hey Metalsubzero, I got a quote from Ling Rezt and Relax. She did give me the quote plus nicely file in a plastic folder. But same experience as you, her quote was really really expensive. She quoted me $40K+ and alot of things not included, while Ah Soon quoted me only $35K and everything included. we all know that ah soon's package comes with aeroplanes, the next time you meet him, no need to rush back one. he'll usually be 1-2hours late. hahah

I went browsing for TV console, thinking, if I can get one ready made one that looks decent, I may not need to fabricate. In the end... didn't get TV console, ended up getting a sofa set. Original plan was to make new set of covers of existing sofa which will cost us $800, but we when lay our eyes on this set of sofa and hop on it to try wahhh... so comfy.. very hard to resist What we love about this set of sofa is, the L side is a recliner! There is a control for you to adjust the ht of the recliner electronically. The whole sofa set can also be pull out and act as a sofa bed. We laid on it wahhh shiok leh!! lay there watch TV! Plus it satisfied my fetish for storage!! There are storage space below. When We recline the recliner upwards, below it is a storage, if we put down the back rest, under it is storage!! yahoo!! hi zonkkie, the hafary one and sin lek one is different. they look similar but when u put both together and compare them side by side the difference will be very obvious. I visited LSH and Hafary right after Sin Lek and thought that i got a steak deal when I saw the similar tile, but when i took out the sample from Sin Lek to compare, the difference is great. The sin lek one looks much nicer and less metalic. Thickness also different, that's why uncle ah soon just take one look and he can tell : wahh the tile u holding very expensive one hahaha. hi zonkkie post ur pics leh. if sin lek one is off my budget then maybe i'll take the alternative

I HOPE i can get that!! it depends on what is the add on that I have to pay!! Ah soon not yet get back to me on the top up for that tile and instead of tiling all 4 walls with that tile I am cutting down to just 2 walls and match the other 2 with normal grey tiles. If top up is too much i may have to give it up too. It's sooooo pretty right!!! that is the only piece of tile that really impress me at sin lek!!

ashh i think the almost $10 u see is from sin lek right? I choose a piece from sin lek that cost $9.50. i wanted it for the whole wall of my MBR, ah soon's eyes nearly pop out. hahahah. He told me just buying tiles alone will cost $1K+ if i doing the whole toilet wall with that tile... so now i cut to have the toilet wall and told him i am willing to top up.. see how then.,

cos came back late lor.. went to the eunos unt at 10+ after that go supper come home bath etc 1am liao... we meeting jason on sunday to do the drawings thus gotta do more research before meeting him mah

To add on, in my own opinion, if you were to compare the various 3Ds provided by the different IDs, they look more or less the same and alot of duplication. I've read in one of the thread in this forum that 2 owners end up with similar 3Ds, can't remember the name of the thread though. Thus if owner already have rough ideas, done research and have pictures of what they have in mind, it is pretty safe to do without 3D. of course as u highlighted, there is always some risk that what u expected might be different from the outcome. For those using uncle ah soon, I believe we are all prepared to go without the 3Ds and save the sum of money to do other works. Quite a number of ah soon's customers are willing to open house to let others view his workmanship. Thus that is the confidence level that they have in him. I've viewed 3 units done by him, the latest was a unit in Eunos which I visited last night. I won't say workmanship is the best, but it is good enough for me at the price that he quoted. Hope we did help you address your concern

Don't get intimidated by them. I approached quite a number of IDs before I settled for a contractor. If you want I can PM you 3 of the IDs that I spoke to whom I feel they are quite sincere and pricing ok among the IDs. I ended up choosing the contractor cos his quote is the lowest and workmanship is at a level that is acceptable to me. PM me if u want the IDs no.

if you have not gotten ur contractor, you may wanna try the one i am engagin. He is very popular now cos of his good quote and responsibility. PM me if u want the contact.

i like ur TV console. How much did you pay for it?? if it is cheaper to buy then to fabricate, I may consider just buying one.
