  1. Cellini's combi deal went on for quite some time already. When i was shopping ard mths ago they also said the same thing to me "promo ending soon", but i do agree its a very gd deal!! See if u can get similar ones from S&C?
  2. very nice contractor u have! Appreciate his effort to really source out the nicest pink for ur floor tiles! i think 3&4 is a much better choice. Anyway with regards to white top, u'll just have to diligently ensure that there's no water will u leave anything on it. I almost stained my top with a pineapple. But luckily, there's CIF.. saviour for white tops!
  3. gd!! gotta ask him abt my keys! I hope he still has them..
  4. oh no! i was able to wish u have a safe trip over email. I think better not to take the risk since they found the 1st case in HK already? Unlikely to catch the flu bug, but its the hassle that the trip comes along with, esp for ur job! I think they shd be able to chge the tickets for u... but u wanna postpone till when? The swine flu situation doesnt seem to be getting better anytime soon...
  5. Went to Expo yday, crowd was crazy! Prices at HN was ok, but not fantastic. Q for Metro was longggg! I think Courts sale is at the Megastore itself? I just read the papers today, only the pickup point is at Expo MRT.
  6. i'm surprised by the compressor too! doesnt it gets too hot in the toilet? Anyway, finalised the reno list already?
  7. i'm not too sure if they did acid wash to my house. But the house was handed over very much cleaner than after-carpentry state. Every single drop of paint stain on the window & grills were cleaned and wiped, but there were some small drops of paint on the floor (near corners and carpentry) which i realised that they missed out only when i was mopping the floor. We like the Ah neh a lot, if i'm not wrong he's Ah Boy. Does a very thorough job in cleaning and painting touch ups.
  8. door i would chge. In fact uncle made them chge all my 5 kitchen drawers becos of either wrongly drilled holes or patched cracked lines. They chge 2 of the doors becos of uneven laminate as well.
  9. XBB: i think CD and CR's material is the same. CR's boss was the original brothers-pair owner from CD who split becos of conflicts. i dun like their way of doing biz (my case + my fren's encounter with them), but material wise i think its on par? Maybe will have to depend on the workmanship of assembling the wardrobe as well. I belong to anti-bottom track group, so i cannot comment on the anti-jump thingy, haha! Maybe fondue can help u with it?
  10. I think fondue's wardrobe is very well done up. u wanna check with uncle how much he charges for a similar one at 10ft? I took CD way b4 i found uncle, so didnt ask him to quote on wardrobe at all. As for CR, who did u liaise with? I spoke w Eugene at their showroom and found him very pushy. The initial price quoted was cheaper than CD, but no soft close no this no that, add up all in all will be higher priced than CD. Plus, he didnt even allowed us to go back n think abt it, wanted us to commit there n then in order for us to be entitled to his FOCs accessories (x01).
  11. i like ur living room! very modern industrial look. Vacuum and mop... then vacuum again. The fine dust cannot be picked up by sweeping. I've nvr in my entire life sweep floor till there's blister on my finger, n yet its still dusty.
  12. apples: Robin has a lot a lot of wallpaper for u to choose! U'll have to take a longgg time to choose. U r not alone, i always think that the coordination is a little messy.. haha! Thankfully mine came out fine in the end. Not to worry, the window film will not affect painting, there will be another round of touch up (or countless rounds of touchup cos i was picky on painting) after everything's completed. ivy: u r lucky!! can pop by ur house and surprise the workers during lunch time!
  13. wow! ur house looks like condo leh!
  14. i had my fair share of problems too, and at one point of the reno we were so down and hub even complain "how come our house forever got rectifications to do one?" I do agree that we had to coordinator a lot on our end, making sure things that we cannot compromise will be done nicely b4 the handover. Exhausted our annual leaves to make sure we go down as frequently as we can, even if we had to preserve leave for our wedding in a few mths time, i think this is essential on us as house owner. We also have been bugging Ah soon n Jason every single day with phonecalls in order to get our rectifications done. Then again, with this kinda of pricing, i do already have the mentality that things will not be 100% perfect. If we are willing to pay higher price in the 1st place, then we shd nvr have gone for Ah soon. I can list down 101 things that still 'can be improve' for my reno, but at the end of the day, as long as the end-product is not an eyesore to me, i'm willing to let go and have a better peace of mind. Then again, i do not mean that Ah soon's works r slipshod, its gd enough for me, with all the rectifications done after bugging them for weeks. It all boils down to one thing - our acceptable standard. Look at lawry, paid for ID services but wat did he get? ashes02, so paiseh to keep riding on ur t-blog, i hope ur feature wall gets rectify soon!
  15. familyof4 I have to chase Uncle on hacking too! haha! I'm still wondering now why they took 4 days to hack my 2 toilets + kitchen. Well, it will remain a mystery... Ended up having my deliveries postpone cos i cannot confirm my WC sizing b4 they completed hacking! I think its tiring but gd that u can monitor the progress of ur house closely, easier for them to rectify also! But xin ku ni le... gotta travel so far across the island.. Smallboy We called the wallpaper guy ourselves too. Aircon vendor also coordinate ourselves by checking with Uncle when can they come in. At least u have the luxury of going up everyday since u r not working, my hub gotta drive back from town to Tampines everyday lunch to catch the workers at work and tell them exactly wat to do, what to rectify. We were taking turns to take leave every now n then to make sure the impt stuff were done correctly right from the beginning. My tiles were almost lay wrongly, uncle rembr the design wrongly and happen that i was onsite that morning, the tiler could verify w me n do it correctly. Having said that, i think uncle's so busy also becos the price n quality that he delivers. I wouldnt dare to use someone that's so free to stay at my house whole day just to jaga the reno works too! its a tough journey, but given a 2nd choice i'll still use Uncle's services. Ur reno's coming to an end soon.. u shd be happier by then.
  16. ashes: ur bed is nice! I think ur Cellini package price is really very worthy.. if only i wasnt that particular abt the mattress they throw in. fully agree with you growler ! A price to pay for everything, likewise.. i think its only fair that we do our part in close monitoring with a little give n take in some situations.. in exchge for the much cheaper price tag that uncle gives as compared to other contractors. Uncle was kind enough to offer to help us get fittings at cheaper rate, offered to do coordination for citygas, but knowing how roaring gd his biz is, i think we rather do a little more to ease his load... help him to help ourselves. I believed that Pinkpetter has also highlighted this condition before she recommended all of us to uncle. anyway, i ended up coordinating Citygas myself too! Not a tough job.. just a few more phonecalls to make my life n uncle's life a little better.
  17. dun sian dun sian, its just a passing phase for a better home soon! Its gd that u get all ur details now, then when reno start u'll be happy that u've done ur research long ago! U mentioned u may wanna get CD to do the kitchen cabinets for u too right? Do they provide 3D? Maybe can ask them for the laminates for u to take a look n have a feel 1st.
  18. gd for u aubrey! finally signed on the dotted line, now u can look forward to the start... n then to shifting back to a newly renovated old house! I think Uncle's really nice to throw in BLUM for u. So envy... but i'm happy with my soft close since uncle threw in other FOCs for my miserable reno budget too, cannot be so picky liao. Anyway i realised i forgot to reply u on the WC thingy. Baron's flushing is quite ok, its the 1-pc package i bought at the Geylang shop recommended by Pinkpetter. Clayton half-flush is really weak, full flush still ok. As for soft close, i realised i dun really like it now that my Baron WC has it. Maybe becos i like to lift up the seat to jetspray the underneath of the cover every night, so its quite irritating for me when i have to 'wait' for the seat to slowly come back down.
  19. fannie, ur reno-list is really long! n $44k is really worth it... :good:
  20. Congrats YaOz, Ba0bEi! Coincidentally, we have a similar floorplan! Chging the common toilet opening is better for hygiene and space planning. Can now put the fridge at the original opening of the toilet. But do u cook often? Ur store room takes up quite a bit of space in ur kitchen, u may wanna consider top cabinets in case next time not enough storage space?
  21. not to worry preciousjam, i had similar problem with dark floor tiles in toilets too. Black for common toilet and dark grey for MBR toilet, both had the white stains. but just make sure after showering or any soapy washing, go thru again with another round of water to make sure the soapy part is not there, will be fine! Go with ur choice!!
  22. ya i agree with pinkpetter as well. I tot u said they didnt deliver in the 1st place? Then how come Ah soon has to be responsible for the missing items? It's a little confusing here...
  23. aubrey For WC, i took the cheapest Clayton WC for my common toilet and the flush was kinda weak, as compared to the Baron 1-pc WC i had in my MBR toilet.
  24. hihi! not pinkpetter, but to ans ur qn, they do hand-drawn 3D sketches. I suggest that u can look ard for the designs that u want, relate to your contractor and see if they drawn something out for u. I know most experienced contractors will be able to do that. One thing to note abt the trousers hanger for ur wardrobe, must take ur longest pants to measure wat is the height allowance u need from the floor. I did not had any prior experience and left it all to the designer, so scare my hub's long long pants will sweep the floor. Heng that is was just nice..
  25. familyof4 Nope. uncle nv mentioned abt it when he was speaking to hub over the phone the other day.. sad. i think my keys still gotta wait liao. pinkpetter yeah! that's the point. i'm not intending to pack, just put all in my bag and carry over bit by bit. Hopefully i end up buying more things at my new place b4 i managed to clear my current room. gongkia staying there officially now, and i dun wanna lugi so went over last night to bunk in with him!
