Half Yearly Hdb Sales
alyplwwf replied to lovee_cdc's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
I'm also looking at Blk 41 Chai Chee St, have quite a few units there. However, based on the lease commencement date 1985, the flats there should be about 23 years old but why are all those units nos. 10 & 32 (all in a row) not sold ? Are they consider new flats or repurchased flats ? If repurchased, there's no indication at all. Can anyone help on this ? Thanks. -
Hi Cute, I really like your reno and the colour themes, is so refreshing and bright. May I know you did the design yourself and HoBee just follow or did they do the ID work for you too ? I must say to do up a 4 rm resale flat for 15K is really very good price especially alot of hacking work involved. Moreover the whole reno process only took you 3 weeks ! I hv been asking around and most ID says at least 6-8 weeks. Did you contact with Mrs Quek or Patrick at HoBee ?

Cheapest Way To Do Flooring?

My existing cabinet is also straight. I was thinking of L-shaped is because I intend to place my washing machine near the window and beside the rubbish chute. -
Re-wiring Of Hdb Flat After 10 Years - Necessary?
alyplwwf replied to Misc100's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
Hi everybody, I just intend to renovate my kitchen flooring and cabinets but due to the change of cabinets shaped and probably hob / oven shifting position, do I need to rewire the whole house or the contractor can just add switches / sockets for the kitchen ? -

Hi, thanks again for your help. I will contact Mrs Quek for quote next week after finalising how we want the kitchen cabinet to be - L-shaped or U-shaped or straight ? -
Cheapest Way To Do Flooring?
alyplwwf replied to pinkpetter's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Hi Yokine9a, Ya you are right ! I was doing a search for reno company and happened to find this site and I also learned alot from this forum. Hubby and I do not intend to do much reno to our existing flat as we intend to upgrade to a bigger flat may be in 5-10 years down the road. So after some serious thoughts, have decided to just do the following :- Hack Kitchen flooring / wall / cabinets Rewiring Change aircon Painting Change bedroom and main entrance doors I guess I will just get one contractor to help to supervise and co-ordinate all the work. I'm lousy in co-ordinating especially with those contractors (all look like Ah Bengs to me) and my hubby is those bu-charp type, just leave everything to me to handle. Did you use ID or contractor for your reno ? Care to share with me the details / contact ? How was the workmanship ? Btw, how much was the rewiring for your flat. I met some ID during the last exhibition at the expo and two of them quoted me totally different prices. One quote was abt $1500 and another quote was $3400 ??? -
Cheapest Way To Do Flooring?
alyplwwf replied to pinkpetter's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Hi yokine9a, Thanks again for your reply. I more or less understand now. I thought of laminating my living room and all bedrooms for my existing 3 room flat and just hack / redo the kitchen flooring / walls & cabinets, rewiring, change aircon and painting. Should I get a contractor to do all these or ID ? Also, can one contractor do all the work or I have to get different people to do kitchen and all flooring, then electrician to do rewiring & aircon and another painter to do painting ? Any idea how much would that cost to do such reno ? -
Cheapest Way To Do Flooring?

Thanks kastlekonfusion, yokine9a and pinkpetter for your explanation. So the laminating thing can it be done over existing ceramic flooring ? is it just overlay ? sorry if my question sounds stupid as I really dunno anything abt reno. -
Darwin Interior
alyplwwf replied to veroni's topic in Renovation Contractors, Interior Designers & Suppliers Reviews
Hi honeyclub, can you pm me the ID who served you at darwin ? I saw their adv on paper and quite impress so intend to visit their showroom at Bendemeer next week. Btw, I think your quote is very reasonable. I have received quote for my 3 room flat from other ID at above 30K for almost the same kind of work done. -
Hi RawR, I like all your designs especially the MBR and the storage bed. Also like your shoe and tall cabinet. I also have the same idea of putting shoe cabinet at the same place. Anyway, I vote for dinning table.
-
I have the same intention but can meh ? Will HDB contractor allow ? With two different contractors doing work at the same time, it will inconvenient one another.
-
Hi 666, For my case, both MBR and kitchen toilets will be upgraded by HDB first, so that means I will start my other reno just after HDB completes the toilet and windows changes. In this case, I should have no probelm with shower or pee pee but with the dust / mess and shifting of furnitures
-
Hi butterflykisses, I can't PM you. Please PM me the contractor / ID company and thanks.
-
Hey Clockwork, Why didn't you change the doors when you do reno a year ago ?
-
Thanks Clockwork for your explanation. At first I thought your full height cabinet is extended all the way to the common toilet. I can now imagine how your kitchen looks like. If I do the same as you, I will have to hack half the wall btw the living room and kitchen or else the entrance will be very narrow. Still considering
-
Hi RawR, Looking at the speed they are currently doing at blk 60 (about 50% of the units completed), I probably think should be Nov / Dec by the time they reach my side. Today went to look see look see those units currently doing upgrading. Wow its really terrible, they used canvas (in think so) to cover your living room flooring and also plastic sheets to cover all the entrances (btw living room and kitchen and the bedroom area) and also half of the living room (cover the furnitures). I can't imagine they are going to turn my home into this shape Looking at the mess, I think it is better to do a major reno simultaneously and clean up once and for all
-
don know but i think end of this mth ba ? My girl definitely can't stay during upgrade as she has sensitive nose and skin. Hopefully, the HDB upgrade can starts around Nov school holiday then it will be better for me otherwise it will also be a problem bringing her back to school in the morning as my parent/pil stay far away from her kindergarten.

Cheapest Way To Do Flooring?
alyplwwf replied to pinkpetter's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
heh, what is the difference btw laminate and parquet ? It looks the same to me leh. -
heh clockwork, want to ask you one thing - yr full height cabinet (acting as store room) also in the kitchen, so you have cabinets facing one another on both sides of the walls right ? that means your kitchen passage way will be very narrow ? I thot of doing the same as you and convert my existing store room to a study / computer room.
-
Oh sorry, I mean to say need to pack n shift furnitures if doing major reno. But the Queensway ID told me that they can do one part at a time, like start from kitchen, then 2 rooms and finally living rm so I will have alot of shifting work to do. Actually I like Option C but my girl likes B so finally we decide on one each and HDB allowed, so good loh fair mah
-
Thanks Celestial for the info. Hi RawR, Ya, I'm also 61, 8th floor. Nice to meet you here. Ya I agree that the living rm is a bit dark even during day time and have to switch on the lights if my girl is doing her school work. Can bunk in with my parents but thinking of shifting the furnitures and packing will also be headache and can't imagine the dust and mess the contractors create. The quote that you got is from which ID ? Looks like a bit expensive for a 3 rm flat ? I selected B for my kitchen toilet and C for my MBR. What abt you ?
-
Hi RawR, I am also staying at Telok Blangah Heights and my flat also pending for HDB upgrade in 1-2 mths time. I believe your are also blk 60 or 61 ? correct me if I'm wrong, hehe .... neighbour leh ... You have very nice design. Are you going to hack the wall between the living rm and kitchen ? But if you do daily cooking just like me, aren't the living rm wall and flooring gets oily easily ? I also thot of open concept to create a bigger house look but still hesitate. I think with tiles on the kitchen wall is easier to maintain. I also intend to do major reno during HDB upgrade as my flat was done up almost 18 yrs ago. But with us still staying there, is going to be really very very messy and dusty, so still don know whether worth the hassle or not. sigh .... I think those ID usually don reply email as I have also sent a few emails about a week liao but so far only one ID at Queensway S/C called me to discuss what I want and now still waiting for his quote. But I saw some forumers here are saying that ID provide bad service and quality. What flooring do you intend to do for your living rm, bedrooms and kitchen ?
