If you are installing new cables, should go for Cat6 rather than Cat5. The cost of each network point is not expensive but I am not sure of the labour cost to install. You can check with Opennet.

I bought Belden Cat6 cables from LHS at $214 (inclusive of GST) for 300 metres. I think if you don't need so much cables, a few forumers can share the cost. Belden is supposed to be a reputable brand. According to Robert Lee, the boss at LHS, he said that contractor can bend the Belden Cat6 cables without losing transmission. For 2 Gang AMP Cat6 faceplate, inclusive of the "switch" to connect the Cat6 cables inside the faceplate is $18.75 (inclusive of GST) each. AMP is a very reputable brand and I have positive experience using the Cat6 faceplate. Can also get from LHS at Sim Lim Tower, level 2. Cheers!

I like to read your blog. Very humourous. Good to see that you are now buying stuff to install in your house.

Serangoon Central
leechaorui replied to wever's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
If you feel that Lor Lew Lian is a good place, go ahead to buy a unit there. You are right that the units there are quite big. Cheers! -
That's a good offer. How much does a cylinder of shell gas cost?

Welcome to RT. Looks good on the design plan. Hope to see more pictures soon.

Serangoon Central
leechaorui replied to wever's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
Serangoon central is a good location, very convenient as this is the major MRT hub with circle line and the Nex Shopping Mall is just nearby. Besides that, Serangoon Swimming Complex is about one or two bus stops away of which walking from serangoon central takes only about 10 to 15 minutes. I think the higher price is justified for that area. If you want something cheaper, buy a place that is slightly furher away (eg. 2 bus stops away) at Serangoon Ave 4. Cheers! -
In general, I think pax wardrobe will cost less than a customized wardrobe. Having said that, I saw some pax wardrobes such as the pole system wardrobe at Ikea which are good and inexpensive. If you have specific requirements on size, materials and design of your wardrobe, then customized will be able to build to your wish. The cost of the wardrobe will vary according to your requirements. In terms of price, if your requirements are not very high, the difference in price could be about 20% to 30%.

You may want to install points in your bedrooms too. Hence, you probably need to run more than one point.

Water Repellent Coating Vs Waterproofing
leechaorui replied to simplez's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
I am using Quicseal for waterproofing. You can google and read more about it. Looks like a good product but I have not personally tested it. -
I am considering to get Crizto WC, though one expert forumer advised against it. I am planning to get Crizto WC because it is a Singapore Brand product and I want to support our local businesses (ie I know that they manufacture in China). However, I will be very hesitant to get Crizto WC if the quality is poor eg. WC leak. If possible, can you provide more details such as the cause of the leakage. Thanks.

Conceal Of Electrical Wirings After Hack
leechaorui replied to simlim's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
My contractor told me that my concealed wiring is covered by a trunking pipe inside the wall. This means that if the powerpoint fails, all I have to do is to pull out the wires from the false ceiling and then push in new wire. If this is true, then there is no need to worry about "ugly trunking" which I personally feel is okay. -

Your reno is progressing very well. Looks very nice. Will you be installing CAT6 cables in your house?
-
Can understand how you felt. I encountered similar things with KDK ceiling exhaust fan. The exhaust fan needs ducting to transfer the hot air out of the house but KDK do not sell them.

I would like a YDM4109 lock but the installation can only be done sometime in September/ October. Thanks.

Very nice layout and design.

Should I Pay My Buyer's Agent The Commission?
leechaorui replied to pinkmooi's topic in Rent/Sell Properties
You may want to start a separate thread to seek advice from forumers. Who is Laeeque Ahmed? -
You may want to get the contractor who built the wall to help you check out on the water seepage. The seepage might not be through the wall. If it is through the wall, I think you may either need to rebuild the wall or water proof the wall. If you are using solid brick wall, I doubt that there will be seepage through the wall.

My neigbhour has came to my unit to complain that the baby in my house cried loudly at night resulting in their difficulty to sleep. Don't know what to do to help them. I think at that time, the baby had persistent stomach ache and my neighbour is a light sleeper so it was quite difficult to manage their expectations. Anyway, I am glad that I have moved out so that my neighbour can have a peace of mind. One solution is to move to landed property preferably bungalow so that there will be less risk of disturbing neighbours.

Hansgrohe/grohe/toto Vs Non-branded Bathroom Items
leechaorui replied to Hamster06's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
I am thinking of getting all my bathroom accessories from Lite Fusion which carries mostly Singapore brand products. I want to support Singapore industry and at the same time, is concern about horror stories of leaking problem from taps, etc... I used kacham puteh brand taps before. I am okay with the feel of how it works, but after 2 years they all started leaking. Very jialat and it was quite painful to deal with such situations. Any advice?
