  1. i view your unit during my house-hunting process ...the owner is an old lady right? Your t-blog is the 1st one I visited when I discover renotalk. But sadly, u haven't post new pictures for such a long time. Did you let the previous owner stay on beyond the completion date? Not only is it cheaper...I feel that it give a more modern look to the kitchen. Nowadays alot of condos also comes with screed kitchen wall. But my mum kept asking me why I dont wanna put wall tiles...she worry whether its difficult to clean, whether the cabinet will be secured etc etc maybe I should just hint to her about my budget constraint
  2. Is your unit on the 4th floor? Can see playground from the living room rite?
  3. It is not just the IDs that is into modern style, even the furniture makers are following the same trend. I have a hard time trying to find a 'non-modern style' TV console. Anyway, good luck for your reno. Look forward to your 3D designs
  4. i thought of applying for the flats in your area also but my other half strong opposed bacause she find jurong intercharge super crowded. Since you are getting an ID, slant wall shouldn't be a big problem. I see alot of fellow forumers with the same layout as you having great designs.
  5. Hacking in progress Common toilet Skirting removed for all rooms Demolish wall between MBR and kitchen. A new wall will be built furthur out to extend MBR i havent give up on the green mosaic...still racking my brain how i can incorporate it into other parts of my flat
  6. Congrats very nice layout...I see that your balcony window has an interesting shape
  7. I decided to have black glossy wall tile for the area between my top and bottom cabinet. Initial plan was to cover that area with a glass backsplash but my contractor warn me that fumes may seep thru and trap between glass and wall. Then I though of putting mosaic. I found this green mosaic which I like very much. Make the kitchen look brighter. But I feel that it doesn't match the cabinet (woodgrain laminate) that my wtb selects. So I end up choosing homogeneous wall tiles as it is easier to maintain. The tiles are 600 x 600mm to minimised the lines and I choose glossy tiles so that it resembles glass when u see from far.
  8. Yup, I will have light color homogeneous tiles with wood skirting for my living room and laminates for all bedrooms. Kitchen floor tiles will also be changed but i will have the kitchen walls screed smooth instead of having wall tiles. Maybe I should get a system2 also but I am afraid I cant stand the heat...haha Just have to wait and see what ideas my contractor have.
  9. More pictures of my flat at its original condition... Main Door, the door on the right leads to the storeroom. Bedroom2: Future study Bedroom3: Extra room Living room view from Kitchen View of living room and kitchen from balcony Hacking works shd be completed by today...I need to call my contractor later to ensure that all the neccessary works are done. I have taken some post-hacking photos yesterday. Will inspect my flat tomorrow morning and take more photos.
  10. thanks...when I 1st found out about floorplanner, I spent days fiddling with my layout. hope the final product will be just as good. i see that u hv purchased most of your home appliances...any recommendations where I can find good bargains?
  11. Yah, this is one of my concern also. I am thinking of letting the trunking run thru my MBR toilet then along the MBR/kitchen wall. My contractor will ask his aircon installation guy to go down and take a look first, hopefully he will have some neat way of running the trunking. Worst case senario, I will just have to install a sperate aircon unit onto the sliding window.
  12. wah...625K...that is a really high price, but well worth it considering the location, size and layout. your layout is exactly the same as my future in-laws flat in cck. But their valuation is only half of yours. When it comes to property price, it's all about location. congrats on your new hm. Your MBR is bigger that most people's living room
  13. Oh! it's a rack for storing all my barang barang. You shd also try the "floorplanner" if you're not engaging an ID. The new version has a 3-D function which let u better visualise your ideas. Now my wtb and I are having a headache deciding on which brand to choose for our appliances especially hob & hood...must be cheap & good...haha
  14. wah...ur flat is really hugh...is it 5-rm or EA??? Have u consider tearing down the kitchen wall and placing an island cabinet like a dry kitchen? Any structural wall in the way?
  15. I already found a contractor to take care of all the renovation works. It was a recommendation from my friend. His workmanship is good and his price is much lower than ID. Initially, I spoke to a few IDs during an exhibition at expo but their quotes are in the 50K range (exc. hidden cost) which is way over my budget of 35K. Their ideas are also more or less the same. So I decide to be my own designer since I have great interest in space planning and interior design. Here is my proposed layout...
  16. thanks, we like the layout the moment we step into the unit and it is almost as big as the new BTO 5-rm.
  17. Here are some photos of the flat in its original condition... Common Toilet Kitchen Its a 20yr flat so I will be giving the it a major overhaul. Everything u see in the photos will be demolished!!! More pictures... MBR
  18. There are flats with similar layout in pasir ris and boon lay. Actually, the balcony is an "internal balcony". Only the flat side is facing outside. Anyway, I will remove the doors and combine it with the living room. As for the kitchen, a half-wall will be constructed with a glass panel on top.
  19. Hi, I was introduced to this forum by my wife to be about 1 mth ago. The renovation for my unit just started last week so I decided to post some images here to share ideas but most importantly, to update my wtb on the progress since she cant visit our new flat as frequent as me. Here is the layout of my flat.
