  1. wow i am also targeting for 20th dec hand over
  2. ok good updates over. Noticed one of my floor tile is already badly scratched. Its scratches due to people opening the door which in turn due to debris under the door to scratch the floor. I am very worried now that if they cant remove those deep scratches, they would have to hack up that tile. In that case, dunno will have impact such as uneveness due to a different piece of tile used, as well as if there will be any impact to the other tiles if only hack up that piece. See Pic attached. I wanted to call Andrew but decided not to cos recently I have been highlighting quite a bit of stuff to him and I think he is not very happy. Actually I don expect him to be on site everyday as he has other projects. Hence, whenever I see something I am not sure, like holes on wall, areas that need plastering again, I will take photo and email him to let him know. I think cos of my actions, he is annoyed and feel that I am treating him like a Contractor instead of an ID. Hence, I decided I better not raise too much issues to him since he assured me that he will inspect everything and make sure all is well before hand over. Only thing I am worried is, I feel ithat t will be easier to rectify it now, rather than later when going to complete then he come up to see and then start to rectify it. This may involved things like a bit of hacking, repainting, etc which will cause uneveness, as well as paint differences. These are the main concerns I have loh thats why i aways try to let him know when i see something. Anyway, now a bit scare le haha....better leave it be and hope he notices it. Guess must learn to trust him also bah...
  3. Wow, its been a long time since I updated my blog. Been too busy with work lately to have the luxury of even visiting my house. Anyway, things are getting better now after the walls have been plastered. Painting of the sealant coat is now underway and hopefully I can take over the house before Christmas. Some updates of the house reno: My rainshower bought from Royal Fanco. Seems like all that purchase from them buy the same model My Common Toilet ADL Shower head. Going to remove the soap tray cos don use that kinda soap: My McClair Toilet bowl. Cost me 200 for 1, inclusive of delievey and the Pan collar: My Common Toilet Basin. Baron Brand, small and cute My New Circuit Board with loads of wires:
  4. hacking? wow sounds bad..hope all turns out fine for you.
  5. that tap might be from Royal Fanco? I oso got that one but I am using it for my Kitchen Sink and not MBR Toilet. Seems like RF is showing everyone the same items Means we going to have the same fittings I got mine for $85.
  6. Another Sat!!! Went to my house today and found that the tilers were completing the final touches of the tiles!! What a pleasant surpise! hence, went inside to recee heh.. Noticed a few minor items 1) Common Toilet base should be hexagonal like my fridge base. Reason being that it is on the floor and at an area that people will always walk. Hence, we might kick it and get injured. Already told my ID at the same time when I mentioned to him to make the fridge base corner hexagonal. Hence, I quickly called him and told him about this. He told me that he did not catch the part that I wanted to make the toilet base corner hexagonal too. Then he told me he will immediately ask the tilers to rectify this. No arguements at all! This is impressive. In the last reno that my family went thru, the contractor would argue and say not his fault, etc etc and then charge us when we want things to be redone due to their mistake. Surprisingly, Andrew told me his reason for having missed that and then assured me that he will rectify it with no additional charge or arguements. This is what i call service! 2) The main entrance steps were tiled but the sides weren't. We wanted the sides to also be tiled. Reason for this is because if the sides are not tiled, it will easily be dirtied when people accidentally brush against the sides with their shoes. Stains on paint is hard to wash off but if it is on tiles, it can much easily cleaned. I again called Andrew and told him about this and he told me he will get it done on Monday. phew..... 3) btw, Andrew also helped me to absorb about 80 bucks from the excess tiles. Now I only need to top up 670 or so. phew....lucky he undestand that I really in a very tight spot with the cash stuff. 4) finally, i am opting to use stainless steel drainage cover in my MBR toilet. Wonder if this will cost me anything . Waiting for his reply. Hopefully, won't be too much as I will most prob have to top up some cash to change door handles to stainless steel lever types.
  7. ic, ok thanks..think might b better to buy the sharp oven then since its able to also grill and bake..
  8. Got another thing bugging me. i am going to get the Sharp steam oven which will cost me $1255 from goh ah bee. Reason for getting this is because wife says its more healthy as we will be lazy to cook and use it most of the time. Hence microwave is out of the question. I would like to check, for 1.2k, would it be possible to get a built in steam oven that works the same with water and stuff? that way I would be able to save space cos that sharp oven is really bulky!! Thanks!
  9. yup, i will be buying a storage heater and installing at my common toilet. Looks ugly but bo bian lah want to have the luxury of bathing with rain shower keke.. question is, which rainshower to get that is reasonable....sigh..
  10. Planning to buy a rain shower set for my MBR toilet. Does anyone have any idea what is good or have actual experience using one? I don want to end up getting one that is like a handshower kinda effect. If so, I might as well just use my handshower put on the top most tip of the bar and let the water fall downwards...
  11. wah which ID is this? can PM me? wanna warn my friends
  12. ya loh, lucky payment to IDs are staggered and still have savings. But still have to be careful don deplete my savings heh..
  13. ya, thats why no blame him mah...this is bo bian one have to pay de. Next house I do, will get ID or contractor to give me cost for the tile I choose before asking them to advance. Haha, this time i mistook its per tile instead of psf hence led to this major amount
  14. Andrew did inform me that he cant cover for me the tiles that I purchase from SBH. The rest which we chose from Defu lane were all below 3 bucks. With the except of 1 that is 4.80 for the window portion of my MBR toilet which he absorbed. thats why I said is also my mistake that I mistook it to be in excess of each tile. should have read the lines more carefully that it is psf
  15. I don suggest youo do that as it will spoilt the laminate on the wardrobe. In addition, not too sure laminate is strong enuff to hold your LCD (depending on the size of your LCD).
  16. *sigh* just received quote from ID for the tiles in excess that I have to top up. Come up to 800 over bucks!! faints. My own fault also. I keep thinking the price listed was per tile. In actual fact, its psf. Hence, if I get a $1 in excess tile for my living room which is like 400sqft, I would have to top up $400!! Some people ask me how come is not ID give me the revised quote then I agree to use that tile or not. I can't really blame him on this cos I myself had been thinking its per tile price. Hence, when Andrew did not give me the revised quote to confirm before purchasing the tiles, I also no chase him for it. Its only when now I was thinking of adding carpentry that i chase him for the revise quote so that I can see if I can still afford more stuff.. Thats why got a shock when I received it today haiz....nothing I can do lah already laid. Andrew told me he try to see if can negotiate the price cost with SBH. waiting to see outcome loh. haiz... so people, please don make the same mistake as me. Price quoted is per sqft and not per tile. And if can. don be overconfident (like me), please get quote then confirm purchase of tiles. Else be prepared for a shock lol...
  17. One more thing you need to bear in mind when choosing tiles. I made this mistake so now I get a sudden extra sum of $800+ for my tiles The price you see listed at the tile shop is NOT the price for 1 tile. It is the cost per square feet. Meaning, if you choose a tile that is $4 but your ID give you till $3, it does not mean that you merely top up $1 per tile. You have to measure the square feet of your area and multiply by the extra amount!!! E.g, Tile you choose = $4 Tile ID gives you is $3 Your floor Area = 400sqft This means you have to top up 400 x (4-3) = $400!!!! faints.....
  18. congrates!! your house loos fabulous and the 3D that your Id supplied you really looks close to the actual product. enjoy your house!!
  19. Not too sure if you know this, but my experiene with all the quotations from IDs are that you can bargain away the GST amount. usually what they do is, the register u as a client under another firm which is a subsidary of their exisitng firm . Hence, as that smaller firm has not reached the target to be required to pay GST, they can so called 'waive' it off your final sum. Hence, if you see GST, ask ur ID to waive it. Will save u thousands...on top of that, calculate ur floor size *Length x Breath* and get the per sq ft size. Use the amount quoted by ur ID for you to see how much he is charging you for the tiling per sq ft. Some can go up to as high as 10 bucks per sq ft. Use that to bargain it lower. Usually the cost that you get is tile cost + worksmanship. Hence, e.g. If you find that your per sq ft is $10 and the ID only offers u a selection of $3 tiles, that means he is charging a whooping $7 bucks for worksmanship per sq ft, which IMO is a lot. keep it within a total of 7-8 to be within market rate.
  20. haha, ya man...hope he keeps this up. Tiling seems ok. next will have to wait and see his coordination for the electric points, lights, air con, window, fittings, etc. Most importantly, have to see his carpentry. If its anywhere near what I saw at one of the show flat tha the brought me to, then I shouldnt have much to worry about...but then....till now, I am keeping my fingers crossed.... Somehow, maybe its just that I think too much....but...its my first time reno-ing my own house so a bit on the gan jiong and everything wanna know that kinda feeling sigh,....
  21. Time for updates 1) My ID's observation saved the day again!! i wanted to have the frame at the entrance from living room to Kitchen to be paint and not tiles. However, ID told me that since my kitchen wall is straight all the way, it is nicer to put tiles. I was a bit worried as having tiled kithen entrance frame feels old fashioned to me. Hence, i told him to STOP all work for that area and let me go see. In the end, he was right. it really looks odd without tiles haha.... 2) They have just started to do up the living room tiles. Was too dark when I went there tonight and the connections to the lights have been removed. Hence, I merely opened the door and peeped in. Seems like kitchen wall is done up, Living room floor tile started. Progress is encouraging!! Kudos to Andrew for keeping track of the progress as he knows I would like to have the house b4 Christmas. Here are some pics taken last Thursday. will post updated pics this weekend when I pop by. Feel safer now knowing that someone is taking care of everything keke...so big difference as compared to engaging a Contractor which I did for my dad's house the last time. My dad has to be onsite everyday to give instructions to the workers!! 1) MBR Toilet Wall 2) Common Toilet Wall 3) Kitchen Wall 4) My room laminate colour with matching wardrobe laminate 5) My dining hanging lights to suit the resort theme 6) Dining lights after bringing them home http://g.imageshack.us/thpix.php' target="_blank"> Couldnt find what I wanted for the dining area at Singapore Lightings but managed to find it somewhere else at Jalan Besar for $160 keke....
  22. mine also have gas pipes running from living room to the kitchen. think the older flats all like that de....no choice haha...i changing to either copper or stainless steel and don intend to box them. Save cost mah lol...
  23. I prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt that he is bz and hence 4got about this arrangement with me. Its quite hard to work if I everything also don trust him and stuff like that keke.... anyway, he has already called me and told me that he checked and no charge is involved for the tinted windows. Phew....not too bad..no need i tell him..now only waiting for the price of the handles.
  24. ya agreed. Think he most prob 4got. I am not the very calculative kinda person so I also hope my ID isn't one haha....so far no issues with him except this minor one which I think would be good for me to talk to him and remind him when I meet him the next time..
  25. wah ur reno works very the fast leh!!! congrates man! when is the targeted completion date. How I wish mine no need hack living area also.can save a lot of money....
