  2. I don't know which is better but it seems that most IDs use Supreme. btw, my contractor gave me power dekor laminate flooring.
  3. I happen to have the half wall + glass combi...haha havent update my t-blog since dec...
  4. I agree but putting the dining table in the living room will be abit cram. How about building a wall or glass partition to seperate the current kitchen into 2 portion?
  5. Remember to check with your contractor on the payment terms. My contractor didn't ask for any payment at the start of the reno. He said that in recent years, alot of contractors disappear after collecting the initial payment. So he will only collect $$$ from me based on the progress of the reno. I just make the 1st payment this week which is already the 3rd week of my reno. The amount is slightly less than half of the estimated total cost.
  6. New updates Cover & concealment - The aircon bracket is really disgusting, the wooden board is rotten and has lots of holes. yucks Half-height wall at kitchen - Notice the groove for inserting the tempered glass panel??? Close-up view of wall. There is a strip of PVC lining the top and side edges of the wall. Contractor says that with this PVC lining, wall won't chip-off so easily if u accidentally hit the edges. MBR extension completed Yesterday, we went to select our toilet bowl & basin. Not many choices available so we just select something simple and not too expensive. Anybody heard the brand 'Baron' before...is it good???
  7. The hacking works shd be completed by now rite. What are the works u intend to do? Any 3D drawings to look at???
  8. u may want to check out series 7 also. Price slightly higher, comes with content library. Almost the same as series 6. I will re-visit some of the blogs to check out the details...didnt really pay attention to the lightings then
  9. Series 6, 40" - $1950 nett forgo free gifts. Price can be reduced furthur but I didn't bargain since they gave me a good discount for the fridge.
  10. Bought the following items during my weekend shopping spree. Went to the highly aclaimed Poh Joo on sat to source for cooker hob and hood. The choice is between Hobs and Cuizino as both are within my budget but I decide to go for the latter because of its telescopic retractable hood. When not in use, the hood is flush with the upper cabinet...so I won't knock my head! Sunday afternoon was spent at katong mall checking out the price for samsung LCD. The shop assistant tried to promote sharp and hitachi LCD TV to us and even did some demo to show us the difference between 50Mhz & 100 Mhz, hard & soft panels etc... But frankly, I really can't tell the difference so we made our decision based on something we can 'see'... final choice still goes to samsung for its aesthetics Fridge and washing machine are much easier - Sharp fridge for aesthetical reasons again and LG wm because it is cheap...heehee Total damage - almost 3.7K. Really siong on my pocket especially when I count the $$$ I have spent since sigining the OTP Anyway, glad to have settle some of those 'must have' items. We will shop for lightings this sat...have slight idea what kind of lightings we want but not sure about the prices. Worry that we will get 'chop' by the shops because we don't know the market rate and we are 'thin skin' types who can't bargain well.
  11. Initially, I thou the window have to be either infront or behind the railing because I never expect that it can be removed. I was very surprise and glad when I found that they have been removed Hope to see your 3D drawings and reno progress soon!!!
  12. The pipe will be covered by false ceiling in my living room and L-box in the dining to save abit of cost.
  13. Thanks for your suggestion. I did consider this idea before but decide against it because it involve too much hacking and reconstructing of walls. Then my SCV cable, wires etc will all need to be extended or re-wire. Most importantly, we still prefer to have 3 'full size' bedrooms.
  14. Oh, my contractor just saw off the metal railing at the balcony window! Look so much nicer without it. BTW, this how it looks after sealing up the vents above the doors. Hi pinkpetter, notice the gas pipe above the doors?
  15. Yup, old unit really have alot to cover and conceal...there is a gas pipe running above my storeroom, bedroom and MBR doors. Since my kitchen is situated away from the main door, the pipe has to travel a long way We like the new windows very much ...especially the balcony portion. Havent think of how to utilize that small area.
  16. Reno progress: Most significant change is that new windows have been installed. Quite surprise by their efficiency...I comfirm the color only on monday and on friday, all windows installed. Balcony window casement - cannot do sliding due to the angle. The ugly pipe will be boxed up. Balcony sliding window Living room - the glass has a slight brown tint. Wanted to save some $$$ initially by keeping the old windows but they were in quite bad condition, very difficult to slid them The new ones feel so good and they are so smooth when u slid them. MBR toilet - floor tiles completed, toilet bowl & basin will be installed on coming tuesday
  17. This moning I heard on the radio that there is an electronics sale at Suntec during this weekend. But not sure about the details
  18. Yah, we removed the wooden vents and replace with bricks but I am not sure about the cost because it is bundle with the construction of the other walls. My contractor quote us $120 to cover the drainage pipe at balcony and another $120 to cover the water pipe that runs from the staircase to the toilets via the BR2 & MBR just above the windows. There is a gas pipe running from the main door to the kitchen passing above the doors of BR2 & MBR. Lots of things to cover and conceal Good luck with your bargaining... glass backsplash is very popular now because most ID will recommand it. If your family is not those "zhi cha" type who cook with strong fire then I think u can try try. My wife and I just want to play safe...heehee Will you be using induction hob?
  19. Pls look at my post #28 on page1 for the answer So u comfirm your ID already?
  20. The kitchen walls will be screed smooth
  21. More updates... MBR toilet tiles are up...the toilet bowl will be placed in front of the brown strip beside the pipe. Original MBR enterence sealed New MBR wall just partially built...progress abit slow Last night, Contractor gave me quote for the following additional works: - false ceiling to hide SCV cable, gas pipe and wires. $280 - L-box at MBR and dining to cover aircon trunking. $250 - L-box **** room to cover gas pipe. $120 - Cover water pipe at balcony. $120 Total damage - $770
  22. Hi bubble-ling, your samsung 40' LCD TV is which series, 5 or 6? I will be getting one also...prefer samsung and sony but sony too expensive liao.
  23. After much consideration, I finally decide to go for bronze windows with slightly tinted black glass like those from new HDB flats. Just hope that it won't turn out to be a disaster.
  24. Yah, homo tiles no need. My contractor says that the tiles need to be socked in water to allow the air bubble inside to escape. He even did a demo to illustrate his point. Actually, I don't quite understand lah...but he can do whatever he wants as long as the tiles are lay properly.
  25. Don't worry too much lah, just bring your ID/contractor and electrician to your new place and let them provide you with as many alternatives as possible. Your brother must be really tall...with size 14 shoes. He can place his shoes outside cos its unlikely they will be stolen. How about having 3-4 flat lower racks at the bottom to let your bro and dad place their shoes. Instead of placing them straight in, can put their shoes at 90 degrees (side ways). The upper racks will be tilted and reserve for the ladies.
