  1. haha... after doing reno with Uncle....... my Chinese improved....... and my JC Chinese was dismal grades.... fail all the way!!!
  2. I install Corian top for my kitchen counter. Honestly dont know the difference bet Bellus and Corian. Now barely 2 weeks into my new house, my Corian top got lots of scratches. Wondering if I make the right decision to have Corian. Might as well go for cheaper brand. SIGH. What's the big deal with Corian anyway? No offense to anyone but I am just frust with the product and price.
  3. OG sale usually very worth it. Wondering if got bedsheets. Anyone been there?
  4. hi Fannie, still WIP lei... still trying to pack the house and make it more tidy than ever. The process is always on going. The kids are super happy...... so much more space to play with...... a proper dining area to eat together. And I am super happy with my kitchen. really lots of space for storage....... lots of counter top area to work on. Just perfect! We just had a birthday party for my girl....... wa... stress test with 7 screaming girls..... oily hands on my mirrors and cabinets (faintzzz) somehow they just love to run their hands across clean surfaces. YUCKS! Photos will come next week......... hopefully decals can be up for my kitchen panels. And my kids room.
  5. I shared the prices in my blog. Average price per 80cm, deep BLUM tandenbox is about $100. Reasonable, considering ID charging me $300 per box. Aiyo. I got the entire blum system from my contractor. That's the price he quoted me. Some in this forum bought direct from a dealer. They can share where they buy theirs. more pics of my blum on my overhead cabinet.
  6. For my reno, acid wash was done 2 days before HANDOVER. which means after all major works are done. And acid wash is not like what we imagine......... izzzzzzzzz and everything melts like that....... no no. In fact, i saw the workers and even Jason doing that with their bare hands. Very little concentration, not so serious type. hee.hee..
  7. hi Aubrey, read your concerns about the carpentry works. I remember seeing the inside (core) of the wood. It is like 'layers' of wood (laymen terms). But not as thick as the one Reiki showed. As for the kitchen cabinets, I think the overall thickness looks ok. I saw your pics on the sink part. Looks exactly like mine lei. As for ability to withstand weight, I got 1 carpentry guy to stand and sit here while putting in the OVEN, it was ok. If you got any questions, good to clarify with Uncle.
  8. Bought a new bed for my princess. We were using a double decker bed back in the old house. Have been searching for a bed for her but prices are way too high or not very functional. esp ikea ones which may not be sturdy. This bed is what furniture shops sells. But I got it online at http://www.beds.sg/ProductList.asp?Sid=11. I like it cos the roll out bed is very smooth. I like it cos the prices are very good. Cheaper than most shops. I like it cos the wood is solid wood. I like it cos it is sturdy and safe. Why i know? I had a party with 7 girls (they were jumping on the bed last Sat at my girl birthday party). It didn't collapse, hahaha! I like it cos the price includes delivery and installation. I like it cos the service telephone line provided is prompt and responsive. I like it cos it exceed my expectations of a kiddie bed. I think this bed will be good for guest rooms or elderly parents too. So, check out this website. http://www.beds.sg/ProductList.asp?Sid=11 There is quite a wide range to select from. From single beds to queen size ones. This one I bought is only $158, add $99 for the pullout bed below. Total $257. Good price for the type of solid wood bed.
  9. Apples, FINALLY move it! Congrats! Wa.. the City gas saga is really scary! Thank God everything went well.
  10. your place looking good! Dont look like you need lots of reno works.
  11. Aubrey, great to see your reno progressing well.
  12. Wa.. your kitchen got lots of storage. I like! The part of corner (what are you gonna do with that?) ....... easy to access??
  13. thanks audrey and born again for the tips in cleaning. XBB, yes.. initially I also find the handleless part tough to open. But there is a 45 degree slant which you can slot your fingers in and pull it open. It takes a while getting used to. I put some heavy pots in the lower drawers. In fact, not much of a problem. Blum tracks very smooth!!!
  14. I like the shelves for your boys' room. A pull out tray for keyboard. Nice nice wor. I am one for OPEN shelves for books (for children) cos I want them to have easy access to books. I want them to be able to sit around there and just pull books out for easy reading. Hee..hee.. speaking from a mom's perspective. That's what I did with my elder daugther. Same now for the younger one. what is the depth of this short book shelves. You dont want something too 'thick' then very hard to close the windows. Just some thoughts for you.
  15. XBB, I remember it was cast iron. You can check with Desmond. Born again, thanks for your help. That's why now, I am wanting to go for painting. As for Homo Tiles, sigh... it look so good but hard to maintain. That's what my sis friend had too. Always got to clean. Apples, a bit of works here and there. I forgot to tell Uncle about black grouting again. hahaha.. maybe I can leave with 'cement' color afterall. hee..he... Booy, hee..hee.. I also can stress test for you. I am my mom's disciple. My 'wok-hei' (ie wok fire) very important to me when i cook.
  16. hahaha... you dont know what you are asking for? My mom aka zhi-char style........ full of fire and fumes.... the hotter the fire the better. Then smoke will engulf the place. Now you know why I had to have a wet kitchen. I am old school type. After she cooks, I like to splash water on the floor to wash away the grease. Luckily I only allow her to cook 2 times a week. Or else my white kitchen will be grey charcoal soon!
  17. Wa... you guys are WELL PREPARED!
  18. Hi How everything on your side? Things resolved?
  19. Yap, you can trust Uncle to take responsibility. That's the part I really really like about Uncle. If they do wrongly, you dont even need to 'pretend to be angry', he will get it done for you. That's his badge of commitment. For my reno, though i have my fair share of hiccups, Uncle is truly honest and responsible person. Be rest assured!
  20. Ya lor, can help Uncle to ease the bottleneck of quotations. And also help Jason with drawings. Cos Jason side also bottleneck with all the drawings to do.
  21. Aiyo... why you tell us where you put your safe... ... not safe. hee..hee... BTW, I really like the floor laminate you have chosen. Drool.... drool. Great meeting you downstairs.
  22. Wa...got 3D drawings for tiles. No wonder Uncle impressed. Ask him for freelance job. hahaha.. he really need the pro help he can get.
  23. Fannie, in the course of reno, esp when carpentry comes in, sure have dents/scratches on wall cos they are moving large pieces of wood, after all. As long as you point them out, the painters will plaster a bit and then paint over. This should rest your fears a bit. As for carpentry, you got the a good guy under Uncle. Uncle has a few teams. According to Jason, Ah Wei is very trusted and good. Workmanship also good. Sigh.... why can't I get Ah Wei? Ah Wei did Fondue and their workmanship like got no problems, unlike mine. So, overall, your reno in good hands. As for electrical, everyone will get the same guy. As long as you are there to walk thru the points and give them drawings. good! But for actual installation of lights, I make myself PRESENT to supervise. Lights, cannot put up and take down. Si-car-li, spoil along the way. You know what I mean. I love my lights, so I dont want anything to happen to them. As for installation of bathroom accessories, be PRESENT to tell them where to drill and put. One of my spray was put in a wrong position. Jason/Uncle casually said can change. Now, how to change. If change, got to hack the tile, and this tile is behind my WC... we can't possibly shift that too. So, my conclusion, some things cannot be easily rectified. So I am living with a spray which can just wash my WC but not my own bathroom. SIGH... now I am looking for a longer hose spray. SIGH again! So I hope this prepare you ahead.
  24. hahaha... over the course of my reno.... I have drowned down countless cans of COKE ZERO. That's my de-stress food. So, rest well, take a breather...... gain more strength to continue on this reno journey. It will soon be over. Swee Swee.......... take care!
  25. Yap... dont be stressed ok..I totally KNOW your frustations. I was there just a few weeks ago. Enjoy your noodles. Heard the electrical team.... people quit already. This Ah Tan also complain he working too hard. Seems like he is the ONLY one team doing all the works. Told my hubby that he got no overtime pay......... still got to work so hard. He came over late at night a few days ago. And he said Ah Soon kept scolding people. hahaha... of course we know why they are scolded.
