Dunno who's right or wrong, but heck it... take 1st then say. since my mum die die wun shift house one. I calculated the property tax yday.. .. must reimburse to seller on 2nd appt right? And i'm wondering how the 40% tax rebate announced yday gonna work for us. I only keeping windows n grills.. so will check for that. Ceiling looks fine. i think my current house ceiling even more terrible! haha! My unit is top level, so any leakage i'll complain to HDB! N thks for the compliments! The $20k came on 19th, then gone today with the rest of my $ in OA. Mixed feelings, happy that i'm one step closer to getting my house, sad i'm sooo much poorer in OA. in fact we also requested for earlier 2nd appt date cos seller leaving country for overseas studies. But the officer simply couldn't be bothered and looked like she haven been sleeping for days.. just brush us off saying that no promise, no date now n will inform us only later stage. ya! u r very lucky indeed! i went viewing at one of the units for the contractor's workmanship, i'm impressed that HDB actually conceal all the wirings and pipings! makes it look more 'condo-alike'..

u just reminded me! i haven login to my cpf today. also my daily routine to see when the account goes up (for the housing grant) ... and when it will get wiped out. Till date, still no diff. Other than my pathetic bonus pumping up a bit more in OA account.

Have been logging into HDB website everyday since 1st appt... n finally change of status! CPF also called up yday to check on some info for the Housing protection insurance. Anyone's got any advise on what r the checklist during the viewing prior to completion date? what should i be checking for?

its fine. one of the ID i spoken to told me to take the wardrobe from closetdesign, he's ok w it (of cos, so that his quote will meet my budget!). Times are bad, if they aren't happy u can always choose to go w another ID. I cant rembr whether r they giving me plywood or chipboard, but the 10yrs warranty is enough for me to exhaust the wardrobe. Their internal wood comes with ABS trimming, much better than the normal white laminates which will turn yellow. Pricing is abt the same as what normal carpenters quoted me.

no hood for your kitchen? i like the transform of ur kitchen, simple yet nice. No wall tiles also right? Btw, the original toilet floor is really original. Exact some flooring as my current house, which is also in its original state.

agree. thou my agent is very gd and efficient, but i'm still skeptical. it plays safe to be sorry! actually, i just went for the HDB resale seminar last wkend. Heard some stories abt the real life cases of early/late handover...pretty scary. I wouldn't wanna take the chance if i can, even thou how desperately i'm yearning to start my reno soon. don't pay your agent until the 2nd appt is completed! my agent also ask me to sign some form for invoice to be generated, n mention i'll be billed after 1st appt. But i told him straight i will only pay after 2nd appt, "wat if u run away then how?". he laughed n said ok lah ok lah. FYI, if u taking angel81's suggestion, i think u may have to ask the seller to sign the reno permit for you. Cos officially they are still the owner b4 2nd appt.

we bought 1 set when we were in BKK, cute n cheap but quality no so gd one lah. The other 3 was few wks back when Aussino had sales at his office's building. Cheaper at HK? then what was the winning factor that made you buy at PJ? i rembr Pinkpetter saying her parents insisted on 1-pc WC becos 2-pc will leak. But 2-pc WC crack can just chge part of it one ah? I don't see any shops selling 'part' of the WC leh.

After going thru' so many ID quotes and contractor quotes, we finally decided that our budget will fit more comfortably for contractor. Still trying to finalize the actual work we are gonna do, becos FH all of sudden decide to do up the kitchen floor/wall tiles and the common toilet. I think i backside itchy. Go thru so much trouble to take so many quotes n in the end, we are contemplating to go back to FH's uncle to renovate for us. Using all sub-cons.. much cheaper. His uncle's quoting us v much cheaper for carpentry and his lobangs for tiling/painting/plumbing are all giving us 自己人pricing. Very hard to resist... The most happy part: we bought our 1st 2 items for the house over the past weekend and today - Laundry system & our wardrobe! My personal experience: Laundry system Ezz* Living won our deal over Tam*, it was easy to decide - price, quality & attitude. We were seriously pissed with the uncle at Tam* who didn't even allowed us take another second to consider. Kept giving us the stuck up and 'they-cannot-afford-one-lah' face. We walked down further to the next exhibitor at Expo and placed our deposit straight away with EL. Closet Went to both Clos*tDesign and Clos*tRobe's showroom. Michael from CD was not pushy and comparatively Eugene from CR was trying too hard to sell, esp w his "M*diacorp Appreciation cert". We left his showroom n drove straight down to Expo to place the deposit w CD. Material wise both r just as gd - scratch/fire resistance, all shelving and drawers with ABS trimmings. Michael gave us a more sincere feel and due to some blunder made by his staff, we got a discount w some freebies thrown in. The initial quotation from CR seemed to be cheaper, but do not come with soft closing for the drawers and there's additional charges if we choose bi-fold door instead of sliding door. I've read of -ve comments on CD, but i'm taking the chance becos we feel really more comfortable w CD. Went to Nan Wah to see see look look at their sale items. Some 1-pc WC are selling real cheap.. <$200 i think. Cant rembr the pricing now. Very tempted to buy their kitchen sinks.. For $171.. For $225.. For $238.. But i cant decide if i should buy now or wait till 2nd appt over. Or should i get shiny or matt finishing sink..

ur reno is really really fast leh! why not wait till u finish cleaning then shift in? so messy and dusty how to sleep? still must say... i'm jealous that you complete ur reno so fast!!!
