leongheng, whats the color of the flooring,skirting if any and majority of the wall and ceiling? i recommend that u choose some contrasting colors for your frames. but having the frames in the same color of the door itself and skirting are basically the best visual thing to the eyes.

energy saving lights aka bulbs or whatever u call it can be arranged to create some different moods too. it is not ugly if u position it nicely according to their luminosity, making use of the 'pockets'. imagine creating pockets or dark n bright in approx 100-150mm all around the plaster ceiling, though best to have them inside, with sponge painted ceiling.

thr is this glass for windows that will 'fog' up using electricity, called crystalization. imagine from a clear glass to a totally frosted glass, but still translucent with bright white light passing through. it is quite new if im not mistaken. but i couldnt recall which supplier has it. my bad.
