Just wanna check whether we can add another air con unit in the 1st floor utility room when the roof of the balcony has been built by the previous owner. Appreciate your feedback.

Hi red_devil, Nice reno. Good idea to do the cabinets in the balcony in order to have more storage space.

My ID revised the quotation as we had 2 last minutes additional items (build a wall behind the toilet bowl as there is some distance to the wall & added a row of mosaic) for the 2nd level common bathroom, thus he also re-stated the contract that complete payment after he did the acid wash of the place. We requested for him to do the acid wash after we have completed the rest of the reno but he refused. He said that acid wash need to be done in order for us to check on the workmanship of the tiling and inspect the tiles and he could repair or touch up when needed, before he handed back the keys to us for the rest of the reno to be carried out by other contractors. In order to avoid being chase for payment every time, we paid off the rest of the balance. We just keep our fingers cross that he will do a good job for my kitchen cabinets and the rest of the toilets fitting.

The contract stated that the final payment upon completion of renovation works. My ID keeps telling us to pay up the rest over and over again, like afraid we will run off and not pay up.

I will try to upload more reno pic when I'm less busy with work. Here is the rest of my reno schedule: Tuesday 15 Dec, the the air con contractor will access the air-con location. Thursday 17 Dec, the air con contractor will dismantle the old air-con and re-run the air con piping (estimated job completion 1 day) Friday 18 Dec, the ceiling contractor will do the electrical re-wiring and false ceiling (estimated job completion 1 or 1.5 week). Wednesday 23 Dec, once the kitchen false ceiling is done, my ID will take measurement for the kitchen cabinets. Monday 28 Dec, the window+grill+gate supplier will dismantle all windows + install new windows + grills (estimated job completion 1-2 days) and take measurement for the main gate. Monday 4 Jan, the parquet contractor will lay the parquet for the 3 bedrooms + recess area in front of the bedrooms and follow by floor board for the stairs. (estimated job completion 2-3 days) Monday 4 Jan, the blind supplier will take measurement. Monday 4 Jan, the tempered glass supplier will take measurement. Monday 4 Jan, the carpenter will take measurement for the TV shelve + master bedroom wardrobe + shoes cabinets + study room cabinets + customize table (we haven't source for carpenter yet) Thursday 7 Jan, the painter will paint the whole house. (estimated job completion 2 days) Monday 11 Jan, my ID will fix the kitchen cabinets as well as the toilet fittings. (estimated job completion 1 day) Monday 18 Jan, the parquet contractor will polish the parquet. (estimated job completion 1 day) Monday 18 Jan, the air con contractor will install the air con Tuesday 19 Jan, the blind supplier will install all blinds. Tuesday 19 Jan, the tempered glass supplier will install all 3 toilets tempered glass doors + shower screens, tempered glass door between living room and balcony, tempered glass partition + door between study room and dinning room + tempered glass in front of kitchen stoves. Tuesday 19 Jan, the carpenter will install TV shelve + master bedroom wardrobe + shoes cabinets + study room cabinets + customize table Tuesday 19 Jan, the window+grill+gate supplier will install the new gate. Tuesday 19 Jan, the door supplier will install new fire-rated door. Hopefully everything goes on time for us to move in before end of Jan.

Hi, The tiling work for the 3 toilets, living room, kitchen and balcony are almost done. We will meet the ID next Tuesday for tiling inspection thereafter hand over the place for us to engage and coordinate with other contractors on the rest of the reno. The only thing pending on the ID is the installation of Kitchen cabinets and toilet fitting. However, he asked us to pay up the rest of the reno balance. I'm not sure whether that is the usual practice as I always thought that we only paid up the remaining balance of 10% upon completion.

Welcome to RT. Definitely good idea to get basin with cabinets... how I wish I think of that earlier... can save $$$

As I bought all my Bosch home appliances, so bargain a bit here and there everything round off $8k with free delivery not restricted how many times + free cooking class for spending more than $3k on Bosch appliances... Hi charemme, My mum in law refused for my husky to stay at their place so every month I need to come out boarding expenses... Estimated I should be able to move in by the end of Jan, so my husky got to stay in boarding for another 2 months +..

Hehehe... no where to talk about my unhappy experience with my reno so start my own reno thread... Talk about the 3D artist impression design... my ID only show us on his computer and didn't gave us the softcopy.. I'm not sure these ID automatically gave their client the softcopy 3D drawing or client got to ask for it... Will share the home appliances shortly after I check my invoice for model number.

Hi Yuen2, I remember you. I am engaging your recommended false ceiling contractor to do the re-wiring and false ceiling for my place. She is very helpful. She knows that I am having unpleasant reno experience with my ID, so she is helping to source for other contractor to do the remaining of my place. So sorry to hear that the other part of your reno didn't go well... 7 weeks is definitely sufficient for carpentry work... workmanship sound really terrible leh... definitely must make noise and get the contractor to correct them at no additional cost. Perhaps you don't pay the remaining balance until they did a proper job.

I also where I should hang my laundry, my EM balcony got roof liao and my kitchen is open concept, so area cannot have hanging bamboo poles. I think most likely hang my laundry along the corridor when I'm at home... hehe My husky is currently being board at those kennel in Pasir Ris farm and I'm quite worried she cannot get along with my other 2 dogs as they haven't seen one another for more than 6 months.

Read your reno blog, mine is also a contra case, my seller paid me 1 month rent to extend their stay for 1 month in order for them to reno their 5 room hdb. Ya lor my ID doesn't allow anyone to work on the house when he is working on it, so the rest of my reno can only do after he has completed. Wish you have a smooth reno...

Hi purplesky, Thanks for sharing... Wow Nov 08 till now not completed with the reno hand over... that is toooooo much.... I can fully understand your stress... I am also worried that I might experience same situation as yours... as my new place is in the east but my work place is in the west (hb even though his company is in the east, he is station in the west most of the time) it is really tough for us to drop by as and when unless we have to take leave... I really how I can manage this monitoring all the time, as we can only drop by on Sat to see... Well, wish you all the best too for your reno and hope everything can settle ASAP.

Even though I already tried my best to go with the minimal with this ID...but I felt 34K damage overall... he still carrot chop me a lot... very heartache... I also dare not select very expensive tiles, knowing that I need to top up a lot more if I did, so the most expensive tiles I selected is $3.2 psf for my living room... and thes rest is either $2.3 or $2.5 psf How to walk my 3 dogs? my hb holds the husky and I hole the 2 small ones...

Ya lor... the most angry part was he said that he quoted 10% more expensive just in case my windows are bigger than other EM but after he did the measurement, price also didn't become very much cheaper. He said that he has 18 years experience in renovation, in my heart how come with his 18 years experience he can't do a very close estimation...
