  1. Wa... read a whole chunk of posts on laminates and 'liquid paper'. Let me clarify some points: I went thru the same heartache when I see the grove lines. It is 'normal' to see groove lines. The expensive ones are more than 3-5X the prices of normal laminates. Most carpentry uses this normal laminates unless you want to pay thru your nose for those expensive ones. Dont think Uncle can even absorb. I 'accidentally' chose the ex/solid core type... wa.. Jason, Uncle and Carpentry straight away said no. Carpentry is when 2 pieces of wood/laminates meet, it is normal to have groove lines. Just make sure it is not too obvious. Normally they will cover up with 'paint pens"....... the workers called it "liquid paper'. I inspect and took one of the pens before...... it is Nippon Paint Pens. So the terms they use may put us off for a while. But when we see deeper, it is really paint. I have checked with different people - touching up with the Paint Pens is normal. Ask Lawry. So, anyone got any experience with this? Maybe I am wrong??? hee..hee..
  2. Wow.. missed a few days of your updates. Was away in Malacca. Lovely colours....... I like the softnesss of that yellow colour. Not too bright......... just very soothing. Very comforting feeling. Overall your progress is good!
  3. Yes... I like wood so i request for wood skirting. . Just top up a bit more. Ask your ID whether can do.
  4. okie.. here are some updated pics of my dining area. Added in 2 new chairs. Ordered from S&C catalogue. I thought it was black when I saw it, when it was delivered it was greyish black. Maybe I remembered wrongly. hahaha.. We wanted 2 chairs which are different from the dining set.
  5. Wow.. very nice classy toilets!!!
  6. very nice stuff you bought... aiya.. how come I never see the blue wine glass. I like I like!!!! I also want to put dessert. Thinking of doing my tiramisu on the wine glass.
  7. wow... black and white.. very nice indeed. A touch of class!!!
  8. aubrey, for your spice rack, hope over to Jalan Besar, Royal Franco. Henry will be able to help you. Good quality, good service. PreciousJam, myself and some others had good experience with Royal Franco.
  9. actually it is worth the trip. They got household gadgets too...... water pitcher........ pots (the Zebra brand)... catering trays, teapots and cups sets........etc etc
  10. O.. I know what you mean.. very Korean restaurant.......... I didn't see..... I was too distracted with the Mikasa wine glass......... branded glasses lei.
  11. Wa.. like that die liao... I got a WIW lei.hahaha.... I believe the strength of my marriage will be stronger than the WIW...... hee..hee.. Ultimately it is the love, the commitment to the marriage each person bring to the marriage equation, not the building of a WIW that determines it. Definitely I have seen longevity of marriages (with WIW) and shortness of it without.......... there is always both sides to the coin. My 2c worth.
  12. hi Todbee, dont worry about insisting on changing the surface top. You dont need to hack the cabinets to change the solid surface top. I had my solid surface top changed too cos they did wrongly. My cabinets suffer no damage. Just insist your ID change it for you. If he cooks up a story that he got to change cabinets, tell him what you read here. Dont Kek sim......... just change it.
  13. In response to NCY, when I was searching for a contractor, i dont see a lot of forumers recommending their contractors. But I do read about Ah soon, heard about this style of working, and the time I may have to fork out to project mgt. So, recently after he has done up my house, we ask ourselves the question "Did we do the right thing to hire him" after the different saga we went thru. One question which we can't answer "if we had engage a ID or another contractor, would it be hussle free too?". We had our fair share of hiccups with Ah Soon and I have objectively blog about it. I dont believe in giving blankets answer "Oh, it is his sub-con fault" or "Oh, it is like that" and I got to accept it. I am the customer and I pay to have a reasonable level of service and quality. I now listed down several points of unhappiness: 1) Air con trunking forgotten to re-route 2) Kitchen cabinets made too short 3) TV console wood grain run wrongly 4) Cabinets doors lots of scratches A lot of my woes are carpentry related. And I have sat down and resolved one by one with Uncle. He has always given us the assurance and most of them are torn down and replaced without me incurring any single costs. Why we are so comfortable with him? He is committed to quality and willl do the best he can to make sure swee swee. Even when we called him at 10pm+ for the final saga about the washing for my whole house before I move in the next day, he sent 3 guys and his brother, Jason to wash up till 1am. Saying all these, humans are humans. We are prone to error too. No ID or contractors are error free. YET........ I must say some errors can best be avoided if Uncle got more time to project mgt. I expect the project mgt part but just that I didn't expect so much that I had to do. One big flaw is Uncle is overloaded with projects and can't give enough TIME to each of the existing ones. ThAT will be my biggest feedback. I still wish he has given more time to project mgt. I have no complaints for the work done weighed against the money I pay. My friend called my house "value for money'........ so much done at such a reasonable price. That's the biggest criteria for us. Well, are there good contractors out there.... I believe so. But not many of their clients are posting here to give Ah soon 'a run for his money'..... hahaha.... I mean, if you have a good house done by your contractors, post here to give others a informed alternative. I believe others will benefit from it. Pictures speaks a thousand words!!!! And I wont ask for any contact if there are no pictures to reveal anything. And I remain objective about Ah Soon. I dont idolize him or think he is any 'demi-god' hahaha....

  22. I totally understand what you guys went thru. Uncle forgetting this and that. Well, like what Gaku said, take time to cool down and see if you can accept. If can't, I believe Uncle will change it for you. I was just talking to my sister........... Uncle philosophy is very costly. He believes all things can be changed or rectified... like invincisble...... If keep going like that, with so many mistakes made, tearing down, putting up new ones......... sure lose money. She is getting her keys soon and Uncle will only meet her next week. She is considering whether to engage Uncle.
  23. I like all your frosted glass doors. nice nice!
  24. i agree with Angel. Changing the position of the entrance will give you a wet and dry area. One for shower screen(wet area) and the other is the basin and WC.
