Hi apple, hope you are feeling better today. Yes my dateline is also very tight. Before reno start, already not so smooth. Uncle forgot my tongtu date after many reminders. Has asked him to start anytime after my tongtu but must complete and handover by end May. There was also hiccup in the hacking. So guess today (8 days into the reno) will still be hacking plus screed. Same as you, if cannot handover I still need to vacate the house because the new tenant will be moving in on the 1st. Was about to ask Uncle for help to store my stuff but he told me no problem handing over by end May. Still keeping my fingers crossed while planning for contingency. When closer to your move out date and if your reno has not complete yet, perhaps you could ask if the new owner to see can extend of a week or so. Have you check if the Uncle tilers are in today to hack and retile? I believe the rectification can be completed in two, three days.

I do not know how fast they can do the job but uncle told me latest saturday can finish tiling. I was about to ask him for help to store my stuff and since he told me sure can finish, I held back my question. Think we both have our own commitments and I do hope both our houses can finish on time.

Don't know if Jason also fly aeroplane. A few things need to settle first is how many lights and also the electrical installation. Next is the carpentry and paint. Don't know if he can settle so many things at once. Hope to hear good news about your house tomorrow, ok.

familyof4, don't feel upset about the progress ok. At least you still have some rooms with 100% completion right. So look at the bright side. Actually which wall is affected? ok update for the day. Uncle called to see if Im at home. Collected 2nd payment. Actually feel better to collect more time because definitely can meet him. Emphasize to him must finish the reno end of the month. He asked me don't worry sure can finish. Told me that he ask his whole team to go my place so that can finish tiling by this week. He said the other job must wait for permit, think he is refering to familyof4. Seems he's asking Jason to handle more things. Will ask Jason to call me. He also warn me that Jason is handling many things right now and tell me in advance to communicate properly so as to prevent miscom.

When you go to the branch office, you will still have to go through the officer. He will tell you they will try to expedite blah blah blah. That is the norm. Tell him you want to speak to the manager/supervisor. The supervisor will bring you to her officer and you can explain the situation to her. For my case (parent's house), the issue was resolved on the second day. The supervisor called me up on the approval.

Uncle just confirmed can hack already. So hacking will continue for another day or two I guess. familyof4: If the officer got no news for you, suggest you speak to his supervisor/manager. I have spoken to HDB officer for other matter but also no news. Went to the supervisor instead and things moves much faster.

Uncle finally called that wall didn't hack because not approved. Told him not possible. The wall was already hacked by previous owner as I merely shift the opening to the right. If not approved, I will ask HDB to patch it back since inspection didn't mentioned anything. Ask Uncle to check one more time.

Perhaps you could escalate to the supervisor of the officer since it is delayed for so long. HDB has a customer service dept to handle complaints right. I see you have changed your HO date. I have to vacate my flat end of the month so bo bian must moved out. Have tried extension but heard new tenant coming in on the 1st June.

Sorry to hear about the kitchen tiles. Reno is not always plain sailing. Don't feel depressed and look at the bright side. It is better to discover the problem now than after you moved in right. I am also facing the same situation where I have to move out end of the month. My plan is to rent a place to keep my stuff and bunk in maybe at parent's place (but haven't discuss with them yet. Most probably will get it from them again) or see if I can rent a place to stay for short time.

Has HDB approved your hacking? It is better to have all the tiling completed before starting the carpentry. Just went to your t-blog and realised that we have the same HO date. For my case, I don't have much confident it can be done on time since one week past and progress is slow. Really stressed up and do not know if I should let the folks be prepared.

I hope he does. Suppose to meet him at 10.30pm this morning. Scared aeroplane, so told him to call me when confirm but didn't hear anything. Called him and he changed appt to 12.30pm then 2.30pm. Don't know what is happening as well. Only know kitchen wall half done as uncle told me HDB not approved. But toilet wall didn't mentioned. Uncle brother only mentioned Uncle didnt say must hack. Checked with Uncle adn he told me he will check around noon and called me. So I called him again to ask and he told me havent check yet. I only worry the tiler start to tile the wall which has to be hacked.

Checked on Sunday, lots of sand around and the tiles are delivery. Hurray! Uncle told me on Saturday cementing started but cement bag haven't open yet leh. Anyway back to the hacking. Still outstanding. Called up Uncle brother why haven't finished hacking, cannot be taking 5 days right. He mentioned already finished and so I asked why the wall still there. He told me Uncle never say. Called up Uncle in the today morning and noon. He say haven't go check. Looking at the progress not very optimistic I can move in end of the month.

Sorry for the late reply. Just came back from North. Didn't check on the house. Suppose to meet Uncle today to verify tiles. Called him in the afternoon to confirm the meeting tonight. Told me he cannot make it and ask me to check the tiles myself. I did check with him why hacking take so long and was told one of my wall not approved but HDB didn't say why. Guess got to live with it. Now got problem because my sink is too big if the wall cannot hack. Don't can change or not since I already paid fully for it. growler: My hacking took slightly longer, four days. Got to check if everything hack cos the last check, still have outstanding.

Wah just saw your MBR tiles. It's the one at the corner of SL right. The tiles are bigger than normal and quite expensive. I did ask for 30x60cm but was told only one size. Very nice, envy you.

Please do not feel that mine is the worst experience. Everytime when he make it to the appointment I felt very happy. Thanks for offering to "nudge" him but it is not necessary. I have already accepted his way of doing things and take it positively. Why I am writing is just to share my experience for other who feel upset about the aeroplanes which I guess I have many experiences.

I got that experience as well. For me, he really fly aeroplane but i try my best not to blew my top. That time he asked me if can come earlier. Can you imagine rushing from tuas to PR during the evening peak hour. In the end, waited like a Sotong and realised later that he could not make it. My worst experience is during the tong tu day when he forgotten and told me he cannot come. My folks, FSM etc were shocked when I told them and that day i kena jialat jialat.

Talking about that, there is one time I even called 1hr before and then 15 min before to remind him. Guess what he went back to sleep after talking to me, haha... But he still made it after 2 1/2 hrs late and told me he overslept. I was glad he can made it and was honest. Unfortunately my aircon contractor could not wait, make some comment about uncle and left after an hour.

For me, I don't mind lateness. There were occasions when I had travelled from west to east just to meet him and waited for hours at the void deck. (house too hot without fan) But I was happy when he still made it. Actually If I am at home when he fly aeroplane, I am still alright. But when I have to apply leave just to meet him and called before the appointment and he still fly aeroplane. I will feel that I have wasted time and resource. There were also a few occasions when I have to cancel other appointments to rush back and waited in vain. The worst thing I face so far is that he doesn't answer call and you don't know whether to wait for him or go home. Now I am more thick skinned. Even when he told me no need to remind or confirm with him, I will still call him to check "Uncle, confirm or not" before each appointment. I still believe that Uncle is a reliable and honest contractor. The only problem is that he is too busy and very forgetful nowadays. As many says these aeroplanes come with the package.

familyof4: Don't think they will go over my side. hacking progress is abit slow. Some windows and wall not hack yet. Don't know why stop work. Uncle brother did said floor hacking must complete first, the rest can do slowly. Don't know how long the hacking will take. Thought within 2 days. Mine today is already third day. ivy, pet: Yes you are right, I think his clients are all the patient lot. My colleague who got the house earlier is less patient and dropped him after two aeroplanes.
