  1. wwy: I can't remember the shop name liao - if I am not wrong its called 5B. Its along Joo Chiat, if you search on the forum you can definitely find the full details. There are also a few more shops that I am hunting from as judging from the current situation we won't be able to go Thailand for R&R and buying goodies for our new place! Updates: Painting is done. The protective cardboards are removed and next is to wash the floors, install the lighting fixtures and floor laminates for the bedrooms. Seriously can't wait liao!

  7. Hi 77suns, we haven't used any wallpaper in the living area but will be using it in the bedroom for a 'glam chic' look. Was thinking of putting a dark mirror (will it make it darker?) in the living but my ID says there is too much details already. Was also considering making a 'white settee' in the living area to brighten it up - not sure at this point. Else we might use a white lacquered dining table set to draw the focal point there.
  8. Hi Valerie, Haha, actually, I have seen some of your renderings before we signed with Kenneth. Very nicely designed - monochrome we like your 'colour' scheme! Ya, its darker than what me and WTB likes, but we pray that it goes well. Else I will sure !!! Very very worried now that so many people are saying its too dark. Strange because my parents who are quite old fashioned didn't say that when we showed them the perspective! Jialat!
  9. Hi 77suns, Yeah we did think about it - I have been worrying and fretting about it for the last 4 weeks, but my ID is confident so I'm going to try to trust him. Fingers crossed! I think our dining light will give it a nice lighting effect so maybe it will go well.
  10. Hi Angel81, thanks for your comments - hopefully it will also be a very functional kitchen. I think we will entertain friends and family so it is very important for me!
  11. In my excitement I forgot to take our dining room lights Got this from one of the members of renotalk - tt is this model with Swarovski Crystals but will be in black to match the string curtains. Anyone knows where to get a good, close replica of the Castiglioni Arco Lamp at a cheap price?
  12. Shoot! I pray that the oven is fine and lasts till we can afford to reno again or least move!
  13. We also just bought a number of items for our kitchen last week: Sink 700" Bellari Professional Sink with Colander Bought from Bellari http://www.bellari.net/sinkmain.htm Oven Ariston Catalytic Self-Cleaning Oven FZ62C1IX Bought from Mayer http://www.mayer.com.sg/main.html Hood Turbo Incanto 90cm Slim Hood ES6000-60/90 Bought from Best Denki Hob Turbo Incanto 3 Burner Glass Hob 703VTSC Bought from Best Denki Air Conditioner Mitsubishi Starmex Inverter System 4 Bought from Gain City IMM Also bought all lights from Licht Studio along Balestier Road - photos to follow Hey Richman - its not the latest now. Samsung launched the 9 Series with LED backlit TVs. But it was on sale recently at the Audio House sale so we got that and most of our electronics during the sale. My favourite place has to be the kitchen - here's the rendering! A little worried about Turbo's glass hobs after seeing so many issues online on this forum but I'm taking a risk for now.

  15. Hi Bubble-ling, hopefully it will turn out nicely! Ok, I will check our Gain City as recommended. Any more recommendations will be great!
  16. Hi mmmycheng, Yes, the floor tiles is different - one is smooth and reflective, the other is textured, non-reflective and has a rustic feel, with some browns which should fit the floor. I think design wise it does push the envelope - so fingers crossed. Yesterday, my WTB and I went down to inspect - all looks really good. We were really amazed as tiling is almost 95% done including the kitchen and bathrooms! Unfortunately it was pitch dark and no photos were clear enough. Will try again tomorrow morning! So excited! Now we need to hunt for aircon, kitchen hob, hood, oven and lights. Recommendations for places to hunt for good prices will be appreciated!!!
  17. Yup, just started last week - this is week 2. So exciting, apart from 'bleeding profusely' from reno, electricals, wedding, etc. Keep me posted on how yours goes ya, Cally? Sorry again Frankie! Btw, when are you going to invite us over?
  18. Thanks, mwerks, I'm a little unsure about the two-tone floor, but I'm prepared to take a risk. I prefer a nice polished floor but since Mr K is quite well known as a designer I will give it a shot - hopefully it turns out well. Yes, we have a string curtain in the living room. Share more comments! More photos shortly.
  19. Hey Frankie! House looks so good and almost done too! Can we go visit you one of these days to have a look-see at the new KFC? Cally: Welcome to Strathmore, I'm living at blk 49 too, so see you around! *Sorry frankie for the hijack*
  20. Sorry for the wait (we have been working, I've been travelling for work, managing the reno and wedding preparation and its been hectic to say the least). Anyways, here's the rendering for the living room. Was hoping to get some feedback and comments on the 2-tone flooring? Frankly, I'm a little worried but I'm throwing caution to the wind since its different from anything I've seen so far and I have a lot of faith in Mr K. The design is a little different from the original monochrome - black and white' concept that we wanted but it looks very cosy in a strange way. We went tile hunting with Mr K last week and the renovators have also started work since Tuesday - hacking off part of the wall of master bedroom and bedroom 2 as well as bathroom tiles, and starting on the plastering in the kitchen. Pictures to come soon! Things are looking ontrack so far so hopefully our love sanctuary should be ready by Chinese New Year!
  21. For those who are interested, companies that we have visited: - ****** - Extract Living - Creative Design Image - Violet Interior - Unimax Creative - i-bridge Design - Plush Living Design - Rezt & Relax Interior - Plus Interior Design - De Shun - Darwin Interior - Fuse Concept - Inzen Interior Design - Plush Living Design - IntraDesign - Ideal House ID - G'plan Design - La Bonne Vie Design & Contracts - SBC Design Renovation Central - Earnest Interiors & Renovation It was a tough decision, but we decided to go with Mr K. Lots more to do for the next few months! I didn't bring back the perspective - will update you guys once revisions are done.
  22. Super super super busy month for me and my wifey so no time to update this blog. Ok, we have now signed I-deal House (Mr K) as our ID after almost 3 months of hunting, and 21 IDs. A few came close but honestly we were impressed by his professionalism, even before we signed, calling the town council technical officer to enquire about the 'proper' way to hack and install new tiles for the pre-fabricated toilet! I will blog a little more about the IDs that I went through if that interests anyone! Have shown us the first round of perspectives and we are now going into our second round. Hopefully we should be ready to go after the second round is ready! Fingers crossed that the house will be ready by Chinese New Year though we are not really in a major rush as our wedding is in May. So excited Only thing is my wallet is getting lighter by the day with all the things happening.
  23. Colonel Sanders! Your house coming along nicely! I'm stressing like mad too. Sigh think we have to drink lots of alcohol at night and coffee (and Red Bull) during the day to keep up!
  24. Super busy over the weekend over the house. So much to do! Seeking everyone's experience and opinion - should we reveal our budget to renovators? And how much is a decent budget to renovate a 5-room, 110sqm flat (excluding furnishings)? Please advise! Anyone has removed the railings in the living and bedroom before? Is it legal? Also, I'm still confused whether we should hack or overlay in our toilets (its pre-fabricated toilets) and some forummers have posted that tiles have fallen off before!
  25. No lah, just that some IDs didn't reply back (those that I visited during the exhibtion). Must be too rich or don't want to do my business! Others were really too greenhorn and propose wierd ideas like a walk-in closet blocking off the window (and I can imagine changing in front of my neighbours)!
