Our direct neighbour happens to be a contractor and through her recommendation, we got to know Heritage Bathroom Gallery @ 718 Geylang Road.. There was a promotion going on when we went down and most of the items except electrical appliances (oven, hob) were having 40% discount.. Not too sure whether e promotion still have though.. Kinda lost control in that shop due to the 40% discount.. Machiam free like that.. Everything also want! haha.. In the end, we exceed our budget and spend nearly $1800 in that shop.. Items bought from Heritage We got ourselves the following at a package price of $298.. Was the best offer so far as the other shops we been to only have WC and basin package and that already cost around $280 liao.. Moreover, the design in the package is wat we want..! Water efficiency toilet bowl with 2 ticks.. it comes with slow closing cover.. we got the same one for our common toilet too.. *take note* when buying toilet bowl, need to check with your ID/contractor wat size to buy.. they come in 6", 10" etc.. Rectangle basin for master toilet need to check also the maximum size u can buy for the sink to have allowance on your vanity top to put your stuff.. too big or small will look weird.. Sink tap for common toilet

Its time for more pix! Pictures for e items we had bought so far.. Had more or less bought the stuff we need liao.. Left with big items like fridge, washing machine n bedframe.. n of course many other want items.. haha.. Waiting for GSS! Hopefully the models we want will have promotion n freebies.. wahaha.. We went to lots of shop along Geylang, Jalan Besar, IMM, Balestier before settling for Hoe Kee (IMM) and Heritage (Geylang) for our toilet n kitchen wares.. Will try to include e prices of e items for fellow forumers to get a rough idea on how much to set for their budget.. Hope it helps.. Items bought from Hoe Kee Common toilet sink with cabinet @ $266 Master toilet tap @ $120 Tecno Glass Hob (in white!) @ $430 Definitely not the cheapest.. dunno y we bought from them also.. haha.. Also bought a Tecno Oven TM018 @ $540 from Hoe Kee.. Went twice to Hoe Kee @ IMM before confirming our order on our 3rd trip down.. Overall rather pleased with their service.. Find the staff knowledgeable (at least from the 2 auntie and uncle that serve us..) and friendly.. no hard sell tactic and they even allow u to take pix of their product openly before buying from them!

for my kitchen i already allocated 6 socket for my fridge, oven, rice cooker, microwave liao.. but come to think of it, i dunno whether my hob (no hood) need to use electrical point me leh.. if need then i think i lack of 1!! using tecno glass hob.. btw, would it be the ID who communicate with the electrician or will it be the owner? house doing painting now.. so i guess in e next 2 days e lightings can install liao.. my ID serving e country now n will only b back next next week.. *suai suai* n e bad news is, we cant reach my ID now!! he say can msg him n will reply but these 2 days didnt get back to us leh.. now we dunno whether have he convey msg to e electricians to start work anot.. dunno when do we need to send the lights down.. hai... hehe.. thanks for e reminder! if not i think i will also blur blur kanna chop.. i dun want to be a carrot!! another qns.. wat if i put 4 x T5 light n i want it to on it such that 1 switch 2 x T5 will light up, will that be considered as 1 point or 2 point liao? also, normally use T5 or those fluorescent light for cove light har? sorry so many qns! cause i really dunno how it works...
-
ya lo, come to think of it, i also think its better not to touch it.. jus let it be ba.. thanks for replying! oh issit? e fengshui color can 'replace' one ar? i didnt know abt it.. got to check with fsm again.. i really want to paint e common room 2 into a darker room! dark grey to be precise.. btw, that will b our game room.. hehe..
-
Hi Jaskel, i compare the price of starmex n heavy at GC n that time e price different was abt $500.. so i jus get the cheaper one.. hehe.. i didnt get to hear e condenser running yet.. but so far e unit was quiet.. how is your MHI working? good? any problem? n most importantly, did it cause a high jump in your elec bill?? n yeah, am considering decals to put at e aircon sealed up unit.. am also thinking of puttung string curtain there.. to cover e whole aircon ledge window.. but scare will get dusty very fast.. still thinking... ... ..
-
no worries la.. now that u got my house as example, im sure your house will look better than mine! dun let my bad/not so good experience affect u too much.. u still got time to think n discuss with your contractor on how to tackle e problems..
-
Morning ocheeeng~ thanks for replying.. eh.. i think possible to run along e side of e main beam leh.. but im not too sure y it wasnt done so.. guess no choice liao.. have to live with the box up le.. take it as a consolation that it is only noticeable when coming out from master room n common room 2.. hmm.. i cant really visualise how e shadow effect will looks like leh.. will it look nice too? came across this problem when buying lights.. my ID told us to buy 3 x 4ft light but e light sales person say need 4 x 4ft to avoid shadow effect.. haha.. seems like e electrical part needs a wide knowledge and it is creating a major headache for us!~~
-
I got a few questions to ask n seek opinion from regarding lighting.. Firstly, for cove light.. assuming the length of the false ceiling to be 13ft, would u be getting.. 1) 3 x 4ft of T5 light - This will result in 2 small gap without light being able to shone through hence creating a shadow effect.. OR 2) 4 x 4ft of T5 light - Allow overlapping of light to eliminate the shadow effect.. Is this important? will we be able to notice the shadow if we use only 3 light? 2ndly, when u change the electric socket from 1 socket to 2 socket, do your contractor/ID charge u? If so do they charge u on the casing only, or the casing + additional point (need additional point? im not too sure..) 3rdly. i would like to move 1 of my SCV point in my common room.. how would e electrician move? by pulling the wire from e original point to the intended point and put all e wires inside the casing or create another new scv point? quite confuse on these electrical works..
-
Moving on to electric works.. Living False ceiling & L-Box Messy wires... i like my ceiling! though its a very normal L-box n false ceiling.. n actually e false ceiling doesnt shorten my living room height at all.. always thought by putting a false ceiling will shorten my living area.. think only older flat have a shorter ceiling height? Master Bedroom false ceiling..
-
u also got thicker insulator for your aircon? wat u doing to e ugly pipings? a little regret getting the thicker one.. but if didnt, scare later aircon got sweating problem.. hai...
-
previous owner everything also dun have la.. cause their intention is to sell e house after 5 years so didnt reno at all.. only fixture is e kitchen cabinet n a huge closet in 1 of e common room.. aircon is those window casement kind only in master bedroom.. toking abt e old aircon, i need suggestions too to beautify the seal up area for the aircon window.. sian.. my house like suddenly become very ugly liao.. oh.. then like that means u will be getting 2 fan coil? master bedroom one shouldnt b a problem.. but still must depend on your bed facing.. to see where to put e aircon unit to blow your direction.. for living room one mayb can use false ceiling to cover it up? e rooms is a problem~~~ hopefully your contractor can help u to think of better way! n i forget to add in an important factor.. GC guy say that MHI consume less energy than starmex! dunno true a not la.. hehe..
-
have, run through once with ID before e aircon guys came to install n it seems to be a problem liao.. jus not confirm yet.. when aircon guy come to install, e suggestion given was similar to ID.. seems like its e only way to run it.. no choice.. .. now can only think of ways to beautify/hide it liao..
-
thanks! think need to pop by ikea to look for solutions liao.. really big headache ar.... oh.. we didnt choose other color partly because of fengshui.. lucky color is green, yellow n white.. did thought of painting the wall green but as our theme is white house, scare it will be too loud n it might crash with the overall theme.. wanted to paint grey also but color not suitable for both of us.. not very good with e color combi.. dunno how to play with e wall color.. still deciding should we add in other colors to e rooms a not..
-
oh man, really that bad ar? n i was trying hard to convince myself that it wont be too noticeable! forget to take a pix before the box up.. have try my best to use paint to add in the actual location of the pipes.. not very good at it.. e pipe came out from the toilet and e position is very near to the left hand side of the box up.. after which, it run under e main beam and across to e room.. hence, to box up the whole thing starting from the toilet, it will 'hit' my room door.. actually thought of removing the right hand box up as shown below.. its empty there.. but scare it will bring more attention to it! will it be better if i cut it out? or worse??

eh.. i think heavy n starmex are both from the same company Mitsubishi but their technology is diff.. heard that mitsubishi heavy industries (mhi) is from japan n starmex from US.. GC staff told us that actually mhi had been doing commercial biz for quite some time n only in recent years then enter into the residential biz.. the feature for heavy industries is quite good.. they have this 24 hrs ion thingy, self clean operation and some others i forget liao... start up for the aircon is relatively fast.. n e noise level is almost unnoticeable too.. most importantly, it is a few hundred lesser than starmex! i bought at $2498 for a system 3 inverter unit.. comes with 5 years warranty.. i add on $180 to upgrade to 1/2" armaflex and from copper 23 to copper 22, 16mm drainage.. but hor, on the print of the armaflex it shows 3/8" instead of 1/2".. explanation from technician is that armaflex uses a different measurement but it is still equal to 1/2".. dunno true a not.. Below are some links on MHI.. mayb u can take into consideration also? http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10567 Online brochure of MHI http://www.mhi.co.jp/aircon/catalogue/inde...ntentsNumber=91 ya lo.. was thinking little can b done to cover my ugly piping liao.. u intend to install how many system in your home? got to think of ways to run liao also.. dun be like me~~
-
no carpentry at the moment yet.. running out of cash liao.. haha.. was thinking of building a shelf up there.. but then it seems too high for us to reach.. a bit not practical like that.. also scare that if we build carpentry there, will we b drawing attention to e piping as well? really hope the painting would be able to merge well with the pipes.. btw, painting starts today! all paint are white! so boring~~ haha..
-
Aircon piping continues... ... The pipes run from the master bedroom into this hollow false beam, into the common room 2.. Another pipe runs from my common toilet, across the main beam before reaching common room 1.. my ID created a box up for us to hide the piping.. dunno got charge $$ one ma.. however, as the box up is too huge, it exceeded my common room 1 door.. View from living room.. the extra length of e 2nd beam is not too obvious when seen from far.. Boxed up beam Extra box up view from room Extra, but better than a long pipe running in the middle.. I wonder how my neighbours run their piping.. Is it as ugly, better or worse than ours?

bought a system 3 mitsubishi heavy industries aircon from Gain City and the aircon was installed last Tuesday... The aircon guys came at 10am and finish only at 8+pm! didnt know that it will take so long to install e aircon.. we upgrade e insulator to 1/2" n end up having a thicker piping bracket... super ugly!! Master Bedroom e piping run from e aircon ledge across my potential pole system wardrobe.. e clothes should b able to cover this unsightliness.. so nvm... up it goes n link to my aircon.. very ugly leh......... Common Room 1 Very short only.. Still acceptable.. Common Room 2 this one is e most unacceptable! so long n it even have a mini staircase! *faint* now having a headache to think of ways to cover the ugly pipings..... anyone have any ways to cover the ugly pipes? Help is very much appreciated!!
