  1. Congras to your purchase of the new flat. Very nice reno. Hope everything will turn out as you have planned. Cheers!
  2. Hi everyone, I would like to find out whether anyone has tried planting a tree within the house? My place is a 3.5 storey landed house that has a skylight roof. There is a void area from the second floor to the ceiling of the 4th level where it reaches the skylight roof glass. I am comtemplating the idea of planting a tree in a large size flower pot. The height available for the tree to grow is more than 10 metres (my estimate is about 12 metres). My questions are: a. Can a tree be planted in an area where there is sunlight but no rain (I could water the tree). b. What type of tree is suitable? (Prefer those that doesn't drop a lot of leaves and preferably has thin stem.) c. What are the pros and cons of planting a tree within the house? d. Would you plant a tree in the house if your place has the height and skylight to bring in the sunlight? e. Would parquet flooring be able to stand the weight of the flower pot? < I can still opt for the area to place the flower pot be tile up. If tile up, what type of tile will match the parquet flooring around it? The second floor area is actually the side living room on the second floor near the stairs. > Appreciate your comments and views.
  3. Hi Valkimer, I am no guru. I think it depends on your taste and design. I have seen in design magazine of different toilet wall such as tile, cement screed and exposed red brick toilet wall. Cheers!
  4. Yes, the electrical wiring including cat 6 cabling will be completed by end of next week. Brick works should also be completed by end of next week. The meter box has already been set up. However, my contractor has not started on the external works. The external works comprised of widening the frontage of my house and bringing in the main water and electrical supply. Opennet has just delayed the laying of cables by another 2 months. If they keep to their word, opennet can be layed by October 2010. Agree with you that lady Pinktini is a very intelligent woman. However, not sure about the causality between diet to feed kids and becoming a genius like Pinktini. Anyway, have a good weekend.

  12. Good to see that your contractor is so efficient and there is much progress to your A&A work. I applied for my permit by sending to SP something like 1.5 months ago and until now, nothing heard. Anyway, my construction will not be completed until probably October. Will get to see the pictures of your new house sooner.

  19. You can try buying some reno books or read them from the national library. There are good ideas that you can adopt and adapt for your house. When you want to think about lights, you may also start to think about electrical wiring, switches, etc... When you buy lights, you can get the light supplier to help you fix the light for you. Cheers!

  21. Welcome to RT. Wish you a smooth reno journey.
  22. It depends on whether the termite colony has been totally exterminated. You can check on the price on the price of replacing the affected parts & re-sanding the parquet and the cost of re-installing everything new. If the cost difference is small, you may want to do a replacement. Besides replacing with parquet, you may want to consider using bamboo strips or change to tiles. There are pros and cons to each choice. Cheers!
