  1. looks very promising!!! i like the balcony glass doors. infact, the original condition is already very good. is this at hillview area?
  2. thanks all for the feedback. i got the contractor to seal the gaps. i opted for plaster but was advised silicon is better. after all the rectification, realised the floor tiles have been permenantly stained somehow in the process. they were probably not careful and the silicon may have dripped, causing all the blotchy patches. can't remove despite mopping 4x immediately after the repair work. sigh. will call them up again.
  3. the black patches come from behind, not on the mirror. contractor said i have to change the mirror. terrible, coz the patches were there when he installed it and they grew in size over the months.
  4. thanks for your feedback. this is happening across the entire stretch of cabinet, not just one portion. very shocking.
  5. the above 2 pics show my kitchen cabinet base. questions: 1)is it normal to have such a huge gap between the base & cabinet? 2)are cabinets only supported by the small pieces of crude plywood at the corners, as shown? 3)are there suppose to be any gaps at all? i was very shocked to see the gap, where cockcroaches are hiding! i thought the cabinets should be sitting FLAT on the base, and not have any gaps! pls pls help compare to yours and let me know asap! thanks all.
  6. i may have said this before: my $180 Claytan toilet bowl is the ultimate worst purchase ever. 1)doesn't flush well (gotta flush twice at least) 2)despite the weak flushing system, the water splashes all over the rim and OUTSIDE onto the floor and walls! i did not discover this until recently - i kept seeing all these stains and black specks on the floor and wall (they are poo fyi). and the plastic cover does not fit nor cover completely. looks awful too. gosh, this toilet bowl is causing me sooooo much grieve!
  7. the patch comes from behind. i can see that it is not on the mirror. i was told it has to do with inferior quality of the back piece causing a chemical reaction.
  8. black solid surface top for kitchen & bathroom. permanent water stains and scratches all over. have to diligently dry the whole area everytime. Cheap Clayton toilet bowl $180. whenever i flush, water and poo splashes onto the cover and floor! and of course, doesn't flush clean. always have to flush twice. moral of story: never save on toilet bowl! go for TOTO!
  9. Noticed 2 small grey black patches on bathroom mirror after moving in for 2 months. Then realised these patches have been getting bigger and spreading. Any idea what the cause is and how to remove them? The patches are on a part of the mirror where no water touches.
  10. i used them twice. products are good. the first time when i used them, they charged me a reasonable price. strangely when i used them a second time for private property, they started charging more (though i ordered the same thing). they did not even give me discount as a repeat customer.

    Cheap Carpet

wish to buy a carpet for dining table. this is my first time buying carpet. i want something easy to maintain. any advise? how often should i dry clean them?
  12. i have exactly exactly the same questions as you all this while!!!!!!!!!!!! awaiting someone to enlighten me further! anyway i think you are savvy enough to invest during SARS. SARS or 9/11 dun happen often, so you are smart, gutsy and quick enough to seize the opportunity. i would think you are just being prudent in your spending. i know of many others who plonk whatever they have into the down payment of private property and just live each day, hoping (and assuming) no big illness or job catastrophe strike them.
  13. well said : 'fondness for oddness' indeed! be also prepared for major overhaul, somehow his recommendations tend to be very extensive, don't know why.
  14. very keen, please post a picture of how the whole filter will look like after installation (i could not find on your website). just want to see how much space it takes up. thanks.
  15. i believe! whenever i pool to buy TOTO with colleagues, none of the numbers come out! but when they buy without me, they strike!
  16. My black solid surface vanity top has been stained just after one month usage. These are water & soap stains. They seem permanent as i could not get rid of them despite scrubbing. Anyone can recommend any solutions please, at least to lighten them? Thank you.

    Curtains

not sure if i will recommend Jason. i feel he has overcharged me by recommending me the priciest range (he admitted only when he delivered the curtains), and sewing linings which i don't need. in all, he charged me a whopping $2500 for a one bed room apartment. complete rip-off. he kept reassuring me (over and over and over again) that i won't regret my choice and that i should trust his expertise. well i trusted his expertise, but till today, i still dislike the choice of curtain he picked. he also kept asking me to recommend clients to him (repeated well over 30x), which i found terribly annoying.
  18. according to Mr Chang, office FS plays an even greater role in one's career than any house audit. he told me i must move my workstation but how can?????
  19. i have done acid wash for my post-reno, but no difference to me. grout lines still black, and stains remain. i don't really know what acid wash does!
  20. agree with all your points!!!! particularly clean up and management of contractors. i nearly died when they installed the wrong solid surface for me. but in the interest of time, i did not demand a change. now living with the permanent eye-sore. another mistake they made: they proceeded to varnish all my doors, although i went through personally with them that i do NOT want to varnish doors. spent $500 for nothing since the varnished doors look the same as before. moral of the story, must put everything in email. no verbal communications. i could not even get any discount.
  21. i did part of my kitchen wall this way to cut tiling costs. looks great to me. btw, i only saved $350 in going with this option.
  22. just to add on, whatever good or bad we do in this lifetime, its effect may NOT necessarily ripen (ie materialise) in this lifetime or even the next. it could be many many lifetimes more before the seeds ripen.
  23. totally agree....i didn't want to bring up the issue of karmic debtors in my earlier post as there are few believers in this. but it's real, very real.
  24. simply stunning!!! well done, love everything about your place, including the simple altar!
