Glass Around Gas Range Countertop
jasoncassanova replied to jasoncassanova's topic in Living, Dining & Storage
practical in what way? -
i'm planning to place glass behind and on both sides of my cooking area, which means it would be around the countertop gas range to keep the moist, heat and spills within that area only. what kind of glass should i use and how thick should it be for it be safe near heat and fire?

thanks!

i'm sorry i don't understand this, is it because the 300mm x 300mm is bigger in size? or is it more flat?

anybody here had an experience in using this type of construction for outer walls? Pros and Cons?
-
yup! that is what i exactly mean, i've been checking out the pics in the internet and they seem durable, especially the one's used for shower enclosures. well my only experience with this was when i was taking up swimming lessons at a hotel pool, the showers they had in there had this kind of glass for their shower doors. the kids there were banging it upon closing the door like they were closing a wooden door and nothing happened

i doubt if they'll give way 'coz the table legs will be 4"x4" in circumference (i'm not sure about this size but it will be somewhat that thick for each leg) i'm imagining it will be like a chef's table with a built-in gas range stove

any experiences using glass door for walk-in showers? pros and cons? the pros that i can see here is that an enclosed area that usually gets wets is easier to clean and to maintain rather than having the whole bathroom sprayed with water or being affected by moist, the only cons that i know of is that glass can be quite dangerous for kids because it might get broken or shattered if not shut properly. care to clarify something to me about this?

well since the kitchen flooring is all tiles, i was thinking of not using any wheel type apparatus to move the table, the legs would just slide if moved from space to another.
-
what do you call that tile that is a bit rough that is mostly used in bathrooms? is it better in terms of durabilty and easier to clean compared to ceramic tile? they're mostly sold in 6"x6" sizes

we're having our house of more than 20 years renovated, my parents built the house from scratch and now it's my turn to make it new again. over the years i've realized a lot of practical means of making things easier to clean since i grew up cleaning the house most of the time, i had this idea that i'd make a big movable table type cooking area, the counter top will be granite with built-in gas range and since we use gas tanks here in the philippines the tank would be also under the table, hidden from view and will only be accesible with a sliding door. the reason i came up with this is because the gas range with built-in oven we have right now is just impossible to clean and since the gas tank can't be placed somewhere near the appliance it takes a lot of space, we eventually had a cabinet near it made for the gas tank to be hidden from view. plus it's hard to clean something that you just can't move easily, so my thoughts are it would be easier to clean it only had four legs and had enough room for broom or arms to clean the flooring beneath the cooking area. what do you guys think? any comments?
