  1. no la, cos my ID previously also proposed that to us and I saw prettibride did it and she's the only one in the forum doing the glass railings. we cross out ID's idea the minute we saw the quotation (expensive hor) cos of safety, not very practical when we forsee the cleaning part plus got kids in the house. nice ticker u have there. btw, u just went for 1st appt right? COV paid on 1st appt? What other misc fees u paid in cash ar? I totally cant recall as bro in law just bought 5-room resale in SK.
  2. actually, cooking at home can save leh. Plus cooking at home also allow us to decide what type of ingredients we want to use (usually we use better ones) as sometime stalls or restaurants uses some inferior ingredients eg soya sauce or ty MSG so one would tend to feel very thirsty throughout the night after a meal outside. but of course, its not easy to rush back and cook during weekdays as most of us are dual income earners. If we compare the meals below and have something similar at home (though not that fantastic, either close one or two eyes), we can actually save. For eg. 2 person go zhi cha stall eat - 2 plates of rice ($1) - a bowl of beancurb soup or seafood soup ($6) the prawns usually not fresh & they put salted veg, crab meat stick, beancurb very cheap nia - a plate of kang kong or bean spouts ($6) a big pack of kang kong is so cheap yet selling at $6 onwards - a plate of sweet n sour pork or prawn paste chicken wing ($8) can season chicken wings & pork the night before, also considered cheaper as a few pieces of wings already cost $8 onwards Total $17(+-) estimated - NB: who can afford to eat such meals every single day? pocket sure big big hole and also pui pui very soon 2 persons expenses for 2 value meal at McDonald also around $11+ can diy our own burgers and add more veg, tomatoes, etc or a simple dine out of 2 bowls of mee pok dry/handmade noodles/yong tau fu around $7-$8 a big pack of mee from the market cost less than $1, NTUC also recently selling local made handmade noodles (very nice according to my boy), 10pieces of yong tau fu cost $2 nia and merely need to dump in a tom yam soup cube or chicken base cube anyway, the above are some of my suggestions to cut cost but then again, cooking can b very boring. btw, its definitely cheaper to dine in if u have a big family. A single trip to hawker centre would set me back by at least $15 if a bowl of mee cost $2.50 (drinks not included) but if we buy a 1kg pack of mee from market, throw in prawns, fish ball/cake, crab meat stick, etc.....its definitely less than $15 plus its still less than $15 if I have to include a bottle of pepsi from the provision shop. Ice cubes on the house
  3. huh....tot there was a report than warn us not to use microwave to heat up cup of water. Do be careful with it.
  4. according to youngsters, they'll say more economical to eat out but try telling our grandparents or our parents. They'll say its much better to 'dine in'. hmm.....quite subjective on this weight issue as it all depends. To me, I find that 'dine in' put on weight and 'dine out' the opposite. What u all think?
  5. yup, good memories. Its the White House by Prettibride. U may like to PM her to get the info. U can view her glass railings here
  6. ya, so much better to submit our own meter readings. I started doing so from Jan 08 and have been paying quite identical bills for the past 2 months. No more sudden heart attack every 2 months when the bill can be more than $100 difference. Hahaha, for the bonus part, I dunno
  7. actually its really up to individual. In fact, majority kept a t-blog and not many have a blog so u may wanna choose either one depending on your needs. If u wan others to post comments then set up a t-blog otherwise a blog wld do.
  8. enjoy signing lots of forms tomorrow Yes n No to your question. 2nd appointment usually abt 4-6 weeks after 1st appt but sometimes can be much longer depending on the market situation. My friend previously got the 2nd appt date on the spot as the seller also wanted a much later date than the suggested 4-6 weeks. For my case, we got the agent to draft a letter on the spot, signed by all sellers and buyers for the earliest possible date but of course still up to HDB. The officer merely noted our request. The 2nd appt date would be accorded once the HDB officer done with the inspection for the flat. Usually would be delayed if seller failed to rectify what had to be done after the inspection. So do pester the agent if seller delay the rectification. And do check online diligently for the 2nd appt date. I checked almost every other day and informed the agent (only received the letter abt a week after the date came out online). good luck!
  9. definitely on the high side but it all depends on whether u like it or not and whether u can afford it plus how long do u wanna stay there??? anyway, there are definitely still people willing to pay that figure (Feb resale transaction) Blk 596B Ang Mo Kio St 52 21 to 25 91.00 2002 $485,000.00
  10. anyone know where to buy Hush Puppies bedsheet? Bought one at Compass Point when the shopping mall was having assorted brands of bedsheet sales some time back. Thanks in advance
  11. ya, i think more or less the same for different brand of laminates. I also heard abt wi-parquet but not sure if its ex. I took Kronotex AC5.
  12. wow, its indeed a good deal even though not including toilet fittings and kitchen accessories. Well, doesnt have to use expensive materials. I also dont believe in going for brand fittings in the toilet as a wc is a wc and its suffice as long as it served the purpose in the 1st place. btw, which brand of laminated flooring are u going for?
  13. yup, because condition of the flat also makes a difference. One wld have to spent alot on renovation if the condition of the flat makes u wanna puke..hahaha. Purchase price on HDB Resale Transactions is inclusive of Valuation + COV but realised that some people thought its only valuation price. We would never know the exact valuation of a flat unless u get hold of the report from the agent/seller. HDB only published the median valuation price for various estate quarterly.
  14. i totally agree with tatlee on this. Dont over stretch as u never know what's gonna happen the next day. abt 10 years ago, one of hubby's superior bought a 5 room flat in Bishan for nearly 400k, he and the wife were both fresh graduates and holding Executive positions but a month after they got the flat, the guy lost his job and we heard they have problems paying the monthly housing loan.
  15. ya, not cheap but then quite high floor and no need to pay COV. Me and hubby total paying $850 for 30 years. 2 of you paying 1k in total for 30years? Also not bad leh.
  16. i think these are those flats taken back or returned to HDB & would be sold as repurchased flats.
  17. yup, i still prefer Mitshibushi Electric but the better ones are more expensive then F & P but I wld rather got for it.
  18. oic! So gotta top up wif cold hard cash. Yr mthly loan shlould also b alot right? Need to top up? i'm paying abt 850 a mth (30yrs) for my EM but hope to clear it within 10yrs.
  19. oops, just realised thread starter was asking for comments for F & P fridge and I blur blur posted abt F & P washer. Sorry abt that. Looks like the fridge got problems hor but I do understand the plus point of getting a F & P fridge is that it has got 3 or 4 ticks for electric saving right?
  20. wat were the problems u started encountering fr year 3 onwards? i've been using my F & P 7.5 kg washer for 2.5 years. So far very good.
  21. I normally use magiclean wiper sheet to clean my laminated flooring. For mopping, I'm also using Sofix. But at times, I also use Ajax (Apple) which I used for my Homo tiles & it smells really nice. Sofix now has the new & improved version. I mop my laminates with Roman magic mop, & a special blue mop (polyyester) which I bought from a makeshift stall during roadshow. Its drier than the normal type of mop. Onces a while, i also get on my knees & use floor cloth to mop as this method would enable me to reach all the hard to reach corners as well as gaps. Lastly, i didnt have to use a cloth to dry up the flooring after mopping regardless of whichever mops I used. BEen using this method for 2.5 years
  22. wow, that's great. Imagine $3 X 12months lesser compared to the majority. Didnt know that cos read fr the papers that 'Chiam' ward claimed that its still the cheapest though its the last to increase pricing.
  23. I think generally most PAP Town Councils charged $80 or $80+ for EA and EM since 2004. Some Exec Flats (D & B) would be charged $85. Hammer and 'Chiam' ward did not increase the charges till 3 months ago. Anyway, 'Chiam' ward still charges the cheapest S & C for Exec flat at $78. U didnt have enough CPF so gotta top up cash for the 1st 10% (or is it 5%) cos lost touch liao.
  24. The famous Hammer estate comprises of those single digit blocks at Hougang Ave 7 old market, 300series blocks and 850series blocks. u're gonna stay in Hougang so must get to know this famous 'estate'....hahaha. Where do u stay now? Not in Hougang? it used to be $76 if I'm not wrong but recently increased to $80 (think abt 3 months ago).
