  1. majority all done was quite surprised also when my contractor (actually is partner of the reno company) told me today that next week probably can finish. Inspected the things done, so far quality of the work's been up to mark so i dont foresee much problem also....finish early means i will have more time to slowly move things over my contractor recommended for my bedroom's platform to be below the height of the aircon trunking, and using side wall headboard to conceal the trunking and beautify.....one side of the recess wall's having tic tac door cabinet....two side quarter circle wooden platform on the recess wall for small tv and decorative items... full length wardrobe in my bedroom covering one side of the wall, which used to be the glass wall. suspended tv console with curved side aligned with the long sette. I was advised not to do feature wall to save money and the curved side of the tv console's also suggested by the contractor. ikea's mirror cabinet and accessories, installed with help of the workers
  2. Good day, Angel, today met up with my contractor and he told me that probably next week can more or less wrap up reno Zonk, Unfortunately that's a true fact. I guess no choice but to take calculated risk...
  3. sorry sorry for the misleading statement. I meant my agent advertised my house for sale in ST on sat and it was sold on sun and mon started viewing houses and signed otp on tuesday for the new house
  4. fast good mah, dont have to fret about the matter, very stressful. I advertised and sold my house in 2 days, viewed houses in 2 days and signed otp....everything done chop chop also.....but also that if come across nicer houses will be a bit heart itchy
  5. Finally, after days of frantic driving up and down, sungei kadut, ikea tampines, defu industrial estates, managed to get it from Toa Payoh Courts. Actually saw one piece at Lorenzo at IFC liked it very much but was told stocks come in only on March 09. Not even display set is available . Lucky thing decided to drop by Toa Payoh for a look and found what my wife and myself both liked. Dining table + 4 chairs + one long bench. Also purchased a pack of string curtain from AMK curtain shop for living room window. Tomorrow the lightings will be delivered. Things are picking up speed now.
  6. There are quite a number of websites, but i quite like this particular one: winkplay.com One of their retail outlet is east zing at marina sq....for customised ones you can email adrian@winkplay.com for quote. I am not affiliated to them, just that currently asking this adrian for quote for my glass wall. some of the kitchen glass door design on their website http://www.flickr.com/photos/winkplay/2563220449/
  7. liked your kitchen tiles, and the combination of your foyer tiles with the living room ones... kitchen glass doors can paste some nice wall stickers to beautify it
  8. cultured marble vanity top for common bathroom and platform for bedroom are up...
  9. I would think that its more worth it to let your appointed contractor do everything in a package, the important thing is read the threads and then compare their quote. Bargain if you think its too high. Commit only if you are really satisfied with that contractor. And dont rush to get things done...no harm going to more contractors for quotes to save you problems later on.
  10. Hi, not sure if you have already decided on your id or not... anyway, for a start its better you read thru the threads in this forum and take note of some good and bad ids....shortlist a few and go down to the company with your floor plan and have a no obligation discussion with them and get them to quote.... From the few quotes you have, then you slowly compare and decide. Probably you need to get them to re-quote if its out of your budget. Most important is not to be pressured to commit
  11. Hi Tommy, congratulations on moving in For the space in between the upper and lower kitchen cabinets (two sides of the stove), maybe can fix some rod on the wall to hang some accessories like cutlery holder, dish drainer etc....i just went ikea yesterday and grab some...sure can pick up some ideas from there Any pics of your concealed bomb shelter wall to show?
  12. maybe some agent dont deal direct with buyers? Also some of the houses posted for sale may have already been sold but not updated yet as from the date the otp is signed to 1st appointment to completion of the sale at 2nd appointment takes some time..... try this site also www.iproperty.com.sg. When i was searching to buy a house, day and night i was surfing lots of sites...will not list down all of them. You can try this site which i think is more comprehensive. the other one on hdb site is also quite good. Another thing is that agents they will share another database of all houses in sg on sale, which we buyer/sellers have no access. So just find a reliable agent to assist you, dont have to be too concerned about which agent having which house on hand.

  16. Finally renovation started on 26dec08. Nothing much done on that day, only took down some lightings, starting from dining hall lights, as directed by my FSM. All lightings have to be changed. Went down on 29dec08 for a look. Joven storage heater was delivered and lying in living hall waiting to be installed when time comes. All the light switches been changed to big button types. The long settee in my bedroom has been dismantled. The area will be re-constructed into a wardrobe. The false wall and cornice for the wardrobe's in place. According to my contractor, painting work will start on 30 dec 08. Will update more pics when i go down recce again.
  17. hi tydy, glad that the matter's been resolved. It may just been good that the deal's off cos now you may probably find more worthy deals. Important thing is dont rush...take your time to find a house that both you and you husband likes and is financial comfortable with. Most importantly get a trustworthy agent to represent you. Happy finding your new house
  18. Hi, sorry i didnt make myself clear, the 'blank cheque' i was referring to was the otp form that you signed without witnessing the agent writing down the agreed selling price. Cause next time if there's any discrepancies, you cant turn around and say that you signed, with the price column blank, and want dispute the price indicated on it.... You can still purchase the flat as a sole owner so long that you put your husband as "compulsory occupier". That means he's not contributing his cpf to the payment of the flat. I am a sole owner of this house which i bought 6 years back, when i was 27 years old. That time i added in my parents name as "compulsory occupier" and then changed it to my wife's name as "compulsory occupier" when i got married shortly after the purchase. For the above 35years single party purchase, that is if you are staying alone, not registering any of your kin as "complusory occupier" staying with you. So now you roughly get the picture what risk are there? You said you signed on the otp form, but have you signed on the exercising to purchase column? (Last page if i am not wrong). If so, then if the agent submit the document without your knowledge/agreement to hdb and hdb processed the application, then you want to abort it and claimed that its a fraudulent application, you may have a hard time proving it (that is you signed on the otp and exercised your purchase option, with the purchase price blank). The seller may sue you and if they are successful then you have to compensate. Even if you can prove that the agent frauded you, it will be a lengthly process. Dont get me wrong, i am not saying that the agent with fraud you. These are some of the possible risks. So, if you dont feel safe, call hdb and clear your doubts. Dont be led on a merry go around by the agent. Hope things go on smoothly for you.
  19. 1) never sign any blank cheque. You are putting yourself at unnecessary risk. 3) on the form itself, is your hubby's particulars written on it as a co-buyer? If its only your particulars listed as buyer and you already signed, then if i am not wrong, it can be processed as a sole buyer case??? Cause for my present resale(bought 6years ago), i am sole owner and my wife and parents are occupier. 4) Ask her dont talk rubbish. Deposit minimum $1 under HDB ruling....of cos no one put $1...5k thing is a standard for condo/private if i recall correctly. Your 1k deposit itself can be used to exercise the otp. If you dont feel safe, then call HDB clarify your doubts without delay. Also its a bad idea to use a common agent.
  20. buyer will have to pay to hdb right after the 1st appointment or within the 10days after it. There's a counter at hdb office 3rd level for payment. HDB will only release the money to seller after the completion of the sale. cov has nothing to do with the type of loan.
  21. Hi Hock, as i said, even if the police classify it as a criminal case, and the culprit is eventually duly punished under the law, you still have to get your own lawyer to initiate proceedings to try get your money back. A lawyer will be able to advise you on the options on hand and how best to proceed with your case. No harm spending a bit to get professional opinion. Its not a good idea at all to hold onto his ATM card. If anyone will transfer money to his account, he will be more anxious than you than to hand over the atm card to you, with all that money inside. Please try to return back to him or his family or to the police etc etc.....this is to prevent any malicious allegations from him...
  22. Hi, the one at suntec is buffet type...tim sum amongst other chinese dishes, price wise in the range of 30+ i think...was featured in the recent ch8 buffet programme...if you are not so particular then the dragon gate buffet should be able to satisfy. actually i still prefer ala carte type, still find peach garden nicer than those buffet types....there's a write up in ieatishootipost blog about it.....
  23. actually if can keep part of that living room wall tiles and make into a new retro feature wall also nice
