  2. Hi folks, Any comments/experience on the following Fujioh Hood and Hob: - FG 33 SV (hob) - FX 900 (hood) [made in China] - FS 890 (hood) [made in Japan] Ok, I know FX900 is the hottest item now, but does FS890's made in Japan status matter? Do the 2 hoods differ that much?

  6. Finally got a 2-week period where I am the only one at home. Gonna get some work done on the 30-plus year old kitchen. In the midst of meeting up with different contractors...and learning things. Here's something that I am getting conflicting answers. The kitchen floor tiles are the original ones. 1st contractor immediately say do overlay. 2nd contractor use his hand to knock here and there and say got hollow. Not advisable to overlay as next time will have problem. 3rd contractor also knock here and there and say got hollow. But he think it is ok to overlay, will not crack or pop up. Who to believe?
  7. Anyone has any experience with this contractor (David Heng @ Soterior) recently?
  8. Anyone has encounters with this firm or David Heng before? Any feedback?
  9. Sorry I wasn't clear.... Say after the sitting w/c is in place, and if I wash the toilet floor, where the water go since unlike the new toilets, there's a separate hole for the ater to flow?
  10. question....for the old type of toilet, there's no 'hole' in the floor to drain water away. what do the contractor do?
  11. Any good pest control company to recommend? Their treatment seem standard one: spray/mist 1 hour, allow to settle for 4 hrs, air 30 mins. Before treatment must store food away etc. What is a safe way to keep the food stuff? And must clean up place after that. Very troublesome. Are there any using other good methods that isn't so troublesome? TIA!
  12. Hi folks, Very tiring..... The bed bugs seem to start in one room and after putting Diatomaceous Earth there for one week, we are seeing only the small ones. We were hopeful this means breaking of the cycle is taking place and everything would be over in 4-5 weeks. Then, discovered last night that the beds in other 2 rooms also kena. Haiz.... A few questions..... Am I supposed to search for them only in the bedrooms? Other than Diatomaceous Earth, any other effective means? Vsafe still good? Don't see Vsafe anywhere. When should I decide to call in the Pest Company? Any good ones to recommend? The bed bugs bites seem to leave scars behind......how ah? Thanks!!!!!!
  13. Hi folks, Just to share. Found and bought mine at Solos (www.solos.com.sg). Considered cheaper than at Ikea and vhive.
  14. Any other places to check for those L-shaped study tables like Ikea Galant where there's a contour for the body to fit in nicely and arms to rest on table? Ikea's too big for my room......
  15. Hmm, I remember there were storage charges long ago but that short 3 days thingy is news......as mentioned by an earlier poster, must be something new when the contract was renewed. For the standard price items, can always plan and buy...not too sure about now, but for those areas nearby the IKEA store, their delivery time sure morning one...very fixed, cannot bargain. I think the problem is when you spot items that have slashed prices in limited quantities (but not advertised*) or spotted something at As-Is. Definitely need to purchase then and there.......but next 3 days may not be able to have someone at home. Footnote ---------- * Like 3 weeks ago, I spotted the Markor glass cabinets selling at half price. And left only 4 boxes at the self-service shelf. Hooted 2 boxes immediately myself. If a lady, it would have been impossible to carry.....
  16. the only concern is that the plastic jug is stated to be withstand up to 70 deg C loh.... think as you guys suggested, just need to manage the boiling pot side.... thanks!
  17. muhaha.... to simplify the question... how do you get room-temperature water from boiled water? What do you use (flask, jug etc etc)?
  18. To start with, I am probably using all the wrong terms. Wondering how the rest of you manage this supposedly simple thing of containing the different 'waters' in the kitchen. What's happening is this in order: 1. Water get boiled in boiling pot 2. Boiled water goes into Zojirushi 'Handy Pot'. This is the source of hot water. 3. For room-temperature water, boiled water in boiling pot that has cooled is poured into a plastic flask which can withstand hot water up to 70 deg C. I am finding step 3 to be a little out-of-sync because of the waiting and sometimes cannot wait becos need to boil new hot water. Originally, I tot can use the water from Step 3 but think the Zojirushi 'Handy Pot' too good lah.....water stays hot for too long liao. haha..... Thinking of getting those jug (aluminium or steel - any difference?) to pour boiled water into for cooling before pouring into the plastic flask. How else you guys do it? If going for the jug option, those in market can do or got better recommendations? Ok ok, stop shouting "super noob"! TIA!
  19. same here...anyone knows? looking especially at the tables that has the rounded sides for the body to fit it....
  20. think they've redeemed themselves! 3 guys turned up! seems they are a team working on a few jobs throughout the day......they were stuck on previous job.... not only did they get the job done but also tried to fix my lousy assembly....it's an ikea cabinet.... will still call them again....
  21. Not to discount your experience with him so far..... Fixed appointment with him to come the next day. Waited till 20 mins after appointment time no appearance and no call. Called the office line and Thomas picked up. Funnier thing he said "oh you are at home already, ok my guy will reach soon" Huh? We never agree for me to call him when I reach home leh.......haiz........ Now 25 mins after call still waiting..... Called his office line again and he say his guy will reach 15-20 mins.
  22. Hi folks, I'd bought a rod (slightly thicker than those found in regular hardware shops) to hang the clothes in the closet (1.16 m inside) but 6 months later, it started to sag too. Went jalan jalan at the industrial place near office at AMK Ave 3. First shop say they have thicker ones (internal wall) that are 1" total diameter that can take the load, but their rod support cannot make it. It's the round kind that is soldered to a reactangular piece that is then screwed to the wardrobe. From experience, the solder cannot make it lah...sure break one leaving the rectangular piece screwed on and the round support and rod dropped. Halifax was second shop I went to. The boss (I think) is a very patient man answering my noob questions. I at first thought the support he showed cannot make it too but he went to unscrew it to show me. It looks like this: http://www.thehardwarehut.com/catalog-prod...hp?p_ref=257299 And the rod is.....solid. Definitely much thicker (internal wall) than those at neightbourhood shops. Recommend if you looking for this or other items.
  23. Yipee! Monday morning, HDB branch officer finally managed got in touch with upstairs people and checked their kitchen. The officer told me they dug up a layer of 'oily stuff' from the hole. Problem solved! Kudos to the officer!
  24. I'll let Town Council handle it first....they are trying to get in touch with upstairs... The cost issue...tot it depends on the type of problem? If it's tha pipe, tot it's totally upstairs'?
