Aubrey, dont be upset yet. I agree with Rondy. Since Uncle so nice, ask him to change EVERYTHING so there wont be colour difference la. Simple and easy solution. And I also use the same word you use on the electrical guy: LAZY. Yes. that's exactly what I told my hubby. SIGH. I ask him to drill a hole for my wall mounted speakers......... then he said the 'nails/screws' I gave him so LONG.... will take a long time to do.......Hello, of course need long nail/screws........ cos weight of the speakers.

Wa.. so informative. Rondy, you got proxy shop for us la?

thanks Adrian John. Stress test results (my Cuzino Hob + Hoob): After 3 hours of continous burning (for my Cantonese Mom who brew soups) - PASSED. hahaha.. glass didn't crack under that time of heat 45 mins - 1 hour of stir frying, deep frying with my WOK - PASSED... in fact, we like the fire... very suitable for Chinese WOK cooking. (Franke sink + Tap): we really 'abused' it... very durable... still looking good! Did some much washing on the sink.

Rondy, nice pics. I like! wa.. got 3D decals.......... now I really want to go BKK... broke liao.. cannot go.

Give yourself time to evaulate the options. Mr. Yeak seems to be doing a great job for PreciousJam now. He did Rondy and some others too. Ask them for their reviews too. Uncle prices are good but if time & project management is a concern then dont jump into it. More heartache and headaches later on.

I want that man-sized tree. I was looking for something like that. Where to buy in Singapore? Can hang clothes, right? This is really really cool soft furnishing.

Ivy, yesterday some plumbers came over to fix my leaking pipe. Heard them saying to each other "huh, this house same as that block one"... I think mean your house. So plumbling works may be starting today, right?

Zio, quote was $38,000. Then got to include VO..... more to come....hee..hee.. Fannie, I will take note of that. we have those Crayola ones. Washable. But my children got presents from who and who... goodie bags of crayons. That's where I lost the tracking. what crayons. Nottimonster, no worries. in this forum, we help one another. NOw, verdict of my wall paper: Still CMI. how? NOw got streaks of bubbles... dont know what to say. If wallpaper is so difficult I really just want to paint. If I know, I should have just painted. Uncle was very nice... when I called him about this problem. He came last night about 9+pm......... also say bad. I dont want Uncle to continue to lose money, with this wall paper thingy. I requested for paint. But he insist that we will see how it goes. Maybe I need to re-choose my wallpaper. HUH? Uncle seems to think I want it or maybe he thinks I will write about this. NO! NO! NO! I am willing to take paint. Without even Uncle needing to compensate. I just want it over. I dont think this part is Uncle fault. Just some bad wallpaper installation and service. Also put 3 times, Uncle wasted lots of money in this process la. Dont want to cause him more trouble. I just want to 'sui ban' case closed.

YES. Totally agree. A word of advice to those with Ah Soon. When it comes to carpentry, it is good to know what you want or else they will draw/fabricate whatever they think is nice. And if you need more time to think about what Jason has drawn, ask for time. Or else, they chop chop go ahead or tell you cannot change liao. And for working with Jason, MAKE SURE your design is in paper and in FULL details. Then go thru 1 more time with the carpentry guys and the electrical guys etc. Then make sure your latest paper design is also the same one with the carpentry. I encountered ONCE when the TV console + feature wall design (onpaper) is different from the carpentry guy. Wa.. heng.. saw it and tell him directly. Like my TV console, I SPECIFICALLY told Jason I want the grain of the wood to be run in a horizontal way. WA.... came up it was vertical. Sianz....... I complain to Uncle directly. Then he kind of said we didnt' communicate. Actually I knew this will happen so I SAID to run the woodgrain this way. So lesson learnt, be very FIRM with what you want! And insist till it is done your way.

Ah Soon
Smallboy replied to juz_me's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Yes... with Ah Soon's growing popularity...... biz from this forum alone is soaring... whoever wants to take Ah Soon got to manage your expectation. He will be busy, you got to project management most of the time. And you got to be able to 'give & take'......... cannot expect everything to be perfect perfect. Ah Soon is nice and friendly. Very easy going, prices are good. BUT you got to realise you will do most of the 'work' (inspection) yourself. And he does not have time to work thru EVERY detail with you. You got to know what you want and tell him. He just dont have time for each and every project. Read all of Fondue, Apples, my blog too. But he is very committed to quality. If not right, he will change the things for you. Like my cabinet for example. He took out some doors and ask the carpentry to re-do. Very costly but he is committed to that. Since he is a contractor, he dont provide colour, design services. You will see from the forum here, those who use him. We design, plan our own house. That's the BIGGEST fulfullment we all got. -
I didn't. Can dish detergent work. I did use a little CIF but was afraid the abrasive nature will scratch it. How huh? Aiyo, I dont want to live in paranoia ........... I just want to enjoy the house. Kids will be kids, will dirty the house. I dont mind as long as can clean. I chose homo tiles because I thought easy to maintain. Cos last time I had broken marble. stains really get 'absorbed' into the marble. So got to be very careful. Sigh, now in this new house, also like that. I will die with unendless cleaning. hahahaha.....

Aubrey, go and call Jason. He always says carpentry work done already. BLUFF, BLUFF!!! Cos he dont want the hussle of changing. If not call the carpentry guy direct.
-
hi Aubrey, glad you have something you are comfortable with. Just a thought. If you have that set of drawers at the corner, will it be difficult to open if someone standing there washing plates or things? Just a thought if there are 2 persons working in the kitchen. 1 standing at the sink area, 1 standing at the stove cooking. So as to minimize "excuse me"...... blocking should you need to open those drawers to reach your sauces. Just my thought. but go ahead with what is comfortable for you. oh, btw, the pull out sauce steel rack is less than 80. Ask the carpentry guy to buy for you. Cheaper that way.

hahaha.. the hokkien exchange is really funny! Uncle thinks he is so famous... every HDB officer must know him, is it?

Wa... you told him I blog about him in this forum. hee..hee... no wonder I got a call from him at 4plus today. So nice! He ask me anything else to rectify. Wallpaper: He sent new people to do up today. So far looks good. But needs 1 day to settle. Hopefully tomorrow will be good. But these 2 new people (think from goodrich) very detailed and good. They spent 3 hours, carefully doing up my wallpaper. Like their effort. Unlike the other two experiences... aiyo... they do fast fast... results so bad. Electrical part: All settled except for leaking pipe (which is another team problem). Will call Jason tomorrow. Glass piece: Missing glass panel near my cooking area. I told Uncle. He said to call Jason tomorrow. Grout lines: forgot to tell Uncle Stains on tiles: Stains cannot resolve already. Let it be. But I must ask Jason/Uncle how to maintain. Homo tiles seems really tough to maintain. Today my girl did coloring with Crayons. I nearly died. The Crayons sticks to the floor and when I clean it, it leave the colour on the tiles. GASP! help... help... anyone got this experience?
