My present big question mark is if want to change kitchen sink, toiletbowl & washbasins, can I change within hacking anything? If so, call who? Plumber?
  2. hi. Congratulations on getting your new place. Can share with me who your contractor/s is/ are? I'm doing only housepainting, changing of lights fixtures, re-sanding/varnish of wooden floors, and maybe changing the kitchen sink, and bathrooms toilet bowls and washbasins. I haven't found anyone to do these small jobs.
  3. heehee ... first one here to congratulate you wah, your house very nice as it is, previous owner must have spent a bomb renovating. I feel very sayang to hack
  4. I just bought my flat recently. This is what I know. After you sign the Option To Purchase, the agent will submit to HDB for approval, and HDB will issue a date for first appointment. If the the seller has no problem with your OTP and agrees to submit rightaway, then it's faster, Sometimes, seller delays the submission of OTP, cos they are still looking for a place. You can find out from hdb website when is the earliest first apointment date you can get. http://services2.hdb.gov.sg/webapp/BB24APPT/WelcomeDate.jsp At the first appointment, if the seller is willing, you can ask for completion in 4 weeks. But if the seller is doing contra (meaning is concurrently buying from another seller, so there are 3 parties involved), the fastest is 6 weeks. Hope the above helps. Good luck
  5. great new haven v impressed by the photo effect too
  6. hv PM-d u.. it's not a secret, but I guess no need to let pple know if they don't want/need to know
  7. My present place building church extension right below, and these foreign workers are really hardworking, from daybreak into the night. My place also faces bus interchange, so 5.45am when the buses start rolling out, it is really noisy. To add on, I don't have aircon (landlord refuses to install), so no choice, have to leave windows slightly open. My last home was in a cul-de-sac, v quiet. First few months in this place, really beh-ta-han, got v little sleep. No more noise-tolerant. But am moving in a couple of months, hopefully it'll be quieter, tho there is still a big road downstairs.
  8. Bishan v nice place. My first choice, but no luck lah. COV $8K is very good deal. When I was flat-hunting there, everyone asked for $25K and above, but I was looking at the block 210 area (slightly newer I think). I almost put my $ down for 2 places, than 1 jacked COV up to $45k after valuation report came out, another 1 my friend said fengshui no good, cos living room can see front of MRT train, bedroom can see tail of MRT train. He said like train cut through the house. Looking forward to seeing the new look
  9. I'm v impressed. Great place u got, and you have selected some v nice add-ons. But wat impresses me more is 4 days after your second appointment, u are planning to move in. wow! My second appt over last Fri, but previous owners can hand over the place only after 4-5 weeks(renovating their new place). In the mean time, I'm renting a unit 1 lorong away. But I think it will take me another month or two before I move in. Can't get my act together that fast. Don't 'heartpain' about your COV lah, my COV $40k, also 4rm flat, but renovated 10 years ago. Condition v good cos I think wife doesn't work, no kids, so can clean house whole day. They only giving me the built-in stuff
  10. hello all. thanks for the warm welcome Previous owner had already converted the small room along common corridor into study room w glass & wood panelled doors, so I'm leaving it as it it. Long hall is great cos I can have very distinct dining and living area. Kitchen I want to replace the pendant light. I love this one, but it doesn't go with the look. This one goes better, but looks so old-fashion! I don't have many pictures of the the place. The last time I went, jus b4 the 2nd appt, I only took pictures of lights that I need to change. Living room lights before Change to
  11. yup. I house-hunted between Bishan & Toa Payoh for 3 months before settling for this apartment. Made an offer on the same day that I saw it. House is more than 20 years old, second owner has maintained it very well, so not planning to do anymore than change some light fittings and go over the house with a coat of paint. At least that's my current plan. Been looking at all the fab reno ideas posted here, and it's been very hard to resist the thought of doing a major overhaul
  12. hi hi. I've been reading all the blogs in here for a few months already, and finally got up the courage to be a member. I just got my place at Toa Payoh, third-hand, but not moving in yet, cos previous owner asked to extend their stay to reno their new place.
