Dun blame u lah...actually when i thought of the colours for our new house design, I wanted very dark and neutral colours...but my hb insisted on bright colours so I had to compromise and after some research, chose a mix of bright matched with base colours like black, white and grey. I show some pics of a condo showroom designs where I got my inspiration from... hee I conclude that our top 3 favs of this forum are: 1. Pictures! 2. Cheap and/or good deals! 3. Reno advice! So in keeping with popular demand, here are some of my reno works in progress. Everything is going on smoothly as scheduled. The tiling and laminate floorings are done (will take some pics and post them soon). Ceiling works should be done by end of this week. Hacked wall for study room rebuilt Original door to WIW sealed up New door to WIW located inside the MBR, directly opposite the MBR toilet entrance MBR toilet curb (glass shower screen to be installed later) Kitchen base for cabinets -
Get well soon Jessie!

Thanks applefreak... makes it easier for me if there's a standard pipe, so no need to make choices...haha. I think I'll get my hb to be the IC for this part as he's been doing most of the citygas account opening and all...I'm IC for so many things liao...unbalanced workload... so must get him to do some stuff! Hehe Hey, me on 17th floor...blk 182. You should start a blog and post your designs for us to see! -

Hi alphalost! Welcome to the n'hood! I've PM you the info alrdy. Which block and floor you at? -
Some of my thoughts... The string curtain is nice but not practical. If you're looking to divide the sofa and tv area in your living room, you can try using unusual pieces of furniture, a fish tank, plants etc... In fact, I noticed that you already have a raised platform there so in itself it already visually creates a separate zone. Your MBR and attached bathroom is an interesting concept. Did you hack the wall to create the open concept? How about going for a swivel feature wall? That way you can watch TV from the bed and from the bathroom! hee

Made new decision today regarding my kitchen carpentry after consultations with my ID... Earlier i gave up my tall larder unit coz of cost but that will mean 2 ft of space left in between the exsiting cabinets to the other end of the kitchen...so instead of lengthening the cooking workspace, I added a second solid surface workspace on the right side next to the oven and microwave. It can also double up as a temporary space to put things like grocery shopping bags or a place for a quick meal (add a stool or something). I really don't know how this will eventually pan out but keeping my fingers crossed that it will look nice. Sorry no 3D drawings to show...will take pics when carpentry works start in 2 weeks time. -

Ok thanks. There's a standard pipe? Or can choose different materials? -
True lah...colours too bright maybe hard to sleep...my MBR colour now is basically a mix of purple and grey...thinking of matching with greenish-blue bedsheets...dunno even can match anot! haha! My ID said that hacking off half the wall will compromise the structural stability of the remaining parts and something about the weight of the glass partition...it's ok by me lah...whatever is safer and price wise, I still only pay for half wall hacking, not full...hee

Hi lifestyle, can you PM me the contact for your curtain maker and the shop where you bought the shelves for your storeroom? Thanks!
-
Why do you want a corner kitchen sink when your kitchen layout can accommodate normal types? Corner sinks are usually more ex cos they are low in production units. Anyway, you can try the various shops at Balestier. I also saw one at Bellari at Jln Besar. And as for undermount sinks, most sinks can be undermounted as long as you tell your ID/contractor to do it for you, they will just fill up the gaps by waterproofing it with silicon. I think there's no need to specially buy the undermount types.

Haha..nice buys and happyz cos pockets dun feel so light. I also went to Poh Joo to buy my storage heater and rainshower. Was served by the male boss and he's very friendly... prices were also very reasonable like you said.

Ok. I will PM u the info. Which few IDs have you shortlisted so far? What is your budget and your key needs for the reno? You can PM me. My reno just started only...it's still not near finishing lah...today I went to see and so far only all the tiling done. I also had to redo the screeding for all my bedrooms...and had to pay an extra $360 for it. Sighz... all because HDB's screeding (which was FOC) don't match the height...so after my ID did the living room tiling, then realised the bedroom screed is too low and if the laminates go on top, the bedroom floors will be lower than the living room... in the end, had to top up $$$... if I had known this would happen, I would just go for tiles throughout the whole house... if I top up on tiles for all the bedrooms, I would pay additional $500... and personally, i prefered tiles because I have a dog and his nails will scratch the flooring...but then during that time I was thinking of saving $. Time to go watch F1 practices on TV! Hee -
Hi kingkongz, nice place. All the furnishing done up liao? I am your new neighbour...hee

I didn't know it's so ex one ah! $800+ is a lot for sand...but then again, they did bring in a lot of sand for the tiling works...i show u... Our this thread now quite quiet already... sighz...anyone out there!?!?!? -

Hi, thanks for all your comments! Another forumer, Klipp-Klapp also has very bright colours...in fact, it's supposed to be a green house! I think bright colours is in fashion now...just picked up the latest copy of Home&Decor and they were featuring all the different bright colour combinations for home designs...I was like telling my hb "Look darling! This is similar to our feature wall!" But then, I still need my 'serious' colours to do serious work...so study room is black and white... also more timeless lah... -
I like your colour scheme...bright colours are the way to go man! Why don't you make your MBR colours green too? Then it'll really be a green house! Hee I also saw that you hacked off the entire wall for your study...i initially wanted a similar idea but that will reduce the space I have for wall-mounted cabinets so in the end I didn't go for that option. But it still looks very nice and open!

Hi LittleDevil, your house is very nicely done. Understated yet classy. The little touches in design in your kitchen and MBR certainly give it a greater sense of uniqueness. I like your main gate very much. May I know what brand it is and how much it costs? By the way, I have exactly the same lights as you, except that I think my bulb colour is less warm. Hee!
