  1. i see, meaning it's a weekends car lor. !! a weekends car? of course there're restrictions b'cos the price you paid is already cheaper than a normal car liao. even the road tax you pay is cheaper.
  2. i see. i think you better don't buy the accord now b'cos i was told by kah motor agent that they'll be having a new facelift for the accord soon. we prefer to buy from agent than parallel importer b'cos i feel more secure lor. although parallel importer may give more freebies than agent lor. but nevertheless, we prefer to close the deal with agent. !!
  3. parallel importer honda accord?? what's so special about the parallel import compare to kah motor? made in japan? kah motor accord is made in thailand. city also made in thailand. the merc is a 2nd hand car?? !! always remember that buy a car is easy but to maintain a car isn't easy.
  4. you don't have to wait until you earn tons of $$$ then can buy a car mah. you can buy a cheaper budget car. which car you're aiming at? or have in your mind? i mean you must be realistic lah. buy a car according to your budget, size of the car etc.
  5. last time, when i just met my hubby and he didn't have a car. we often took cab everywhere we went. eventually, we calculated the expenses we spent on cab alone and it was really not worth it lor. so we decided to get a car. our first car was a mit lancer. i still remember it was a manual car. but the honda we're driving now is an auto car. but sometimes, cab is really very difficult to hire esp on festive seasons and emergency.
  6. you all can slowly upgrade in future. our first car was a mit lancer and this honda MPV is our second car.
  7. if you prefer GCW after all then go ahead and book. it's you and your wife's decision! a car is more for transportation purpose and convenient sake. to show status is beside the point liao. road tax has to depend b'cos some people prefer to renew half a year or yearly. so this can't count as monthly expenses for a car. usually, monthly expenses for a car refer to installment, petrol, parking fee, erp, car wash etc. it's no surprise that director takes mrt to work mah. some people can be very thrifty. there're some companies' directors even stay in hdb flats. ya lor, everything is $$$.
  8. aiyo, i didn't mention that swissotel the stamford is the starter for the 20 pax per table idea lah. i just told you all that swissotel the stamford is ONE of the hotels which offers 20 pax per table lah. anyway, we didn't request for the mega top b'cos of some reasons. frankly speaking, it's very difficult to have everything (e.g, one ballroom, nice ballroom, good food, good ambience, good service, reasonable pricing etc).
  9. no car isn't a crime. why so realistic leh? btw, just curious. you don't drive?? i saw many men working in raffles place or sherton way are wearing very smartly to work. i wonder whether they earn really a lot a not or just maybe they want to dress up to make themselves look good for others to see. haha. probably, their salary is very low only. i find that real rich people usually will dress very causally. hubby has a few friends who are very rich and they dress very causal. nobody will know they're rich, manz!
  10. ya, some people don't know how to auto so what can we do?? they can't blame us to be so realistic mah. some people are smart, they don't want to write their names on the ang bao. so that nobody will know mah. you must arrange appt around lunch time so that you got the chance!!
  11. we were dining at HIPV after met up with the co-ordinator and so happened we met the co-ordinator at the lunch buffet so she treated us lor.
  12. i don't intend to invite my poly friends b'cos didn't contact with them anymore. some friends you know that they're stingy then better forget it! waste time and effort! i feel guilty until now that we didn't book with HIPV after eating their free lunch buffet!
  13. we also think that grand copthorne is 4 star hotel b'cos of the location. but the wedding co-ordinator kept insisted that it's 5 star hotel. anyway, not interested at all. you're a very realistic person. but we also the same too lah. haha. no matter what, we must invite both sides relative. it's a courteous to invite them. we're sure our relatives aren't that stingy and "know how to do people". which wedding co-ordinator from HIPV that you made appt with? that time we looked for adeline. she's a very nice lady b'cos she's patient in explaining to us. she even treated us lunch buffet at HIPV. ya, agreed. hubby said i'm a very fussy lady so he asked me to make the decision. if i like then ok.
  14. the wedding co-ordinator from grand copthorne told us that it's a 5 star hotel. he's sure a not??? he said 5 star in the sense of business. you expect people to come but if they don't come also bo bian. you just have to bear the cost liao. you can't use the word "expect" for your AD. everything must be well-planned. i feel that holiday inn parkview is not bad. at least better than grand copthorne! you must see the crystal ballroom. very nice and high ceiling. ya, agreed that hilton is very old! imagine a 5 star hotel but look very old. why you and my hubby said the same thing huh? he also said that wife is in charge of choosing venue and hubby is in charge of paying the bills. hahaha.
  15. frankly speaking, do you think grand copthorne location is convenient meh??? i really don't think so lor. it's very out of the way! location is really an impt factor too. i ever read a posting from this forum that someone's friend held their AD at grand copthorne and eventually they couldn't even breakeven after their AD due to the location. one of the swissotel the stamford ballrooms can hold 50 tables or more. you mean sheraton and conrad are the only hotels with 12 persons per table? ya, i think i heard before. i also known that swissotel the stamford is one of the hotels which caters 20 persons per table for VIPs (you can choose). it's called the mega top. oriental hotel really has very bad service?!
  16. when is your AD? you must book 1 year advance.
  17. ya, the wedding packages are quite cheap. we saw them earlier this year. don't tell me they've increased the prices?? if you said grand corpthorne waterfront isn't cheap then really not worth it liao b'cos not cheap and extremely incovenient location! oh, your friend had a bad experience huh? but some of my friends had good experiences with swissotel the stamford leh. probably, different people had encountered different experiences. after all, we're human mah and so sure feel either pleasing or unpleasing.
  18. ya, grand copthorne waterfront wedding packages are quite cheap. you didn't have the wedding packages? we were surprised too. haha. but we hate the location. extremely INCONVENIENT! you also must think of the convenience for your guests. you know why? b'cos some people find that if the location is very inconvenient and they rather not to turn up! eventually, you can hardly breakeven for your AD. which hotel had nail in the drink?! i agreed that merchant court food CMI. we tried before and impression not good. we chosen swissotel the stamford b'cos of the service, convenient location (city hall mrt nearby), the beautiful bridal suite (very beautiful scenery and at 60th+ floor), food etc. swissotel the stamford is the only hotel with "smart lighting" in their ballrooms. a 5 star hotel. you should bring your wife to see the ballrooms and bridal suite, she'll surely love it! after seeing the ballroom and bridal suite, i started to pester hubby to book swissotel the stamford! we also went to grand hyatt, hilton, grand copthorne waterfront etc but the ballrooms CMI. ya, intercon is based on asupicious dates to price their wedding packages. i don't find intercon has anything special except the ballroom i agreed is beautiful but the rest is average lor. since you mentioned grand hyatt's co-ordinators and here i've a comment. that time, when we went to view grand hyatt ballrooms and a co-ordinator didn't give us a good impression. she gave me a feeling that she didn't bother to serve us and very hurry went through everything very fast. she also didn't bother to give us the complimentary parking. from such small issue you can see the attitude so how can we let this hotel to handle our big day! holidays inn parkview and hilton co-ordinators are very good especially holidays inn parkview. holiday inn parkview is not bad and their crystal ballroom is very nice!
  19. what's Q4? fourth quarter of the year? if so, then you must book the venue these few months liao lor. at least 1 year in advance. so that you'll be able to book the auspicious date which you want. when we were selecting the venue, we called and viewed several 5 star hotels before making the final decision as where to hold our AD. there're several things to look out for: your budget, the more convenient location, the food, the hotel service etc. we went to grand copthorne waterfront and basically we don't like the ballroom and the location. the ballroom isn't nice and location is d-a-m-n inconvenient! but the wedding packages are quite cheap. probably, you can view 1-3 hotels in a day. that was our record so far! how come swissotel the stamford isn't in your list? it's also a 5 star hotel.
  20. houses that built in period 8 means that when the houses start to build. renovating a house doesn't make a house to become period 8.

  22. eu yan sang birdnest is very expensive. it can cost more than $70!
