  1. We don't mind of cos! Thanks for inviting us up and gave me a chance to 'catch' Uncle ard! Ur house is really nice! The pebble wash, the roof... and the ice-cube lights!
  2. zerochristy: Ya, becos SP only comes once every 2 mths, so the in-between mth's reading will be estimated. If the usage is pretty regular, then not much issue with the estimation. But for reno, water bills are generally higher (with all the tiling, washing and workers bathing/pipe leakage!) the estimated one will be based on this lor. Eg.. my reno mth was 23CuM and they estimated the following mth to be 27CuM, hence the difference. Then again, 23CuM is really a horrendous amt of water to use for reno. pinkpetter: Its not a big amt, but i also had some conflicts with StarHub billing, but in the end when they do adjustment they did in on the GST portion as well. Dun understand why SP cannot do it... A little dumb.
  3. ya ya! nowadays with internet, their biz can be greatly boost if they do a gd job! hope he manages to settle the rectifications for u nicely. Who knows ur "uncle" may also be the next hot man in renotalk.
  4. to share share... my house was also 12yrs old. So when i asked if i needed to do re-wiring, my contractor just torn open the casing and show me that the wire is still new and soft. Only if the wires are hard and seem to crack any moment, then u'll need to rewiring the entire house. i think for condo even better right? Since most of the electrical wires are concealed?
  5. Just got last mth's SP bills last night. so pissed off! Last mth was an estimated billing, so SP charged me 27.5CuM of water usage becos the previous mth i had a serious leak and the water bill came up to 23CuM. So this mth when they came to do the actual reading, the total usage was only 7CuM and they did a refund of the overcharged bill.... BUT....... I realised they didnt refund the GST! Although its just a couple of dollars, then again, refund shd refund everything, isn't it so? They just cheated me of the extra GST paid. Moral of the story... must vigilantly rembr to log in to record my own meter readings from now on...
  6. oh ya, one thing abt the light. is it on energy saving bulbs? The 2nd shop i saw this light told me can chge to energy saving bulbs. Dunno whether issit true or just tempting me to buy cos i say normal incandescent bulbs will kill my bills. I just got my SP bills last night, underestimated my electrical bill last mth and doubled on this mth's bill! I saw the robinson NO GST thing too!! Quick go quick go! btw, I bought 2 sets of bedsheet at the Expo J.Little sales 2 wks back, forgot the brand liao, but Jacquard cotton satin 400 thread count was going at $29 for a fitted set. Maybe u can go J.Little check out too. Metro also got homelinen fair... http://sg.offerstation.com/offers-promotio...linen-event.htm
  7. i think its really a typical contractor's standard to use PVC piping. I only bought 1 set of s/s pipings for MBR, common toilet they did a default PVC for me. Don't think Uncle is out to cheat you ba, if you really insist i'm sure even if its -ve profit for him he will also rectify for you. It's his reputation at stake.. since he knows we are all connected online! Perhaps if the hollow block wasnt there in the 1st place, then not so much problem. But anyway, just keep bugging him to chge it, i'm sure he'll manage to find a way out to solve things for u.
  8. hollow block.. not wonder your drainage hole looks kinda weird. I believe highly likely the case that u suspect - they place a PVC outlet from the wall to allow the L-pipe to connect to. The original drainage to form a proper L-shape drainage pipe must have been hidden in the hollow block, like tt you gotta hack the block to rectify the whole thing?
  9. i came in early morning to look at your lights again! Can i go your house n on/off the lights to drool more? No need to prepare bibs for us, won't be sufficient to contain our drools!
  10. WAhhh! He called! u gotta go buy 4d or toto liao. Haha! I need him to settle my outstanding too, but i dare not call him leh...
  11. Agree with the rest! the blue is a little overwhelming. So i guess its gonna go?
  12. gdness How come like that? u bought the s/s L-pipe for them to install right? Cos i rembr Uncle say that one i have to buy myself. Could it be because the drainage is to the wall instead of to the floor, so the plumber could turn the L-pipe into S-pipe and made do with this?
  13. ur lights were the ones that i was aiming for dining lights! Almost gave in when the 2nd shop i went to offered me half the price the 1st one offered. No budget, n no dining area, so end up nv buy. Now i can go ur house n drool at those lights...
  14. i think its officer dependent! my officer for resale also took ages to reply me on 2nd appt date... in fact... only replied 1wk before the actual 2nd appt after chasing her for weeks! Gah-men..... :bangwall:
  15. I missed your post. Nothing grossly wrong abt my TV console in MBR. But the laminates were sort of 'recommended' by Jason and i could only blame myself for not taking my time to pick. Ended up with a light color console amidst my dark-colored furnished MBR. Sticking out like a sore thumb now. Which is y my advise to you is to pick similar colors or patterns for the bedroom carpentry.. At least it looks more like a set. My s/s backing doesnt have any white silicon too. Think u ask them to re-do better? it looks kinda ugly and uneven.
  16. Yoyo n medicated oil can help? I'm not as serious case as pinkpetter, her allergy seems more jialat. No bleeding for me, just plenty of scratching. So put the yoyo before we jog or wat? I concluded that i'm allergic to the salt content, since tts the common thing between sweat and sea water. But after showering, my rashes will go away... so still not too bad. Recently just had a monster attacked (like tons of mozzie bites, red and swollen and itchy!) on my arm while sleeping and the doctor says no conclusion, most likely due to allergy from some insect bites. i sound so problematic... Have u read the buy-shirt story? That one is very funny too! I think they r a very funny pair of couple...
  17. :jawdrop: u too???? My allergy was bad during pri sch. somehow sec/jc days it got better, and my ECA was sports! Then after that was down the hill liao, go beach or sweat will itch, but heck it.. i still go anyway. I didnt expect u to say the same thing! I think our condition really rare leh.... I saw ur blog! Super funny! i wish i can sit there with the vase too.
  18. here here. Staying in tampines 200+ for 20yrs, bought my own house in 300+. I love this place, thou i hate the crowd in the malls on wkends.
  19. ok, angel/pet... i shall be happy for the day! Pet: i know what u mean! my aunt is allergic to detergent, so she cannot wash things without the rubber gloves. But then again she's allergic to rubber too! So end up always scratching her hands and legs. Gd leh... like tt ur love can get u a helper next time! For me, i'm allergic to my own sweat and dust. *sad*
  20. OK!! we got take pic at Manpuku liao mah. This time grab Fannie's cuties to take pics too! Yalor, i agree with Fannie. Aubrey, i dun think uncle bian xin lah, he also loves u enough to subsidise ur rental a little. Was just plain unexpected that Ah Mei gave him so much problem. Think of the better side, he changed him away for u!
  21. Actually the cost of curtains/blinds depends very much on the length of the roller blinds as well as the materials used. Eg, semi block generally cheaper than full block out materials... doing day+night curtains more ex also... etc. I did my 3 bedrooms - 2 roller blinds (windows with 4 panels) and full length day+night curtains for MBR @ $800. If i had choose a cheaper material it would bring the cost down quite a bit. Those interested can PM me for contacts. Alternatively my fren who used Ikea roller blinds says its working well for her for years. A cheaper alternative which some of u may wanna consider?
  22. That rings a bell! My mum will go "see lah, u too lazy, becos i pamper u too much..", then she goes "gd!! since its only $10/hr, better than u forever complaining and he (hubby) forever getting scolded by u!" But not so gd life like u, i must iron my own clothes. She only washes and folds them. I think u shd be able to handle! But the bigger question is.. how long. My threshold is 1mth after shifting in. So to sound a little more hardworking, i'm doing the housework on alternate saturdays when the helper doesnt come in.
  23. ahh?? Split to do his own reno biz? Not that i wanna be cynical, but i dun think Jason is 'there' yet lor..still far from uncle's standard.
  24. aubrey: same booklet but safe to choose the similar series. i think 1 page got a few colors with same pattern belonging to same series right? That was wat i saw in the one n only booklet i had that time. Mix too many diff laminate/color end up very messy, i'm regretting for my MBR TV console now...
  25. Hahahhahaha! sounds like me leh. That's why i'm having a big headache now. Getting married in 2mths time and my room is still in a mess. I dun pack unless absolute reason for me to do so. Jialat liao. Magic clean is like a saviour to all lazy pple. *hands up* So far so gd ba? Next session gonna trial her on cleaning windows n grills, hope she still maintains the standard? U also princess at home issit? Like tt must get smartie to get u a PT helper, else we will turn yellow-faced-wife!
