yeah normally for example, if you tell them 20k, it will normally become higher 1. unless you are willing to take out some items. like 'wants' I also took out TV feature wall, L-Box etc. my wants is my laminate flooring, intially wanted homo tiles, but they are too ex for my budget. Maybe you can list down a list of needs and wants, then strike off those that you really dun need. then at least your wallet won't be too painful

Got leh, S&C furniture shop at AMK very good and resonable prices. i bought my wardrobe from there, and i think i saved about $300 on it!

Wah then it depends on your luck lor, which HDB officer they sent to you. my previous HDB officer bochap one, we went to downstairs to tok to our neighbours downstairs last time. then that fellow is mad 1!!! i still remembered he almost wanted to bang my door down, when we told him the HDB officer says, the pipe is chocked becoz of his 30 yrs never change plumbing pipe. then he dun believe and asked HDB to send him a letter. send letter oredi, then he ignore. HDB officer come 2nd time, he also nvr ans the door. dis pple huh...... U better have some goodies ready to stuff your neighbour's mouth first! keekeke

yeah you can call to HDB. they will ask their officer to access the problem and they will most probably check upstairs too. anyway, most old AMK flats are like dat. but your crystallied part, looks **** scary! better solve it quickly leh, or else next time you staying there, got problems.

Its okay leh merryman, becos dat time i also kiasu, i ordered my lights 3 mths in advance too! my recliner and some furniture ordered way way way in advance. u can just check with them, whether its okay and at no extra charges, to put at their warehse. should be okay

Restlezzsoul, i think you better increase your budget to least 10k to 12k more. becoz even if you engage a contractor, also not possible at 10k. okay, Laminate flooring already costs about a few k, plus skirting. somemore, it also depends on whether your storeroom is included or not. and wat brand you choose. What about for existing kitchen cabinet? do you need to dismantle? dismantle also another cost. your kitchen cabinet, at 30 feet easily costs about 3k. laminate flooring estimate also around 3.5k. you get the cheapest room door, the classic PD door, if you change all the 3 rooms, with supply of locksets and everything, 1 door cheapest you can get is at $300. so plus door and labour charges, at least $1.3 to $1.4k. You see, just doing a few things, estimation already close to $7.9k already. somemore havent add in other stuff. The L Box & False ceiling also dun come cheap nowadays. Your standard feature wall, if putting a 37" LCD TV, will easily set you back at another $1k at least. So what do you think now?

It all depends on how much your contractor is quoting. but for hacking, it normally costs much more then overlay. But last time we also got the same problem. overlay or hack? finally we decided on hacking, becoz our flat was built in the early 1970s. the contractor told us if we overlay will cause downstairs to leak water, and thus even worse in the long run. so we hack, and replaced it with new tiles. as for the pricing, i forgot how much liao. have to relook at the quotation again. but then if your is a new flat, i dun think overlay will have much problems.

Yes yes, you need permission to install CCTVs outside your flat, becos that small strip of space, we call common corridor dun belong to us. it belongs to Town COuncil. anything inside your house got problem you call HDB. dats how theyr differentiate. Actually if its a private property, like terrace or bungalow, then its different cases leh. u r toking about Joo Chiat Road sega iszit?
