Hi SoloQueen, I am also staying at Telok Blangah Heights, 3NG. My house was bought 20 years ago and was renovated by the ex-owner. Now, I am thinking of giving my house an overhaul as the renovation was so old and out-dated. I like your design, especially the kitchen and study room. Can you email me the quotation and your ID contact ? Do you think is still advisable to stay there while the renovation is on ? Can we actually move our things to one room and the contractors renovate the Kitchen, living room and the other room first, then thereafter shift our belongings to the renovated room and then do the rest ? As I'm new to renovation, appreciate you guys could give any advice or comments. Thank you very much

Hi RawR, Your house is really very tastefully done up and cosy and I love the colour theme of your kitchen and living room. The MBR wardrobe is also very class. After you have done up the place, it looks so big, like a 4 room flat. Very well done, worth the money.
-
Well you don find big and long kitchen anymore in new HDB flats, you can only get it in old houses so it is something different. For me, I still like a big and long kitchen. I find those kitchen in new flats too small, couldn't even accomodate another 2-3 helpers especially during festive times when u need to do alot of cooking.

Ah ? must change meh ? I never change when I bought my resale flat more than 10 years ago because the previous owner just changed it for less than 2 years and it still looks new and clean. It never occurs to me that this is something so personal ! But anyway now already changed by HDB due to upgrading .

Wow very nice kitchen, i like the colour theme. Your floor plan is the same as mine but my both toilets are upgraded by HDB recently so save alot of $$ haha.

That block was facing directly a mosque which many people don feel easy as I heard the old folks saying staying near / opposite mosque / temple / etc will bring bad luck. For that reason, I gave up choosing that place though is a very good location. Pandon me may be I'm a bit ban tan. -

Hi richman, I don have any problem with a flat now as I'm staying with my family in a 3rm flat, just that my brother-in-law will be getting married next year so we are looking for a place to move otherwise it looks too cramp with 5 people in the house. Will see how's the q nos. with the balloting exercise then decide. -

Hi richman, Too bad I'm not the son but the daughter, so you see that may explains why I don't get a single cent. Anyway, I treated him well and I gave him pocket money almost every month ever since I started to work. -
Hi Cute, I didn't do any volunteer work as that time I was super blur, I thought I just need to do 40 hrs of volunteer work and finish by end June this year and I can just register anytime before this date to complete the no. of hrs required. But I was too late and the registration was closed. Anyway my gal didn't get into her 1st choice but managed to get a place in her 2nd choice of pri school at Phrase 2C supp.

Well, I would say nothing is fair in this world. My dad also had two children, my brother and I. But when he passed away, he left all his money, flat, insurance, gold and everything everything to my brother and I have nothing at all except some jewellery given by him when I got married. Although I'm not after his money but I do feel very sad. Hi Nesh, Sept balloting result will be out on 25 Nov and selection of flat in Jan 09. -

Hi everybody, My q nos. also sucks - 7xxx and this is the 8th time I applied since early 2007. I'm also applying for Jurong West 4 rm in Sept balloting. Hope my luck will improve. -
Hi RawR, School holidays starts from 15 nov and my house upgrading starts on 18 Nov so just nice timing otherwise will be headache for me.
-
Hi RawR, Have you check with HDB whether they allow you to change the floor tiles and wall tiles for the toilets ? I think you better confirm with them before you confirm purchasing your tiles. We probably not staying in the house during the upgrade as too dusty, will be putting up at my mum's place (just a few bus stops away) but I will have to go back every morning just to open the door for the contractors and back in the evening to lock everything. I have seen neighbours just pass 1 set of keys to the head and the contractors will lock the door after they have finished but I don't feel safe doing that. Anyway, as you have yet to move in your furnitures or personal belongings, I guess you can just hand your keys to the upgrading office so that you don have to be there all the time. Afterall, the gate will be changed by HDB and I'm sure you are going to change your main door too after the upgrading. HDB notice states need one person in the house probably refers to those existing (living-in) owners as need to open the door for the contractors. I have seen alot of empty flats opposite (Blk 60) not having anybody in the house throughout the upgrading period, so should not be a problem. Perhaps you may like to check with the HDB upgrading office.

Thanks Richman. My siblings also think likewise as recession would be set for the next couple of months / years so still considering. Anyway wait till I get the q no. and then see how lo. -
Hi RawR, Haven't chat with you for a long time. HDB will be doing the upgrading work at my flat on 18th to 29th Nov. So I believe your unit is also at Lift B ?

I have contributed many $10 to HDB. I started to apply for flats since Feb 2007 and whenever there is any balloting or quarterly sales for 4 rooms & bigger flats or even monthly sales for 3 rooms, I will definitely applied but each and every time I got a very huge q no. Sometimes, I don even get a chance to be called to select my flat as all units have been snaped before my appt date. I am a first timer but just don understand why my luck is so bad. -

Hi richman and therat, Linear Green is near to Bedok MRT (1 bus stop away). The exterior looks very nice, design almost similar to those at Tah Ching Rd. However, left with only 2 units, think I'm not that lucky. Therat is right, the 6th floor unit is facing the MRT track and main road, so very noisy but the unit no. sounds very nice - 66 - sounds like 'luck luck' in Hokkien. But the other unit is on the 4th floor and near to car park so alot of blockage. I am abit kiasu so went to survey even before I submit my application just to make sure that I don waste my $10 on those shortlisted flats. -
Hi Cute, I also like your vanity at the master bathroom. Can you tell me the address of Hoe Kee. Do they have other bathroom / toilet accessories like soap holder, toilet roll holder, grab bar, shampoo rack etc ?

I went to see the flats at Blk 41 Chai Chee St and now I understand why so many units unsold. All those units are corner flats and some face the afternoon (west) sun and some are facing directly opposite a mosque. I think alot of pple dun like houses facing directly mosque or temple, 'sa qi" very strong, how true is it I dun know. Moreover, MUP is in progress and expected to complete only 1st quarter 2010. Also went to see Tampines flats. Alot of units are tucked into a corner whereby the main entrance faced the wall and the unit totally can't be seen from the lift / corridor. Looks like 'feng shui' not so good. The flats in Tampines are big and affordable but I just dun like the main entrance facing the wall. Flats in other locations like Bukit Merah and Toa Payoh are good but cannot afford leh. I think after seeing so many flats, I still prefer those at Tah Ching Rd (Sept BE) and Linear Green @ Bedok. -
Hi Cute, Thanks for sharing. Wow, you really love white so much, everything also white but isn't it more difficult to maintain ?
