merryman, i'm a little late n slow ... just managed to read thru ur posts. For the pipes.. i had the same across my living room as well. If you were to take a closer look at my b4 and after pics, i did a mini L-box to hide not only the water pipes but the gas pipe as well. I reckon that the trap dust will accumulate if i leave it bare, and i dun wanna climb up and wipe all the time, besides the aesthetics consideration. Hope this gives u some idea to play ard with. I dun think it is possible to 'shift' the pipe's position right? Anyway i agree with the rest its more impt to work within your budget now and dun vex over plastering. Do the basics 1st, then when u think its time to re-paint the house, can always couple in plastering then n there. Jiayou!

And i think plastering+s/s backing shd be cheaper than hacking n tiling. i think u can do something like oogachaga. I rembr she did plastering over the wall tiles and lay full stretch of S/S backing.. contractor used was Henry from Impress21. yalor... i had the impression that its more ex. That's why i dare not ask for glass backing but instead got a FOC piece of S/S for just the stove area. F4: u so cute! put big big disclaimer!

i think its pretty ex for a 3rm flat for this initial quotation. Esp when there's minimal carpentry apart from the kitchen cabinet. Can try to cut down like wat BD suggested, plaster instead of wall tiles in kitchen. I dun think u'll need to hack off the existing tiles, i read somewhere that the contractor will have to assess the tiles.. if not hollow can keep and plaster over. Little items like cleaning/installations of accessories, try to cut here n there, may add up to quite a lot. Find more quotations! Don't give up! 你行的！

Finally your HO! The little TV console in the MBR is very nice, together with the cave-in recess area. I also haven go thru customary and already happily sleeping on my bed (with approval from FIL), i couldnt resist a big bed lying in front of me! just kpo ah... wat item is this? sounds very ex to me. ur hacking looks expensive, not inclusive of living room/bedroom flooring? tiling for kitchen n toilet looks reasonable. As for ur PD door qn earlier, i'm using it and still would got for it as oppose to bi-fold doors. I like the slim profile when it opens. But would suggest that u get the PD door specialist to do it instead of contractor.
