Hi Snoozee, just wondering why is it necessary to rent the crane? Can't they carry the compressor up the stairs to the attic? I dunno how true this is but was told some air con brands are disrupted by supply issues and some market players are suggesting VRV cos there's stock. But besides the height of the unit, are there downsides to using a VRV? Eg operating costs?

Wondering if i should engage a CCTV guy to install my CCTVs, or just buy them myself (cheaper) and install on my own ... I'm not the most tech savvy person though. Is it complicated? Or Plug and play... I think i will need like 6-7 CCTVs (indoor and outdoors). Alternatively, are there pple who help with installation after you buy your own CCTVs?

Is that 70-100 per week? -
Your Hikvsion intercom comes only with one indoor monitor? Is the outdoor unit made of plastic? Weatherproof? Thinking of Dahua vs Hikvision .... you guys know which is better? Value and reliability... Also, any concern that they may not be compatible with other stuff like iPhones in the future after Trump banned them from ONVIF which is like som industry standards thingy (which I don’t understand)...

Roof ventilators

I'm also looking to cool the house down. Besides leakage, another concern i have with this system is that if i want to install solar panels in the future, this device may block the placement of the panels. Doesn't seem like many people have tried using this... Another way i was thinking is to use a strong fan like a Vornado to circulate the air on the top floor room with an open window, which should blow the hot air out and with hot air rising from the ground floor through my stairwell, the temperature downstairs should be cooler. -

Solar Panels For Landed Homes?
Topline replied to meower's topic in Landed & Condo Private Properties Renovation Discussion
Do these solar panels systems have storage ability to store electricity for cloudy days? -
Hi Snoozee, these solar panels can last 20-30 years right? So even with 7 years ROI, from 8 years on you would be using the set up for free, no? I suspect when the SP tariffs shoot up to 40 cts kwh, the installation costs for the panels would also shoot up by then, such that ROI is still 6-7 years 🙂

How many years have you got the panels? Are there on-going costs to maintain? -
Hi, can I check what is required to maintain a pool? Do the pool maintenance companies take care of everything?

Outdoor Decking

I've been told even Chengal wood will warp. It seems like composite wood is the only one that will not warp but people tell me it feels hotter to walk on under the sun compared to real wood. But what i wonder is if they can last after a few years. Anyone has any experience? Read the experience of a fellow forumer here: -
Financial health of builders

Heard that sometimes, the contractors already mark up their pricing such that they dont need the remaining % (is it 5%?) retained to fix defects. So they dont care about fixing repairs? Is it possible to ask for more than 5% to be retained? -
In terms of costs savings, would a solar air con (which also requires solar panels to be mounted on roofs) be more cost efficient compared to a general solar panel that generates electricity for use for more than just the air con? Cos the latter option doesn't require a separate compressor and indoor unit (just to use solar) which also takes up addtional space ... you can use normal applicances, i think.
