If I write big big will be quite embarassing for them and for me as well. I cannot lock the storeroom cos inside also need rectification. Uncle knows that I have been renting the flat on a weekly basis. Last week, I mentioned to him if there is delay in HO due to workmanship, I will ask him to foot my rental. Yesterday he asked me 50-50 can or not. Today should have many ppl there like tiler, electrician, painter, carpenter, aircon etc if not Friday cannot HO. I read that you also have quite alot of rectification work to be done. Your HO date still remains?
  12. Ok update for the day. Wasted last two day's leave. Thought will be busy unpacking but in the end, didn't do much. Also cannot cancel leave because only Sunday then know so many problems. Yesterday went to check worker are still hacking the floor tiles. Really heartpain to see all my effort go to the drain. The whole place is full of powder, sand and waste again. Told the foreman about the drainage and he was only told to settle the hollow tile. Managed to ask Uncle to talk to him and reluctantly he said will do it tomorrow. Aircon humming issue is a system problem and so arrange panny technician to come on Wednesday. Uncle's battery was flat and called in the late evening to let me that HO will be this friday. He explained that the tiler workmanship is not good when they rush. They have also removed some worker who's workmanship are poor. I also told him that the carpentry work is very poor and I am unhappy with the built in cabinet, kitchen cabinet and shoe rack. He apologised and told me he stopped given work to him until he gets good carpenter. He mentioned Ah Wei and Ah Di's workmanship is the better one. I noticed the workers used my floor mats, bath towels and even my brand new vacuum cleaner. Think they use it to vacuum the sand. Unfortunately I cannot move back part of the stuff back unless I pay the mover for the service. Really sian when part of my things are there already. smallboy: For my case, chemical doesn't help because when I checked, the hollow sound is still the same. Uncle said that they didn't do a good job. Will check rectification work this evening.
  13. I want to be fair to the carpenter as well. I am happy with the work on the wardrobe and built in cabinet in the MBR but not the built in cabinet in the living room, shoe rack and all the cabinets in the kitchen. The differences are quite obvious. So out of the 3 carpenter, only 1 is good. Quite pity him cos uncle told him no projects for him until he get good carpenter. I have too many rectification and don't know when can complete.
  14. ok update for the day. I had a super busy weekend. Early in the morning went to check the tiles because uncle confirm the night before all the hollow tiles are reworked and I can move in. Was quite frustrated to find some tiles still hollow. After taking a few hours to move some of my stuff and clean the place, I found some time to check the tiles. Was quite shocking to find many tiles are hollow. The last round was checked by the workers and found only 14pcs. For me I didn't count but didn't expect so many. The hollow are usually at the corners. See pix below: Immediately called up the mover to stop the move but pay them some transportation money since they said they already arrived. Earlier I have anticipated delay and ask the landlord that I might rent the flat for another week so quite lucky to arrange the contingency. But need to waste $$ again. I wasn't too happy about the handover condition and just now given uncle 2 pages of rectification to be completed. As expected the water drainage is a problem and doesnt drain well. I did show him the stagnant water from yesterday is still there. Uncle today quite bad mood. He scolded the tiler for the shoddy work and told him if I cannot accept minor hollow, the whole house need to retile. After that the carpenter also kena #$!%^(. Pity the new carpenter as it's his first day of work. Uncle explained that it is quite subjective as some people might feel the tile sound hollow and some might not. Maybe I am abit careful and that's why found many. In the end, told him if minor I can accept but major one has to be reworked. He arranged the tiler to rework the next day because today is my entry day and the folks need to offer prayers and I need to stay there overnight. Uncle then #@)$&)@$) the aircon contractor because the aircon bracket cannot be fixed since the carpentry is done. In the end, need to ask the carpenter to dismantle the cabinet. Uncle also forgot the lay the aircon drainage pipe in the bathroom. Was quite angry about the workmanship of the tiling and carpentry but feel better because uncle say he will definitely rectified the problems. So kudos to him and hope he can rectify the outstanding.
  15. Aubrey: The cut leg feeling is obvious especially in the kitchen. There are also other areas with uneven tiles. I am quite frustrated on the workmanship and the hollow tiles. Have temporary stopped the mover on Sunday from moving my stuff and extended my rental for another week. All: Thanks for all the replys. There are too many rectifications that prevents me from moving in yesterday. When all resolve then I will share in the blog cos don't want any affect uncle's reputation.
  16. Just came back after collecting the keys. Checked the tiles for more than 2 hours and has used up the masking tape before I could finished checking. Not too happy abt the handover condition. Has complained to uncle about the poor workmanship. Too tired to elaborate today. So just enjoy the photo from my mobile. My apology cos lousy camera phone.
  17. Ok no problem. I have moved my shifting to Sunday instead because of the reworked tiles (14 of them). I will be up north and probably back only evening. No need to msg me, just go and qc for me as well . Uncle's people will be there 1-3. PM you in a while.
  18. familyof4: Alamak, finally kena found out. Not that I don't want to post, just that previously no light and always light tripped so difficult to take photos. Honestly I am no that diligent to take regular photo during the reno and also lazy to bring camera. Will try to take some photo this weekend. aubrey: The carpenter boss is Ah Hong. I don't know who is his carpenter foreman. He also didn't draft anything for me cos he said my drawing better than his. Don't know whether he wants to make me happy or don't want to draw for me. Ok will post photo so stay tuned.
  19. Haha..my mistake, thought you upset on tiles as well. It will be a little bit inconvenient if you have already moved in. B4 they come to rectify, might have to cover up your stuff cos white powder will be over the place. Don't worry too much. Remember must be happy when you move it. If always unhappy will create more negative energy right. So cheer up.
  20. aubrey, qc wise uncle more stringent. Grout holes can be easily patchup no problem. Ask uncle to take a look since now he is not up to the neck. Don't upset ok, sure got way to work around.
  21. aubrey, please request to have it change if got cut leg feeling. I have fell down once before and the tiles cut through my arm. Now scar remains. Ok, trying to find my scar and cannot find, thought healed already. Still have it but now not so obvious.
  22. Pet: Moved 10+, must really . I moved once already given up and not going to go through reno again. Still recovering from splitting headache and high blood. Maybe age is catching up. Think can hire malaysian tiler. I see most of them from there.
  23. Aubrey, my current carpenter workmanship is not so good but the good thing is that he is very responsive and willing to rectify. Actually he is the boss and his worker make the carpentry. If you like, I can take some photos for you to see.
  24. Metal, just to let you know I negotiated with uncle before commencing VO. He told me that he will calculate accordingly after VO finished but I insisted on the negotiating on the psf price b4 commence. I told him frankly I do not have $$ to pay if he charge more than that.
